Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

Gargaj said it's likely they're being DDOS'ed causing lots of issues. hmm
It's really not been a good week for Avatar Creations. Let's hope they have a super secret weapon or plan to fix a lot of the issues and finally bring Perpetuum to life the way it should be..

Issues highlighted today:

  • No/Slow Community Liaison or Damage Control Team

  • Susceptible to attacks

  • Limited testing of new features

  • Little communication with players about feature ideas until they're implemented

  • Jelan. Okay, this isn't a real one..

  • Good concept, limited excruciation

  • Bug fixes taking a long time

  • Hot fix deployment communication/excruciation

Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

best thing i read tonight after the DDoS attack, was some conspiracy theorys, like those are fake to cover for failed probe mechanics and failed attempt to remove them.

someone even said he sees ghosts...

I saw that too, I couldn't help but cringe reading it.

Looking forward to new players and new conflicts.

*edit: Please don't start that. - DEV Zoom

By looking at the user-peak graph it was quiet during the EU TZ night period, so the script kiddie thats behind it prolly was in bed...

Sustained attack this time. Absolutely horrendous whoever is doing this.

Seriously, find the *** already.

Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

Well the peak user graph is certainly looking lively, some of the prime time peaks are much better than they have been in previous weeks. Perhaps the news of the attacks is drawing more people in to see what all the fuss is about, any publicity is good publicity.

I don't really think there is much to do about the attacks / network issues except wait for the cause to be resolved or the kiddies to get bored.

Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

Again, I've noticed these attacks happen when the peaks are high, I so think its some *** who is upset with the game.

Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

Its true that the peak was not this high for a long time lol...

No *** Sherlock; you learned me something today!

Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

The attack is now targeting the webserver too, although this one is taking it slightly better.

It's not the best fix but could you not get your ISP to filter out a bunch of IPs if a majority of the attacks are coming from infected computers in a specific part of the world?

Also seems they gave up on the web server for now because it handled the attack better.

Not sure if it's relevant but there are laws against this and in recent years there have been a number of arrests and even prison sentences for people leading these sorts of attacks. I doubt that will put the person off that's doing this.

I say we swam them with mechs and take them out!

Re: If network problems persist, contact GMs or DEVs!

We don't have robots that can swim yet.

I'm not Sherlock, I haven't jumped off a building and survived tongue

Anyhow, I can only think of a couple of people that might be this butt hurt. Emo quit and the number of players went up so they got all upset that the game didn't die but green shoots happened when they went and now they want to stop that.
