Nice idea.  Now if we can just get people to use G+...well aside from me because I know that the next big thing in social networks is a resurgance of MySpace.

I think the appeal of Google+ is that it isn't Facebook.  It's sort of like how people buy a Unix PC with a certain fruit branded logo.  The functional objective is the same regardless, but standing out as a differently minded thinker (regardless of whether such is actually the case) is a psychological need that is rooted rather deeply.  In this case Google+ might be an outlet for that need.
