something that you can do, until you get your advanced skills higher, is switch back to light weapons on your mech, the larger reactor cpu and accumulators, along with a better accumulator recharge rate, can actually make a mech into a quite good stand and fire platform for the same mobs you currently fight with your assault. you lose some dps doing so, but your costs will be lower than in medium weapons, and if you fit two small armor repairers along with the small weapon loadout, you have some pretty efficient tanking ability without having to kite mobs.
