Farming NPC's for 10-20 hours a day is perfectly reasonable, I can see how it's very entertaining to periodically glance over and watch the game play itself. smile

Quality stuff. lol

It's worth it to keep jabber up and running for drive-by logins. wink

Even better if you sit in TS playing fun games while ore mines itself. big_smile

Apparently it's not an exploit but it's still pretty dumb to use a bug rather than have a fight.

When we turned up to shoot your bases we brought a fleet with the intention of getting a fight. You choose to puss out and hide in eve. Now to make yourself feel better your using arkhes. Where are those unlimited hangers?

That's an interesting narrative implying we didn't already kick your assorted bunch of whatever up, down and over the curb whenever we felt like it.

Here's a small sample refresher;

Notice how it wasn't an exploit when homeboys were calling for poor unwashed cons to jump in Arkhes and go to montabis to sit on probes. lol

Beta lockouts are necessary for the security of any newbie beta operations.

Otherwise we'd be dropping out of whatever Beta station they were near. It's not like everyone doesnt have enough accounts by now. wink

Honestly the biggest bonus you could nab on your level would be Adv Robotics.

You could pour all the EP into Adv Robotics 10 and Thelodica 10 and get it out of the way, those skills are a month+ wait each to get to 10. Energy management 10 is always a good choice too, another ~month of waiting for that one.

Alternatively leave the big ones for last, get all your gunnery & engineering skills to a comfortable 8ish-10ish.

Don't bother with ballistics, missile launch (never mix gun types on a robot) and basic squad. For comparison, I have ~2M EP and I'm not even close to the point where my character is maxxed enough to start cross-specializing into missile weapons & missile robots.

I hope all these arguments that sound very convincing result in many Ictus' being fielded since they're balanced right? lol

You're missing the point Zortar*.

It's about phasing out systems that are the easiest to bot. Static spawns and liquid ores for starters. Or alternatively, reduce it to 1-2 star mobs (no NPC heavy mechs on Alpha) and drop the field size.

Lack of content is no excuse for refusing to fix bottable mechanics like static orange spawns. There will never be an economy with bittervet *** sucking on the plasma NIC-titty on Alpha.

At least when we ran beacons there were actual people at the keyboard playing the game. lol

we have been at these discussion before.
fact is not everbody wants to go to beta/gamma.
the game neaads a healthy economy of carebears. look at eve. most of the player population sits in high sec. doing their things.
if you nerv alpha too much down no one will stay in the game that dont wants to go to beta/gamma.
these ppl will not be forced to play the way you want them to play. they will just look for another game.
alpha players need enough to do on their own.

i think alpha ore fields are small enough as they are. and mining solids is a pain in the azz...
make them smaller in size ok.. make the tiles have more ore for that so one field has the same yield. so you dont have to switch tiles all half miniute even if you spread your miners around...

to make beta and gamma more atractive there have to be other things like the standart ores that are highly sought after. for now we have epri and colixum. sadly we dont have the high demand in economy yet that would make it rewarding o go for that. if we get a economy that wants colixum badly then this will be a different thing. besides gamma islands can provide much more content in the future. if the devs find the time to develop it...

1. Remove all static NPC spawns from Alpha.
2. Remove all liquid ores from Alpha.
3. ???
4. Profit!

Remove the opportunities for botting, they're bad game design. Everyone's quick to point fingers at corp-stockpiles being the reason for a dead economy, few have the capacity to understand what a NIC faucet botting is on Alpha.

Alternatively if you can't be arsed to develop the game and fix the faults, just make botting legal in the EULA then everyone can stop pretending it's a very riveting experience to shoot static spawns for 20 hours. lol

Nerf the hell out of it, Alpha should never ever have anything close to Beta income levels, and right now Beta is worthless in comparison (no risk for PVP, no explosion damage costing you loot, perfectly AFK-able with a simple software and a sequer full of ammo).

Food for thought:

The game got reduced to 3 viable fits and robots because certain sh*tlords fought their wars against us on the forums instead of in-game.

TL;DR

Explosion damage is Darwin's sword of justice striking down Mqx in the midst of the foul mouthbreathers.

Stockpiles by themselves aren't the problem.

The problem is there is nothing to use them on.

Beta has been steadily nerfed into the ground so the only real difference is +50 NIC on plasma and local epriton. Missions are more or less worthless money-wise for the effort required.

The most efficient way to generate liquid NIC is to do what a lot of dudes are doing all-day-erry-day build or pick one of the available botting programs, run it on Alpha for a week or so, cash in the plasma. No risk no effort except micromanaging ammunition and schedule for reloading.

Existing stuff has a value. The Devs simply removed any and all reasons (besides epeen) for using up existing stockpiles, so the only natural thing to happen is that stockpiles are drastically growing. Perpetuum was fun when we went to war for territory that was actually useful back in '10, now a days it's just bored botters fighting bored infinite-stockpiles and random noobs dreaming about overcoming 4-5 years of hardcore stockpiling.

Wipe won't solve it. It would just reset the stockpiling timer, until there's a reason to really spend resources the stockpiles will just keep on growing. To solve it the Devs would have to understand their own game and redesign the Alpha & Beta reward systems, which is a lost battle. Every time they removed a source of income (kernel sales, transport missions, beacon pits 1-2-3-4-5-6-7) the only thing they really did was insure nobody will ever be able to catch up to the existing stockpiles.

All that sh*t requires time and effort, the kind few people spend on their hobbies.

You realize it's a hobby & side-project for them right? They don't clock in at 0800 and clock out at 1600, if homeboy doesn't feel like coding this week and feels like playing vidya games, he's gonna play vidya games.

Remember who's fault it was we don't have red mobs?

Bring back red mobs on Alpha including roaming ones and you stop botters and afk miners. If people abuse the mechanics to be an idiot again just ban them like you should have done numerous times before.

We should have red mobs and training them into people should be perfectly legit.

There should be no static spawns on Alpha, it's botting paradise and it's being abused to hell and back.

Perfect safety of Alpha needs to be opened up to the troll, the griefer, and the scammer. Otherwise people will never get used to Beta.
