Woohoo!
Interesting.
Thank you for this ... I had mentioned something similar, earlier ...
I really think this will at least quadruple your noob retention rate.
+1
Nice!
This could lead the newbies to ingame!
I had also something similiar idea before, like "holographic Nia virtual reality" make it somewhere this would looks AMAZING, like in terminal you can see my Arbalest in hologrpahic, WOOT WOOT ! And I like the "logic" behind it also, this is how the role and the gamemechanics can hold each other hand !
(1 thing still needed, but I am not sure how we can reach it. Many players wasnt reach the "endgame" content before left the game, this would be the 2nd step for the better player retention.)
New Pvp arena is go?
This looks promising , this can also be expanded with more tutorials, like terraforming and other more advance gameplay.
Question is could any agent spark teleport there and help out the newbies? . That seems like a good idea.
Perhaps Vets could be paid something like 300 tokens per hour to "teach" various module tutorials to noobs ...
Lobo can train PvP module, I can train Retreating and deploying armored teles Module, for example. Both are important.
This way the workload of preparing people for the game doesn't fall completely on the Devs and allows Vets to make some NiC ... when a noob asks a question in Gen Chat, more often than not all political sides usually give the noob co-operative advice, this would simply be along the same lines. I would like a more direct opportunity to help noobs, if that what it takes to get people to stay in this game.

Can be abused easily.
Sounds like a great idea. I could teach how to be terrible at PVP.

Lmao made my day
I like the new features and additions to the new player experience and I hope it pays dividends after the steam release. One thing I think would be beneficial to new players is a help channel that every new account is logged into when made so that players in Nia can give advice and tips to players still in the newbie island.
Cass good idea I like it!
Gerralt, we can help them in help channel, or where, Zoom alrady said that on the blog.
Remember, any player can just put a second agent into the training area to help newbs out; and with lvl 5 skills and an open market, there's no limit to the training potential.
I am just going to play a new char in the training thing.

Such a simple idea ...so much potential
This could be its own mini world. With everyone equal in EP and equipment may be great PvP arena.
Questions for Zoom:
Flag mechanic is working here?
Kills go to KB?
Ability to form and join corps?
Any time limits or can I theoretically stay there forever?
Do all new characters go here or just first characters from new accounts?
After some thought, this area idea is great.
People should be able to join corporations there too though. Seems like ripe groud for recruitment for some of the corps.
Flag mechanic is working here?
- Yes, unless we find that it causes problems for newbies.
Kills go to KB?
- Currently I think so, but I'm not sure you would want it to stay like that.
Ability to form and join corps?
- Forming will be definitely disabled. Joining could be allowed but then we have to make an exception so that you don't get put in an NPC starter corp when your character is finalized.
Any time limits or can I theoretically stay there forever?
- No limit.
Do all new characters go here or just first characters from new accounts?
- All.
Will old players get those rewards post-factum? Especially if there is something like achievement.

So for all those looking for Arena PvP and perhaps method for recruiting / training noobs...
Create Special Arena PvP Training corp in regular world of Nia
Create a new character on existing account
Join Training Corp
Flag on
Go
Perhaps the KB admins can segregate the Kills from the training island onto a separate Killboard. Debatable, at least.
And I suppose my last question for Zoom is about T1-4 gear. Re-reading the blog it seems standard gear is plentiful but what about T2-4? Is it seeded, or would/could someone go through process of collecting/researching kernals?
I almost hope that's not possible just to keep standardization as uniform as possible.
Would also mean, no additional EP until off the island.
Anyway, this could be opportunity to do two things:
1.) create general introductory zone for newbs ...intended purpose
2.) provide vets quasi pvp arena for fun, level playing field competition, pvp practice, recruit testing and training, all in place where it wont matter if you die cause you get it all back ...bonus purpose
i think a free playfield is not the right thigs for new players. well to have that avalible is not bad, but we need some more specific things for the new players to experience.
what good does it take if the new players have all the toys if they have no clue what they are and what they can do.
i think we need a bunch of missions for them where they can experience what its like to play the different factions.
so you want to try pelistal , then select the pelistal tutorial. you get the bot ready in your storage and fitted in a usefull way so the ppl can jump in and get going. (or get jumped in automaticly)
basicly the same for all factios and also for at least 3 classes (assauslt, mech, hmech)
maybe you can even create ewar missions where you have to escort combat mechs (npcs) and help them with your ewar.
you need to show the new players the best of the game. and having the complexity is good, but dont stone them at the beginning with it. we need clean and easy ways to get the ppl into the game.
and that means: KEEP IT SIMPLE AT THE START. then keep increasing the complexity. slowly but surely.
regards
zort
Why not set up another area just the same that you can spark too for 20 million.
You would keep your current skills
everything on the market would be seeded
Everything on the market would be 5% cost of the real market
You could then use this to test fittings, have tourny PvP as a pvp arena etc and it would enable pvp on tap while providing a much needed nic sink
to Zortarg +1
My only reservation here is the 'shock' of going from the all-you-can-eat starter area to the harsh reality of the actual game.
I'm with Arga. They only need access to T1 gear. Or even syntec T0 stuff.
