Topic: Impossible to download client

I got the installer that tries to download 342.79 MB...

It crashes before it hits 1 MB...

After about 8 restarts I got it to 30 MB but it crashed again and I had to restart download lol...

Is this normal?

You may have caught it on the update to the newest version.  The current initial download is 438MB.  I'm downloading it right now just fine, currently up to 50MB.  I'd try again and see if the same thing happens.

I tried a few more times and it didnt even get to 1 MB before crashing.

I then went to sleep for the night, woke up this morning and tried downloading again.

its the same as last night, I get to like .37 MB then it crashes...


I live in New York

I use Road Runner Turbo (15mb connection)

Windows 7

The entire download should of taken me under 10 minutes....

Im runnign windows 7, anything else I download anywhere goes at 1.9-2.1 MB a second.

A shot in the dark, but do you have any active antivirus program running? If so, please try to close it for the duration of the download.

I turned off spyware doctor and my antivirus.

Still having same issue.

Could it be on the game servers end?

Also once in every 5-6 times I try, I will get a fast download that will download about 20-30 megs then crash the same way.

Hmf. If it would be the server, everyone would have the same issues.
As a last resort you can also download the datafile here:

http://perpetuum-online.com/~mancs/shared/Perpetuum.gbf

Copy it next to your Perpetuum.exe and then launch the client, it should then automatically download anything that is still missing.

Just to mention I had a similar issues (would get to 50% of 438 and then it would cause an exception error), link in this thread is what got me in. smile

Try downloading from here:

Simply extract the .exe and the .gbf to the Perpetuum folder.

It would be nice if we could work out what does, or could, interfere with the way the client patches as it's always much slower than directly downloading a file. Is it the quantity of files and because they're processes in sequence rather than downloading, then unpacking?

I've never had issues with the patching but it's always be around 1/4 the speed I would get if downloading the gbf file directly.

My Perpetuum folder consists of 110 files (104 of those being logs) so your downloading archive(s) not individual files (I assume). Everything seems to be stored in perpetuum.gbf (1.5gb).
