Topic: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

So let me begin with a big apology.  Dev Zoom we are sorry we blew the Steam market thing out of proportion.  It has come to our recent attention that this could promote a sustainable market environment and promote players actually doing stuff.  We Collectively from CIR/-77-, say We are sorry.  We now realize what you were trying to do and tbh, it was a really good idea.  We wish to collectively back you as a community by introducing Perpetuum to the Steam Market.

2014 May Dev Blog:

Steam trading and market integration

This is something that we still need to do some research on, but I’m putting it here because we plan to do it sooner rather than later. As you probably know, several games have items that can be traded via the Steam economy already. The general idea is that first you would be able to trade ingame items via Steam, for example your Gropho Mk2 for some trading card or another Perpetuum originated item.

The ultimate goal however is that we’ll also hook up Perpetuum to the Steam community market, where you’ll be able to sell and buy ingame items for Steam wallet funds. We’re approaching this very carefully of course - it could be a large boost to the ingame economy, but things could also go wrong with it.

After letting our very intelligent gentlemen of Hebrew persuasion review and analysis the potential outcomes we have concluded in our CORP only forum that this could indeed be very profitable for all players involved.  Please, Please, Please, accept our apology.

--I would like to introduce another Idea too.

*Player account transfer/sells.

-I would like to see player accounts that could be bought and sold in a secure way through AC website.  I would like to see AC be able to regulate this in a manner were they make 25% of the transaction.  This would help stimulate revenue for AC and would allow players to INVEST IN YOUR GAME.
**How does Investing work?  Simple, A player would purchase an account through the website for $26.00  They would sit on the account for 6months to 1 year than sell the account through the website.  The result could potentially be Steam credits, actual cash, or In game Nic.  This would allow for me as a player to invest cash into you while I received some kind of reaping reward besides a booster and a game.

*Re introduce ICE

- ICE would be a bundle of PC, enough PC to buy ONE booster.  I would ask that the ICE on the website be more than the base $9.99.  The ICE should be atleast $15.99 to slow some of the pay to win crowd.  Ultimately Perpetuum is a numbers game, and in literal sense there is No pay to win.  Even if you could stream endless bots from a station you would only be strong enough if you had a pvp force to actually take territory.  A lot of our older members used to buy ICE to reduce the grind in game so they could pvp.  I would like to see that again.

Thank you for your time.

I stand with Ville 100% on this now. I was totally wrong. Please accept my apology too.

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

-Let me expand more:

There are players such as myself and Jita who want to see this game do great things.  We have repeatedly stated that many many times.  I have watched the market and its behaviors for the past few months and it is slowing down more and more.  When we had ICE in the market players actually worked towards something; however, because of terrible Gamma design the market was super saturated with minerals and stuff.  I think it would help us as players to see stimulation in the market and in game activity.

If the game actually looks alive then we are likely to see more people.

And Truth be told:

I want free Steam stuff.  (motives revealed)

I support the theory posted by my colleague Mr. Ville PhD, and wish to go on record by voicing my opinion that everything is fine.

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

You should reconsider the Steam market.   It would have been fun in retrospect.

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

I am still not convinced about this idea.

Edit: What meant was for the Steam Market intergration, so many stuff can go wrong with that.

ICE and Character transfers I am all for it.

RIP PERPETUUM

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

I was introduced to Steam Market last week.  DOTA2 made me enough money to buy stuff I really wanted, then I decided to play more DOTA2 for more stuff.  I think if Perpetuum would embrace this model we could likewise ALL reap the benefits!  I'm sorry we were hardcore RMTing QQ.  We were wrong.

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

Does the game developer make anything off the transactions via Steam market?

Edit - Item trading?

See DEVS this would be great for the game.

I am sure there are new players that would love to get a hold of these higher EP characters and rename them. smile

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

Yes Gremrod I agree, let the Vets that want to sell their character for those new guys who want to step up and take hold of your game , and feel the need to  fight on a level playing field.

This game certainly need new blood at the top level. Specially after I have witnessed that sad shameful posting these last days.

RIP PERPETUUM

Re: Steam Market Revisited 2.0

Character sales should be public like in EVE though. But otherwise it's a good idea! big_smile

thats a long way to go.
Pictures on the forums requires just a checkbox selected in forum-admin mode, and a few forum moderators to enforce rules and punish violations.
Paintjobs still need lots of code into the client. Even though the last bigger patch had implemented something, its far from bug-free, and still lacks all the other stuff that will go along with it.

btw, there is a 99.99(period)% chance that paintjobs will require colixium at one step of crafting or applying them to a robot.
