Topic: [PVP Proposal] Proximity Probes

Proximity probes should have a no-deploy zone of 2000 meters around teleports, their cost should also be increased to 5M NIC per probe.

Current mechanics allow for investing 4 or 5M NIC in exchange for perfectly safe, risk free Beta/Gamma islands. Roaming PVPers have no chance to get on island without getting spotted.

Probes were supposed to replace arkhe/cheap light scouts.  Making them expensive isn't gonna address that problem.    The problem isn't with the probes themselves but with the fact that they can be walled in for protection.

The problem is they can be placed directly on the teleports and provide a perfectly secure Beta/Gamma island for a negligible investment in comparison to the gain.

Roamers have no chance of getting on the island.

light bot cost = 150k NIC, + a few nic for syncrap ACs + ammo, vs. teleporter placed 1M proxy.

Cannot disagree, but would also like to see more options for getting onto island. Surely there is a thread somewhere requesting mobile TPs for jump-to points (like cyno tongue). Insert drawbacks, balancing, etc. Stealth bots, perhaps. But for now... sure, z nerf

imo remove Proximity Probes & replace them with a new PBS called a radar station or something like that. smile

i remember the time of probes. You'll (maybe) see the only one ping on teleport. (maybe) You will check that teleport and (of course) you will find nothing. But after 30-40 mins you will be attacked with huge squad, which has been teleported from another side. Why it was not detected? - Because there are was trojar with masker. He jumped once and neutralized all your probes without any chanse to be detected. After this little work - food on the table my sir.
