Topic: Support Bot

I have always enjoyed playing a support character or healer in all the MMOs that I've played.

Why not make a bot (Industrial Bot) that specializes in Remote Armor Repair/Energy Transfer?

So far I think the best healing bots in the game are the Termis/Gargoyle, but they don't have bonuses to RA or ET.

Re: Support Bot

For working with heavy mechs the best is a Heavy Mech Industry.
The first few robots that you see in the game now were designed not to have specific fittings in mind. They had career roles but had some flexibility.

Perhaps later we'll see more robots with specialised capabilities but in a sandbox game trying to balance a healer style is pretty hard.

Re: Support Bot

remote repair bot = blue (repair bonus on nearly all bots)
energy transfer bot = green  (recharge bonus on most bots)
any indu-bot = enough misc/indu slots to fit for RR and ET

why is there a bot needed with a bonus to all this, when the modules do their job rather well on non-specialized bots?

*Disclaimer: This post can contain strong sarcasm or cynical remarks. keep that in mind!

because there is no BLU+INDY bot ? like rep bonuses and most slots able to house RRs/ETs ?

YES

Re: Support Bot

I have to agree that Indy robots should always be the remote repair robots and that they do a good enough job as it is. I do think they need more defensive bonuses though.

Re: Support Bot

I have a logistics bot, a termis with 2 remote armor reppers, 1 armor repairer tuning, 2 energy transfers, 1 remote sensor amplifier and 1 standard nexus recharger module on it. It's not acc stable but is great for burst activity. It's served us very well and I'm thinking about getting a MK2 for the role. No new logistics bot necessary.

Not really, most of your answers dont say why you have your particular opinion, dont really give any sort of direction at all and dont even contribute to the topic.

Why post at all?

Explaining the NO or YES decision can give other posters insight into your thinking and help them in the future to take that into account when working on new ideas for the game. This helps towards improving the game itself.

Also this is a discussion forum. You can't have much discussion with a binary person :-)

Re: Support Bot

I know it is old but I was searching exactly for this on google and that is the only thread I found about a logi bot.
Please consider it.

Re: Support Bot

We can have a special construction bot when PBS will come, and this bot can have a bonus to repair everything - how about that?

I like the idea, could also be easily balanced for PVP considering it does not need specific stats for PVE.

I generally find that it's really clever to give uses other then mining to the indy mechs so I would not like to see any race specific support bots anytime soon.

Re: Support Bot

All the industrial bots used to have teraforming bonus if I am not mistaken.

I don't think we need a logi bot, the existing ones work fine and they are already extremely powerful as is.

Looking forward to new players and new conflicts.

Re: Support Bot

Terraforming bonus was only on harvester bots and was already replaced with demob resistance. Also any bot have 3+ bonuses so it can be terraforming, construction, repair on new bot.

Would it make remote repping better, because its already extremely good.

If you made RR dependent on a bonus I guess you could ballance its use around a single class of bots. But I don't really see the point, the bots we already have do RR exceptionally well.

Looking forward to new players and new conflicts.

Re: Support Bot

If they add a remote rep bonus to a bot, they will reduce the amount repped on the modules and/or the extensions.

The logic is simple, if they currently felt that remote repping was under-powered, they would have increased those values, since they didn't, then its safe to say the they feel its balanced at the current levels. Adding a bonus to a bot would make it over-powered, and require a nerf.

So, in the end, putting a RR bonus on a specific bot won't provide 'more' healing, it will simply make it undesirable to use RR on anything other than that bot.

Keeping the 'bonus' tied to the module and extensions allows greater flexibility in using RR.

The concept of the logi-bot was to give PVE miners/harvesters a role to play in PVP. That is still completely viable without an RR bonus on an industrial bot. It's OK if other PVP pilots can also provde support functions on non-indy bots, the role of 'healer' shouldn't be exclusive to indy players. This is one of those concepts left over from games like WOW where players wanted a monopoly on roles so they could have a guarnteed raid slot. In Perp, there is no limits to the number of players you can bring, so if you have an Indy player available, they are going to be welcome to undock and provide support. If there isn't though, it should still be viable to have another bot sacrfice a body slot to put an RR in (and still be reasonably useful since the Rep valued isn't balanced around a bot bonus).

Re: Support Bot

I am for this but not now, because it will be overkill in pvp,for larger corporations who can field lot of logis...
Specially if he will have good bonus,so when u take two or more  logi bots with rr, its impossible to kill them!

But when u will have more players than it will be good ,because on each side will be few logi bots, and with numbers you will be able to kill them easy!

+1 but NOT NOW!
