This requires a complete re-balance of shields and several bots.

I think that makes shields a little OP.  However, how's about if you have your shields up the only damage that goes through gets blocked by your shield ratio.  i.e. if you have a shield absorption ratio of .500 only half the damage you would have done gets through.

Not really.  It would mean green pilots could do missions.

@Roboc, even simpler fix up the cpu requirements of shield hardeners and GG.

Tbh shields are so weak and there is such a trade off between shield DPS and shield tank that its not a terrible idea.

My only concern is preventing a shield on every bot. Maybe give greens a racial bonus?

Fully shield tanked heavies with LWF and machine guns are broken.

and no, that change wouldn't make missions much more do-able for green bots the they are now, but hey, that machinegun seth would benefit from it all around.
