I'm a bit old for this to count but I found Perpetuum on MMORPG.com in their Sci-Fi Listings.
Accidently found it when tried desperately to find something like Neocron
Searching for something sandboxy on mmorpg.com
Not that recently (about 7 months ago) but thats how I found perp.
Am a bit old also, but some corp members out of EvE forced me into it
I played in the Beta, but decided it was not really for me.
Then I got an email with a free trial offer if I came back and tried it out, joined a corp and got hooked
Just when 'other world famous MMORPGs' are dumbing everything down to idiot levels, a game with some complexity behind it was totally refreshing.
I was googling "Mechwarrior MMO" and saw it on a google adsense ad.

+1
same here.
I saw some people were using their free addsense words to plug perp, seemed like a pretty good choice of keywords
found it on mmorpg.com as i browsed the list.
I was just trying EVE at the time of monoclegate and I heard about the game in local.
It was 10 month ago but i found it in jeuxonline.info, quite famous for the French community
Eve refugee from incarnage. Kept seeing links for this game pop up on the forums and decided to give it a shot.
The convo I received when I logged into the game the second time from a GM is what made me stay.
I heard about it both on "MMORPG.com" and "virginworlds.com", two MMO and gaming
sites I hang out on daily.
The simplistic description of calling it "mech based Eve Online" interested me and I
finally decided to try it out. Btw- I'm always in the game for the crafting first, and
everything else second. I'm going to miss SWG forever as it had the best crafting
and vendoring system I've ever seen.
Your "signature" went on every item you made and you could setup your own personal
weapons shop with it's own vendor bot, as well as sell on the galactic market.
(sorry, started babbling)
I found it reading a thread in EVE around the time period of the 52 monacles craziness - 6+ months ago
sorry OP said new people but figured I would share
I saw a post on EVE forums about it back when its developers CCP fracked up a bit. Got here, checked it out and stayed.
But nobody likes me so nevermind

But I like you!
My EVE corp decided to check it out. Im the only one who got hooked.
way back I heard about perpetuum when playing eve.
I was playing Eve, and wondered if there was anything like it that was just starting up, I had to really search around, but found Perp was only out for about 30 days, which was exactly what I was looking for.
It's good to hear now that Perp is actually getting in front of new players, instead of players having to track it down.
Neoxx and you introduced me to it.
Neoxx and you introduced me to it.
now there's a name i haven't seen for a while....
Neoxx failed in his attempt to outpost me, and left in shame.
First i saw a trailer for the game on some gaming website around september/october of 2009, can't remember the name, then in March of 2010 while playing Mortal Online beta i met Blackomen through a gaming group while we were trying to get the hang of crafting, who was in the beta for perpetuum, he got me in and i have been here ever since, mostly.
I found Perpetuum on MMORPG.com in their Sci-Fi Listings.
