Topic: How are shields used on a Seth?

Seths have a 5% shield absorption per Advanced Robotics level. How is this bonus used?

Are Seths supposed to activate their shields, wait for a line of fire, then lower shields - quickly distroy the enemy using critical hits, then re-shield?

However, I've never used one. How does it work in real life?

Re: How are shields used on a Seth?

4 drainers, shield tank and trololo song playing on background while you got in middle of enemy fleet.

You are walking battery. You can take fleet worth damage and few neuts and ask fore more.

Re: How are shields used on a Seth?

Don't harvesters and miners work when shields are active?  Fitting the Seth properly with industrial gear should mitigate concerns about taking advantage of the shielding bonus.

Re: How are shields used on a Seth?

yes, basically you wait until your gun cycle time completes, switch off shield, fire, re-activate shield.

Its kind of like waiting until your in LOS before firing weapons, and when you do fire, you switch off your guns immediatly(space bar).. because with the eb and flow of combat when the next cycle hits you simply dont know if your going to have LOS or not. (incidentally, this is why ROF in pvp is a very important extension)

It does take some rather precise timing with the shield thing, as well as watching your LOS, but with practice can be very effective indeed.
