Topic: Stationary pvp bots

Perhaps an idea of using a bot that can go into stationary mode for extra support in remote repping or perhaps artillery type or even added damage and crit rate. Be cool to have a heavy mech of some sort be able to go stationary for extra buffs etc. Maybe added damage resist + remote repping. Perhaps it might give our industrial guys more cool bots to play with.

Re: Stationary pvp bots

Are you thinking it would be temporarily stationary, or something that disables and terminates the bot after a timeout.

Having to decide to 'sack the bot could add some intersting tactical questions as well as make the bonus more powerful since you are technically spending millions of nic when you use it; like suicide bots.

A temp disable is ok too, on a fixed timer, but the bonus would be less then perm.

The bonus should be in AP, that's saved by not actuating motors, probaby a bonus to regen rate.

Think "siege mode" for the Terran Siege tank [StarCraft], 4 second deploy and immobilized but rockin' range and Damage.

Re: Stationary pvp bots

This would be a module, but it could have the same effects when activated.

It just wouldn't be a bot function, since there isn't a game mechanic for that. That is, players would have to make the choice to equip the module and not just have a button on the robot panel labeled 'siege mode'.

Re: Stationary pvp bots

Same with miners?  Can deploy, get slight buffs to mining, but becoming mobile again takes at least 30 seconds so they are more vulnerable.

Siege tank idea sounds awesome.  It should be a class of bot, not a module, imo.

Re: Stationary pvp bots

A new class of bot would be great, it just can't be something that is turned on and off; meaning the stationary on activation part wouldn't be implemented that way. It would just be a large, slow, bot.

Having something like that 'baked' into the bot is a totally different game mechanic, and the same results can be achieved with current game mechanics, in the form of module. A combination thing, where the siege class bot is the only bot with enough reactor or ap to support a siege module would be a compromise.

Re: Stationary pvp bots

Just a side discussion on the miner. Since I don't beta mine anymore, I'm curious if being immobile is an issue. From my understanding of post on here, if your alone, and not in the shadow of an outpost your, not going to live anyway?

Just meaning that the mining buff would be 'free' if your a couple km out and spotted, becasue your not going to be able to run away anyway. Alpha miners on the other hand can get away from NPC's now because they are slow and don't attack as soon as they see you on their radar, but a 30s delay could be enough for them to catch you; so free buff to beta miners, but more danger for alpha.
