I love the idea of building an MCR (Mobile Construction Robot) that you drive/glide to the area you like.

I would also love to see a RTS view introduced with PBS. Drive the MCR to the area you wish to claim and deploy. This switches you to an RTS view and allow you to see what the terrain around the area is like for "Smoothness" Green tiles = Available, Red Tiles = Blocked.

The MCR should then deploy and open once you confirm the location, the driver of the MCR will be back in a robot (Perhaps of the players choice OR a Construction robot). The MCR must then be 'Secured' or 'Constructed'.

The original concept of PBS was modular buildings connected by pipes. Pipes being easily destroyed or intercepted while the main buildings would be massively resistive.

Terraforming should allow you to make more tile "Available" by making them at the same height as the deployed MCR and a near flat slope. Placing a building could cause the terrain to flatten underneath it as long as all times are at the same height and whatever an acceptable slope is.

TL;DR - Perpetuum does not suit static buildings are long periods of time. I would like to see a base where the main cost is placed on a control centre and modular buildings can be pipelined together for a low cost. This means that a base can be abandoned or left when minerals dry up or taken over by the enemy destroying the control centre and placing their own there.

Jasdemi, we're seeing a steady increase in activity. Small but steady.

What are you trying to prove? If you want Perpetuum to be perceived in a better light then stop making pictures that are dramatisations of the truth.

Perpetuum could be rich and growing but due to many different reasons it's not. One of these reasons is the community.

I'll prolly add it as a third option after Fullscreen and Windowed, sg like "Fake fullscreen" or "Borderless window". I tested some of it, seems to work nicely so far.

Would be nice to test this out. Add it as an experimental feature first and then iron out any issues and then make a feature? No need to add it yet if the console can set options that are persistent.

After last nights maintenance the client now says "The server is in stand-by mode" even when the server us up.
Someone forget to switch it over? I can foresee a lot of people trying to log in and not bothering seeing as the login screen tells you the server is down.

This could be a result of something changing and the client can no longer poll or check the server status but if that's the case it shouldn't display anything.

will EP continue to gain druing all server downtime's even if we get the down time added to account?

Yes

The fix has not been deployed. When they say Fixed I think they needed fixed locally.

If the minimum size of the map UI window is an issue you should raise it as a support ticket. At 1920x1080 the minimum size of the map is rather good but on smaller resolutions I can imagine it's annoying.

Did we just lose the web server for a little while or was that the devs testing a fix?

seems like a common problem, i play a few games around the world and dont get the same probs as i do with perp. when i lost my bot again my ping was fine, but it does spike from time to time. why put up servers up that cant handle the distant? any one got any other ideas on what we could do to over come this???

Most games don't rely on having a low ping or high FPS to keep the game flowing smoothly. Those games however tend to be snorefest theme parks or incredibly expensive server farms.

To reduce ping the only thing you can do is live closer to Hungary on a stable connection. The server is table to handle connections that are stable up to around 200ms of latency. However this usually means the jitter will be around 50% at times which could cause the odd D/C.

The servers not unstable but it would be nice if it was more capable of handling unstable connections. As much as the Devs say packet loss does not effect the client I really feel it does. I did tests by dropping the odd packet and it seems if you drop an important one a few times the server thinks you're done and closes the connection. It's not a big issue but would be nice if it could be addressed.

As Gremrod said, being alone on beta is not how they're designed to be used.

Robot explosions are annoying and many times I've almost lost a Seth when Mesmers stroll up to me but that's more reason to take a team and use demobs.

If you're going to play with the beta islands and beta mechanics I would take a few friends.

I have it on good authority that 62nd really like robot explosions on beta as it's a massive boost to farming beacons or NPCs.

sad

Also just saying this game isnt big enught for bring 5 frends just to have some thing to do during ur down times
Doing the spawns isnt that hard eighter but the problem arises as they blow up on u because they will always walk those 300m to just sit on topp of u

NPCs should be dead before you even get within 150m of you. If that's not happening you need to move to an easier spawn that doesn't use ewar so much. Also try armour tanking rather than speed so when you get demobbed you can move away, slowly but enough to get to 100m+ before they pop. smile However NPC AI should probably keep NPCs at their optimal range like they used to.

That's the number of forum accounts, which doesn't correlate to any actual figure related to the game. It's the closest to the number of Agents but even so not every Agent posts on the forum, plus there have been a few resets, etc.

A.. few?... Heh. I'd say half that number or more is reset accounts. I really miss the old feeds as well. Why were they taken away?

I wouldn't recommend this as a game feature because companies need to manage cash flow. The feature would promote shorter subs and more people leaving the game, because they know they can just buy back in at a later date. It would result in many players going on haitus until the population increases, but it won't increase, because everyone else is waiting too.

In general, I don't like EP threads. The whole game is about persistance, and that centers around 1 EP per minute of subscribbed time. Regardless of the thread being about new players trying to buy up or old players trying to buy back, its about trying to manipulate the core game mechanic to get around it's limitations.

Those were the days...

Too bad m2s is no more. Perhaps the terraforming will get people out of woodworks, and i can start to make new legends.

If PBS and Terraforming does anything but create whine, discord and strife I shall be amazed. BUT if that day comes and the player base plays the game as it's meant to be played (At each others throats, much higher than where they're aiming now) then I look forward to much "Siddy did.." This and "Oh god, Siddy was.."

You should be able to shoot tiles in general.

Graphically they also should make weapons that hit tiles not hit the centre of the time. Each "Hit" should randomise the location on the tile that it hits.

Mining lasers would look 50% cooler if they didn't all mine the same pixel. Let's do this the YouTube way.

+1 this to the top.. (Make a new thread for locking and shooting tiles and their graphical effects) wink

A lot of the highlighted ideas appear to be very easily argued about.
If the players can easily argue over the pros and cons of an idea I can only imagine the developer meetings!

But for what they do produce they iterate it well. The first release of anything is never perfect. I think Avatar Creations know this and expect to release something that half works and then later deeply integrate the feature with another feature to make something more wholesome.

And I am sorry Syndic, CIR is not out to destroy the game unlike someone I once knew. However I do think CIR needs another goal but world domination must get boring after a while.. I think we've both been there, done that.. Right? tongue

Snowman, I think you put what I was thinking down in words perfectly.
Either they don't care and they're planning to make a huge leap forward with "Perpetuum Real Release" or they honestly are seen to just not care at all.

I'd like to think it's the former rather than the latter.

There is a pod cast scheduled for the 1 year anniversary however if things change enough this weekend we could be tempted to make one covering the last two patches.
