And it's not the DEVs who don't know, what is important. Most of you don't understand what this game need!

First of all it's: population

Not more content (there is enough), not new icelands (hell, betas are nearly empty, go there before you ask for more), not POS or whatever you want to call it. It's flat population.

um where were you a few months ago? the player base grew massively & now where are all those people? gone for the most part. why? player base wont grow lol if your dont have the content to keep them. I know this for a fact as NEX has had some 700+ people join to play this game & 80% have stoped playing for a few reasons... the bigest was: "yay i enjoyed the game but ive done most of the fun stuff over the last month or 2 & now what?"

The dev sell this game as a sand box game. How many of us play perpetuum for its pve content? there are far better pve games out there.
Yes the driving force behind games like perpetuum is the players but this game has horrible player retention after 1-2 months. Why ? coz after that theres not much to do.
Beta has been poorly implemented i feel as theres not much difference between alpha & beta in terms of rewards.

I get the dev team is small & i really do like the devs, but i cant put away the feeling that we are playing an anemic game.
The potential for the game is nothing short of massive. I guess i just want to see the future plans stated again since many of us older players have been waiting for so long now. this past year we have gotten 6 new islands & mk2 robots as the big ticket items.

I ask the DEVs this. If you wish perpetuum to be a sand box game. when are we the players going to get the tools to build in the sand box?
Devs when i read this blog back in feb http://blog.perpetuum-online.com/posts/ … /#comments i desided you would have my loyalty for the next year. And you still do im just frustrated that after all this time the big 3 (imo) Artillery,Terraforming and player-built structures. We haven't got any  updates on since that blog (if i missed a dev blog about then my apologies).

This is very true, currently my play involves:
Get NIC -> PVP -> Get NIC

Re: Goodbye Perpetuum online

i told you before...

you play a payed beta game. face it or leave it.

i still think the game has potential. but it will still take some time till it reaches the point that pokk has pointed out. ok im no 8 months in game. but hell why not take it slow. if you want to play 24/7 for months in this game then i can imagine that it will get boring. but if you play a little here and a little there then you can have your fun, and support a game that is not mainstream and most likely will one day be a good game.

my 5 cents

People are supporting this game for a year mostly based on potential. "It's not mainsteam" doesn't mean anything, but the other part of that sentence is important. More and more people are starting to lose faith in devs and their ability to actually make this (as you say) beta product a good game. Considering how long it takes devs to implement stuff, how they tend to take sideroads all the time (read dev blogs what and when whas promised) and lets face it - terrible (worst ever in my experience) PR, it is not surprising that people are saying bb.

Potential can't last forever - time to grow up is near. If devs can't deliver major stuff that they promised they should employ new people, be honest about it and talk to their player base or people are gonna start to think that they are being sucked for their $$$ on "it has potential to be a good game someday" so that somebody can play skyrim or fap on porn while there's some money dropping in.

you just have a look how crap eve online was at the start. look at the number how long it took to get that up. they also were nearly bankrupt once. yes its a small game. and if they would intent to be ready then they would advertise the game more. i expect more ppl to leave in the next months.

besides you can easy say just empoly more ppl. do you know how little the income is this game provides atm. maybe the server costs will be payed with this. but surely you can not supply even a single computer scientist with this. they do this mostly in their free time. with a small team. you know that and *** around that you want more and want it faster will not make it quicker.

im not  fanboy. shurely i would like to see a lot of things happen earlier. i am self employed myself, and i know how much work is behind such things. so i do understand that these things will take time. if you re not willing to give them that time then just dont do it. nobody will stop you. come back later if you want, or just move on.

i doubt the game is more to the defs atm then a constant testing and providing at least a minimal financial support. if they would have to make their living from this then this game would be dead long ago.

you only see your point of view. you want your fun. thats ok. but i dont think you will have what you want in the next three months. this is totaly a speculation but you can count yourself lucky if it happens in half a year to a year. probably later than sooner.

Yes I can - get more people - 1, 2, 3 as many as you can. Get more investors. It's called taking initiative! Try, again and again and again. If they belive that they can make a good product, if they can present a healthy vision of this game there will be someone.

Fire the ones that are not doing good work. Get another one in. You have a post from one dev how he got into this game. I'm sure there are more that would get in.

