Are the Component costs a fictional number we can never really achieve?

No, you can never get to 100% production or refining efficiency, and it's not fictional, that number is needed to create a base figure , if Devs lower the base amount you would need less materials.

I understand, but why have a components list that's never achievable, I'm not saying change production but the information screen.  So when I want an accurate "guess" to figure out how much I need for a run of bots or modules, I can get it.  Make sense?

Why bother complaining about the logic of things, when you're not interested in the logic of things? Just to summarize this thread so far.

Think of it like how Ikea does things. The manual describes the minimum number of components needed to build a piece of furniture, yet you need more glue, screws, etc. if you want to keep it together for more than a year.

its not a fictonal number, its the theeretical minimal cost with infinite "efficiency points"

your production has an efficiency - that can never reach 100% (like in reality).
So the really only thing that is wrong is the factory display, since it never shows you anywhere your efficiency.

how would the component list ever be able show you the accurate number, when it depends on the factory, your extensions, and the CT quality and your standing how much it needs? if you have a factory calibrated with several different quality CTs for the same item - which one should be used for the display of the item?

your talking about the component list of an item that you have in your cargo or listed on the market, right?

Hmm maybe its because your in STC and judging by all the T1 loot we pick up after engagements with you you clearly don't understand how corp production works or why this is a pain.  When I am assigning specific tiers of production between all 7 of the production guys in just PHM I would like a generalized idea that is somewhat accurate materials list to hand over to production guys who may not have access to the main materials folders.  When your burning through 100 million of each ore/plants a week and half a billion  in production little things like this save someone like myself hours of micromanaging.

Anni I don't want it to take into account my skills just a quick reference of at a 50 p CT at 50% efficiency this is the  required mats.

Like it kind of used to be.

if your facilities are high enough, the CT quality is the least important factor in the whole equation.

I suppose you can use Chaos production terminal, which has 375pt factory + 50pts relation + 120pts extensions = 545pts fixed

the Material cost difference from CT with 150pts to CT with 0pts:
150pts = 106.29%
100pt = 0.42% more
50pt = 0.9% more
0pt = 1.46% more (=107.75%)

look at the worst CT: its less then 10% off of the listed components.

The old system was stupid, because you could build stuff for LESS materials then listed, and recycling had to be adjusted to never return you less materials then that. It was less realted to the actual production requirements then now.

Also, the recycling rate had to be less then 50% if you could build stuff for 50% of the listed components.

Now recycling 100% means 100%, and production efficiency 100% also means 100%. as i stated earlier, its just missing that your production efficieny can be calculated and displayed by any idiot in an excel spreadsheet, but not by the game itself

I'm sorry I have this thing called a Job and a Life.  Maybe if My mom would let me move into her basement I might have time to upload wonderful screen shots of things I did on the internet today.  Besides I don't have the exact skills of 7 different EP characters or am I going to require all my producers to submit their stats every week along with an itemized outlook of how they spend their EP along with their blood type, Date of birth, and favorite color

Back on topic, 

Thanks to Anni, I see now that the components list is not realistic and I will have to "assume" with a %.  I guess since the Industry 2.0 patch I wasn't too worried about production seeing how I was only looking after myself in the past few corps and not actually managing.  Thanks Anni for clearing it up.

so, you had to guess a +/- pre patch, and now you have to after patch.

pre patch it was even impossible to calculate an accurate number due to random CT damage,
now it is possible to calculate it on the digit even with the rather inaccurate relation display.

so what exactly is your issue that makes you insult spreadsheet-users?

Just an extension history export would suffice (hold shift, click icon under Agent Profile > Extensions > Extension history).

Multiple production accounts is not supported anyways. As for calculating the mats just add 10% to base yields and you should have more than enough even for the lowest CT, EP character or station efficiency.

I been using 15%.  I may narrow it down to 10%.

Maybe I should have added @Doek instead of being vague.  I have nothing aganist spreadsheets or their users I just spend my time doing other stuff I like, drinking beer, pvping and midget porn, then to keep jumping back to a spreadsheet for every little thing we produce.
