I want to agree with this here.
When Gamma was rebooted you brought a bunch of players together to talk about what should be changed and added and got a much improved system off the back of it. A rebalance is an opportunity to add new content. Perhaps do the same here?
I would suggest making proto bots the same stats as mk2 are currently. They are by far the hardest and most expensive to build and it fits with the mods meta with t4 proto being the best in the game. I would then rebrand mk2 as specialised versions of mk1 with for instance a facet of a bot type given a specific bonus that makes it really good at one role.
Example might be:
Gropho: 20% increase to rof
Mesmer: 20% increase to range
Seth: 20% increase to resists
Kain: 20% increase to speed
Tyrannos: 20% increase to neutralising
Artemis: 20% increase to range
Zenith: 20% increase to demob range
Ictus: 20% increase to shield absorption
Vaga: 20% increase to ewar range
Riveler: 20% increase to remote repair amount
Symbiont: 20% increase to remote energy transfer
Etc etc but you get the idea.
For some roles using a proto with an extra head and low would be better. For others the mk2. This would give us a new tier of robots and I think bring a lot of players back to the game. It would also give industrialists something to do as protos get made and lost.
