Topic: Steam - Free 2 Play game model for Perp \o/

$10.00/month   -   Skill Points come in at 100%     - 10 sparks cap
$5.00/month         50%   - 5 sparks caps

Free  - skills points don't increase, maybe one or two other debuffs, maybe only 1 spark

New accounts, 2 weeks free play and free 100% training, ie Steam new players and other new players.

Cosmetic stuff - add in cosmetic things like skins/paint.   Mechwarrior Online is making bank off paint colors and patterns etc.   I know that may not even fit in with this game engine, but I would buy some cool paints for my bots in a second.



Steam players are all focused on free to play model these days, even though I am not a big fan of it, I think it will be the only thing that saves this game.





The current payment model has failed, in my opinion.

I consider the number of people playing and subbed now @    0%

I've thought something similar, but there is a point in extensions for characters that commits only to single role, where they don't need any extra EP. At this point it would likely not receive another subscription - now think of all the alts that could start rolling around after that change. Single guys paying 0€ to the game and mining with 10 Riveler MK2s on the field. Detectors under everything you could imagine. The list goes on.

Perhaps for this to work, free players could log in with just 1 account at a time, similar to what EVE has with paid vs trial.

Either way, I don't think the devs have to focus too much on the Steam growd. If they go to that direction, I'm not sure I'd like the game anymore.

I see large abuse for the 5$ model and in fact 10$ is not expensive for me especially if you see that price is not that much above 5$ for a year subsricption

And I agree with burial that it should not be possible to switch from payed to free with an account.

converting a subscription based game to a free to play game is a tough thing to do. And i cant see Pepertuum pulling it off.

However, Get the paint up and running, and make it TRADEABLE, just like ICE.  That will be a good money maker as well.  Yet has ZERO impact on PVP, or the game. 

But, I dont know how it will impact the server its self, but that is something for the Dev Team to figure out. (Speaking Of lag ect ect...)

With Burial, subscriptions are inherent to Perpetuum's (sandbox) gameplay. And yeah, don't overestimate the Steam-crowd. In this case it's just a distribution platform (not be confused with it's community, which Perpetuum gameplay style clearly does not cater too).

Actually new texture packs for your gamma outposts(and mechs and likes too) would be awesome - not just colors!
I'd pay a nice sum for a suitable gamma texture pack.
