Topic: Where to report griefing?

Can anyone tell me where to report griefing?

I'm not gonna mention names but the guy I want to report is well known and it seems to me the more people complain about him the more likely the dev team will do something about him or the mechanic he's exploiting.

Re: Where to report griefing?

What is the mechanic being exploited?

Re: Where to report griefing?

Yes, well that's frightfully mature of you Scarba. Meanwhile, some of us are beta testing a game. Anyone got any *useful* replies?

Re: Where to report griefing?

As far as I know, you report to GMs.

Re: Where to report griefing?

Report to a DEV or GM direct or by in-game email. Give the DEV or GM the exploit details please. At that point the DEVs or GMs will determine if it is an exploit.

Still follow the above after reading below.

As for griefing... This is a sandbox and griefing is part of the game. Of course we know you are beta testing, but so is the griefer.

probably the kindest you'll ever hear it said - good advice would be print that out and stick it on your wall next to the monitor.

This may be beta testing, but the devs have said time and again (every time someone asks for free EP, NIC handouts, reduced market prices, etc, so they can TEST) that they are trying to test the game as if it were released.  That means with people exploiting.  Griefing.  Doing things you might not like.

And that's why there are bug, balance, and suggestion forums and not "griefing" forums.  If you're really that heartbroken over being griefed in binary, you should go play something more feelings-on-sleeve friendly.  And I'm not being mean about this, either.

Re: Where to report griefing?

Thanks Gremrod, and Grind that's well put.

I think though that taking the attitude that anyone who complains of griefing is QQing is a bit counter-productive tbh. Even in a sandbox there are rules of behaviour - try throwing around some racial slurs in help and see how long you last.

Ofc we're playing a sandbox which is a considerably more brutal atmosphere than other MMO's, but we're here to test the game. If one person is causing trouble in the testing phase by using a mechanic, perhaps in a way not forseen by the devs, you can be sure it's gonna be ten times the problem at launch.

It's important that the community tell devs about what they find acceptable, and what they don't, because ultimately at launch the game is going to rely on keeping a diverse bunch of people happy. We're here to assess the game's playability in it's current state which I think extends to cover mechanics that have been designed in a way that may have unintended consequences.

Re: Where to report griefing?

if everyone was in fear of being punished by using/abusing a game mechanic, they might not do it, and in tunr it might not get discovered until after release,

as much as certin players are renound for their certin behaviour,i honestly think its needed 10 times more now and should be even encouraged.

and if it is a desired game mechanic, it should be also balanced and brought 100% to the attention of the community and not just dev's and gm's

Galahad, don't click my sig.

Re: Where to report griefing?

Well I for one know that at least 12 serious methods of "griefing" have since been patched out of existence due to me and the rest of the corp constantly using them. So in fact, we've done more than any other group of players to help reduce griefing, ironically. (Or at least the potential to cause it.)

Re: Where to report griefing?

Bunkerkind Anni, the "childish" attitude most people usually wear as a facade is only used to fuel more aggressive encounters in-game. Entire wars will be played out on the forums; this is where loved and hated alike will bare their teeth, go all "Yeah we'll see you 8PM tonight ***" and duke it out in-game, only to come on the forum the day after and report the climatic conclusion.

To be upfront, sitting back and enjoying what is already happening in the political scene is riveting and by far beat Hypnerotomachia Poliphili or Dan Brown any day.

Now, to the main topic at hand:  I think just merely "killing" someone and "griefing" them should be different terms for different situations. Griefing, at least the way I see it, is when the action of killing someone is done repeatedly, for no other reason than destroying any sense of satisfaction for the victim. In the case that there is no loot to be extracted, no reward for the action, and there is no offender but the sodomizer himself...

Well, even at that point it's very gray in terms of what should be allowed or not.

does that train of thought have a caboose?
