Ah you know what, I believe I was mistaken, I got one of the missions confused with another, as well the location for the HDT mining was in a different spot. Thanks for pointing this out.

So today I picked up two assignments at once. The first was to scan for HDT, the second was to exploit 30000 HDT. So I completed the first one by just scanning the area, and it says I completed it. Then the next assignment showed up in my assignment menu, and I started to mine for HDT.

While I'm mining it, I see that my assignment log says I have 0 collected, but there is HDT in my inventory and I'm actively collecting it. I had to go into a terminal, leave, and go back in order for it to register that I was collecting it.

I'm guessing this is not supposed to happen, has anyone had a similar experience?

I really hope they implement some form of a respec system. I dislike using alts, as such the choices I make on my main (my only character) have to be perfect or I'll be gimped. I'm doing a hybrid build, so I'm already at a slight disadvantage than those who are specialized for one thing exclusively.

As for the respec system, I think it should focus more on modifying Attributes, rather than the skills themselves. This way, if someone who is Combat wants to expand their Indy horizons, they can simply change the attributes to cheapen the Indy skills, rather than reassigning the EP they have already spent.

Gobla has it right. This isn't about arbitrary "Complete this, do this, get me X of X and return here", this is a sandbox and it is what you make it. Sure there isn't a whole lot of content, but considering the Dev team size, the small budget, and the fact that it JUST came out of Beta, you can't be expecting anything more than what it has now. In fact, most other MMO's at this stage would be HALF the quality this is. MMO's need time to develop and mature, they are never released finished. Don't be judging this so harshly, and honestly, if you are having a problem with the game, just don't play it.
