Topic: new Combat role

currently there are three distinct roles in perpetuum, assault, support, and control. I would propose a new role, artillery. have a bot that has one massive gun, and perhaps a few smaller ones. its primary weapon will have a minimum range so that it isnt too op. the accuracy would also be quite low unless you team up with electronic warfare units through nexus modules to "paint" the target and improve accuracy. in addition it would use massive ammunition, which would be expensive. these would require a good sized corp to run and maintain, let alone field in battle.

Artillery could be long range.  AOE, and high hit dispersion.

Its a pitty

  • CRM was already working on the code for the ballistic LoS (seen in that blogpost from former DEV Mancs)

  • The Modules 3D meshes + animations + FX have been already finished, just not transfered into the game engine quote:"job was five minutes from beeing finished"

  • the theory of the mechanic for non-homing artilliry shots has been found too.

  • with release of gamma 1.0 it went silent

what was actually missing?

if you dig REALLY deep, then you would find a picture of a symbiont with a small grenade launcher on one shoulder, and a n "AoE plant remover" tool on the other one.
