Topic: MK II bots and LWF [resolved]

Alright so the premise is simple
MKII bots are heavier than MKI bots, they also have the same base speed.
LWF gives a speed increase by decreasing the mass of your bot by a percentage of it's original mass.

Based on this, why does an unfit MK2 bot with an LWF go the same speed as an unfit MK1 bot with an LWF, when it's mass is decreased by a larger amount?

It almost seems that the LWF module is changing the top speed of the bot, rather than it's mass

I'm assuming this is a bug?

edit: herfderf, thought about power to weight ratio's for a minute and then realised this is probably intended game mechanics. Feel free to ignore this thread

Re: MK II bots and LWF [resolved]

More mass means that the fittings have less impact on the final speed.

Edit: an empty bot misses the point of having greater mass, but that there shows its' better, heavier but with the same top speed means it has the ability to carry 'more' with less impact to speed.

Ummm, yeh.  I understand that, I don't really see what that has to do with one LWF removing much more mass than the other, but still giving the same speed?

Re: MK II bots and LWF [resolved]

robotspeed = base*navigationbonus *[Basemass ]/[BaseMass*LWF+SUM(modulemass)] * speednexus * Demob + highwaybuff

take as example:
MK1 = 20tons,
MK2 = 40tons
30% lwf

x * 20/(20*0.7) = x * 1/0.7 = 1.42
y * 40/(40*0.7) = x * 1/0.7 = 1.42

on an empty robot, the base-mass does not matter at all

same robots with 20 tons equip:

x * 20/(20*0.7+20) = x * 20/34 = 0.58
y * 40/(40*0.7+20) = x * 40/48 = 0.83

Ahaaa, yeh so it sorta does work like power to weight ratio.
Alright thanks for clearing that up, close thread please mods
