Gammas are meant to be territory or sov control. You can move around, but don't expect it with impunity.
IMO the wipe is meant to fix tactics that were not originally envisioned by the Devs. Hopefully, post wipe it will be better balanced and still worth the investment to have a reasonably defendable base on Gamma.

I was wondering the same.
What's going to happen is simple. 4 teleport island will have 2 terminals dedicated to each tp. At XYZ range the energy network to support semi circle defenses. That's how players will get around cpu/reactor issues. Room for 4 production terminals.
With single tile terraforming I will be able to build steps and 'level' off the wall. Basically turtle islands again. So basically STC got bergers and imidiro shipped back to alpha, along with the STUPID amounts of t1 acquired from beacons.

There is a lot of 'unknowns' yet to make a prediction, like the cpu/reactor requirements numbers, or any limitations to terminal distances Devs may want to consider.
Apart from that, it's pretty clear Light/assaults will need to be stopped with turrets or the Beta introduced walls. Other than that I think it will be more or less free roaming. I hope this makes lights/assaults more viable and can make gamma much more dangerous, if not only reason to wipe Gamma is only an aesthetic one.

Can we get a beta wipe too? I have a lot of stuff I need hauled back to alpha from the beta islands that i'd rather not have to move.

OR make it so Terminals have a min distance between each other. in the order of 7km or something like that so placement of a station becomes very important.
Also add a MAX distance that turrets can be built from a outpost
Edit: just wipe ALL MPC assets from the game!
Give us Prototype buildings for MPCs so we can start selling T2 & T3 on the market & lets just move on.

after a year or more or playing with & testing Gamma since it came out on the test server i have to agree with Merkle.
Gamma to me just doesnt feel right / balanced / complete.
now i have to go wash my self
3 terminals per island, 5km between terminals could help a little.
Zoom, will you be releasing a blog soon about gamma's new "Vision"? I completely understand the reasons for needing to start it over buy I would like to see more public information about how the Dev's envision gamma going forward.

Now I want to mention this small change before gamma wipe now because may not be possible in the future. Ability to upgrade terminal from t1 to t2 to t3 without needing to deconstruct and build up again maybe to much to ask with such short notice, but I can say this has been one of the most annoying aspects when replacing low tier gamma structures.
Edit: Solution would be to place t2 and t3 terminals in a window on the field in a t1 terminal to upgrade to t3 then use construction blocks to complete.

Not necessarily, but it could happen if the tutorial testing drags out.

Zoom can you possibly give an indication where the Devs stand on the following:
Cheaper Terraforming within a set radius of a terminal.
Another class of terminal beyond the standard Main Terminal and its tech levels, used primarily for ninja mining, outposts, or sieges.
Terminals per island limit and placement radius from each other.
Distance terraforming permitted from external teleports and exterior coastlines.
Epri Beta only.
The ability to terraform short sheer walls or new wall modules to be used for base defense.
Current timeline for the wipe.
Location where items moved to, from Gamma.
Player built highways.
Better Concrete.

Wipe will happen in 3 weeks counting from when thread was made, maybe a bit more now that we know tutorial islands is coming in a week or so.
Terminal distances is a good addition, though you need to allow terminal upgrading tier system moving from a t1 to t2 and or t3 will be a PITA.
Just fix what is the game first...stop trying to add stuff.

Jita is just a kill board monger.. listen to his argument of wanting to kill industrials with no risk.... how's that a challenging pvp ?> that's a crap pvp player looking for easy defenseless targets to pad his kill board. absolutely drop a terminal on a mining spot and make the crap pvp guys shoot a few turrets to get to the easy defenseless targets.
Any news, about when we can see new terraform rules on testserver?
