Topic: New patch on 2012-08-22

The live server will be down for a patch on 2012-08-22 from 12:00 CEST. Estimated downtime will be 2 hours.

The patch will contain:
* the new spark teleport system
* the private transport assignment system
* MPC Aura buildings - delayed to next patch
* numerous fixes to assignments
* revamp of the beginner mining tutorial
* market sell and buy order extension bonuses increase to 5/25/50
* factional commodities won't require plants as components from another faction's island anymore
* adds new random NPC spawns to Alpha 2 islands
* fixes to missile and EW turret behaviour
* the usual smaller fixes and balance changes

Guess that means you still need the "ore" not found on that faction's island for all that faction's gear/bots? Still, a step in the right direction, can't complain.

be happy ville...

now you need exactly the same raws for Statichnol and Chollonin:
50 imentium, 30 prismo (plant) and 25 HDT.

and polynitrocol needs Heliptris and liquizit.

this makes robot production easier by 1 less plant to gather... hurray!

Change: Increased the speed of all missiles while flying in the air. (7-> 15 tile/s)

using missiles now feels like playing on fast-forward. Was there any special reason for this drastic change?
and wasn't it possible to make the missiles at least visually "accelerate"?

I'm being told the reason for this change was "for better farming, being able to do first damage quicker (npc tagging), and easier to get a killing blow in case of pvp".

These seems to be a very strange reason to speed up missiles flight time.

What is the increase on dps, now?

How will this change impact the current balance of missile mechs vs. PBS turrets?

You misunderstand, there is no increase in dps, module cycle times have not changed. This is purely the reduction of time between the moment you press the button to shoot, and the moment the missiles hit the target.

Hmm, that is an interesting change to missiles. It is probably for the best though, missiles looked like snails in the air before...

Looking forward to new players and new conflicts.
