Upcoming gamma reset is probably the only chance to bring back the old, connected world back.
Whatever was the reason behind network changes, it's gone.

More connections, shorter travel times, less time to find action. You could actually WALK around the islands, not just idle waiting for a teleport beacon to come online.

Or at least make the alpha teleports connected by neatly shaped highways.

Why exactly isn't it coming back? If playerbase in general thinks it's better(still up for discussion of course) and more fun wouldn't it be a good idea?

I don't really see the playerbase asking for it. Everyone seems pretty happy with the way things are.

yea that map is missing the beta islands (and alpha 2 islands) anyway. Not to mention when steam releases, and the pop explodes, they going to have to expand and push the gama islands further out to add more alpha, alpha 2, and beta islands, and later more gama islands.

You always have to keep a lot more space then there are entities to avoid overcrowding (which limits population growth). An organism can only grow as large as it's surrounding environment. ~ Basic evolution.

Eve online forgot this. Which is the reason that games pop has stagnated (remained stable.. sort of) But stagnated. Because there is not enough space or opportunity for people to expand.

Pretty sure the Perpetuum Devs will not make the same mistake.

Current system is fine. Old system was changed with introduction of interzone TPs and the islands on map became actual distance. Iirc.

Or even Highways that go somewhere meaningful - e.g. terminal direct to tp - at least on alpha islands - biggest killer for new players is travel times ...

Streamlined teleport network > spark teleport. Makes being a trader a bit more fun probably, too.

Told who what? (I assume the devs about power projection, but idk)

Anyway, the reality is the current tp setup is (imo) more annoying than the old one, for no real benefit. It doesn't prevent power projection which would be about the only positive thing it could possibly do. Possibly the devs thought it would create the 'illusion of space', it doesn't. If you want space add space. Mobile tps and sparks are a bandaid to a bad system, for new players coming in who don't have those things and have to walk everywhere, I feel sorry for you.