Do you know how big the income for this game will be when even hardcores say it's enough? Do you think it will be enough even for server cost?
Do you think devs had a good approach with eve vets surge? They made best of it?
Did I make their blogs, did I promise all sort of stuff?

Devs are not holy cows. If they do not deliver what they say, if they stick their head in sand I have every right to say what I think about them and their work. I am still paying for this game. For how long it is for me to decide. I know one thing - I'm not writing this in hope that this game will fail. I hope it will work out, but hey - its not all milk and honey in the land of Nia and I don't care if some random guy/dev/we has his feelings hurt - it is like it is.

Re: Goodbye Perpetuum online

Yes Syndic, you prolly have your perpetuum to yourself soon.
Even tho I will not be leaving, I do agree on the op´s reasoning somewhat.

On many occasions I have tried adressing the DEV´s directly with my post´s, asking for a little insight of their game promotion plans in terms of advertisments etc.. without avail. Not a single response, not even a "no comment" or whatever. It might be within their internal policies to ignore posts like that. This game has solely relied on player enthusiasm, like Gremrod amongst many others, to promote perp in every little corner of game communities. But newly won players will leave after aprox. 3 month, because of zero content left to do. No sandbox tools, nothing for long term goals to work towards.

The DEV´s are totaly biased on who they listen to QQíng on forum and IRC, to implement changes to suit a few, which is very sad to see. The last patch is a total fail, in my humble opinion.

And yes, the game has a lot of potentials. But for how long do we have to keep up the motivation to login, until the potentials are unleashed. Promising ideas will not keep motivation up forever. Whats all up with the promised terra forming, POS, etc..? Whats up with the risk vs. reward living on beta? Whats up with alliance features? etc... etc...

I have been playing this game for close to a year now, and its getting tiring to keep up the motivation.
If I hadn´t such a great team in my corp, I would have left for laters a long time ago.

Re: Goodbye Perpetuum online

Where would the world be without its armchair experts?

How many of our self styled internet oracles, our sooth sayers of woe as it were, have seriously been involved in selling a story?  That is what is being sold here you know; you're crying out for the next chapter so you will know what happens to you.

'Content' doesn't mean a new mission or another robot or even a better way to digitally humiliate eachother, the content you want is an idea that allows your existence in a world bereft of ethics, morals and all the other social hubris that otherwise harasses you to progress; you want your next chapter.

Now, consider for a moment that the underlying concept that supports this idea requires universal appeal and application.  Essentially you are complaining that a story of your own making isn't progressing quickly enough because the universal themes you require are not been supplied to your digital entity; this then begs the question what of all the others?

"If I hadn´t such a great team in my corp, I would have left for laters a long time ago"

Writing a story is hard, writing a story with no characters is really hard... but writing a story where the protagonist is the quintesential Grey Man is a monumental undertaking.  Be patient and enjoy the social aspects; your character in this game is very much up to you.

Your problem that you're playing this game as an armchair developer because you're so emotionally invested in this game's potential and eventual chance of success. It's just a game. Games are created, games die, and there is always another game.

Ofcourse the patch is fail. You don't get to call 5-day CTA & haul 3 waves of pre-fit bots into an outpost anymore, and you don't have 110+ kph tacklers which can tank 3 observers indefinitely. You actually have to *gasp* be online and defend with what you got, not wait for 3 days of being camped in to finally muster 60 people to kill off 15 guys camping you.

You thought you were "something" because we took a month break from the game the first time your alliance threatened to rage-quit from the game when we camped you in. You mistook mercy for weakness. A thousand kills later in the last month, the realization slowly hit home what will happen when your whole alliance can't dock up/log off outside of 20:00-22:00 Server Time.

This time you can threaten to ragequit all you want... None of that will work because you'll have to beg the Devs to ban us / clear out our corp storages to stop us coming day after day after day.

You should have learned your lesson a long time ago in EVE... you don't f*** with the Russians.

Maybe if i give up, it was because of the general feeling in game. Dev's took the side of the strongers , because this new patch is exacly made for CIR/pets. Of course if they were in knowledge, that even with the world vs CIR/pets the game was going straight to a big problem. And now the result is that only a small part of the server will play in Beta... novastrov \ o / .

I mean how dare could you favorise a side so much in 1 patch ?_? You surprised me dev's ! For once i would say...
