After only playing for a few days there is a decent amount I like about the game. I think Annihilator said it best though, IMMERSION. That is what I am not feelign when I log in. I am another 5 or so year Eve player. I liked a lot about that game, oviously, but a hanfull of things turned me off and eventually pushed me away. I was, however, immersed when I logged in. Reading through all the posts in this thread I have been trying to put my finger on what it was, but I am not quite getting it.

I do feel that , from my very limited exposure to the game, goals might be one way to get a grip on my immersion dilema. I know that when I log on, I am be-bopping about in a cool looking robot. I like the idea of it, I like the genre. But after all the years, I think I need more work done on the Devs' part on selling me why i am grinding out money. If I am going to spend money on something, give me a nudge at lest. I think after reading through a lot of the responses, I know I do not want a theme-park game. I like the sandbox idea. But it is a huge turnof when I read people that say, "It is up to you, be creative the game is what you make it." I want to log in after a long day of work, and some good healthy time with my kids and escape for a while, blow up someone in a cool looking robot, or be blown up, but I want some better background reasons why I am doing it. AmI fighting for a faction? Is there a force of good or evil and I am fighting for one of them ? Is it simply business and I am fighting for my corp to help hold or gain territory? Not sure, sell me on it.

I have about 9 days left or so. I do look forward to exploring more. I am without a game right now so I am hoping for something to catch my attention enough that my wife yells at me. This game is itching at me, and I hope whatever it is I am looking for is here in the game and I just have not seen it yet.

My compliments to the Devs on what I have seen so far though.

Well I recently came back to Perpetuum. I did this account when the game launched, but I was never hooked back then and left rather quickly. I regret that now cause now I´m having a great experience. I should have given it more time back then, but it sure has evolved and gotten better since as well.
But the most fun for me started when I joined my recent corp. There is alot more activities etc that we do as a corp, and I also love artifacting. But my advice to any new player is to join a corp ASAP, and I can promise you a better game experience after that. Ofc it depends on the corps as well, so be alittle picky before you choose one. Make sure that they wanna do aspects of the game that you like etc. Hope you stay cause I think once PBS hits it will get even better.

Mwo looks promising.

Yeah, MWO and Perpetuum should have a baby together. tongue

Offtopic: wish they implement similar combat mechanics like in WoT - that will be win-win IMO

15 vs 15 qued battles?
How is that open world?
Not sure I understand what you mean.

  • 2 aiming types - target/nontarget (in second case - manually controlled chassis turn and weapon v/h angle)

  • collisions

  • speed-up/slow-down depended on mass, reactor etc.

  • hitboxes with different armor hardeness

  • ability to damage modules causing temporary/permanent malfunction and/or negative effects

  • speed depending on ground type and slope angle

this.

If they would have it so you have the bird perspective when you move around, but as soon as you go into battle, you scroll into your bot, and have what you wrote here. That would be pretty damn AMAZING!!! It´s still a fantastic MMO as it is Perpetuum, but with a thing like this ingame, would make it THE best MMO EVER!!! I really believe so.

if you dont like walls, play eve wink

OK. But if I don´t wanna play EVE then... tongue

One thing I´m having alittle hard time with ingame, is the "invisible walls" all over the world. Since we are moving around in some bad *** robots, couldn´t we get, or remake some of the exsisting once, to be able to climb steep hills etc. Like dig in with their steel claws and move all over the place?
Put a cloak function on those bots, and have some miners move through a valley with bots like these on the hillside, and we could see some EPIC scenarios. tongue Ofc you would also have a way to detect those cloaked bots. wink But bottom line is I wan´t bots ingame that can run all over these "walls". Would make the poor autopilot function ingame alot better as well.

Since I came back and started doing missions, there is one little annoying thing that keeps happening when I´m careless. I know I´m not the only one that´s done this. Here people anme it quite often.
And it´s when you head out to do a mission, and when you reach your goal, you realize you don´t have the cargo you were suppose to deliver on you, or that you didn´t fit that scanner that you need to scan the enemy etc.
Would it be possible to have the cargo end up in your cargo when you accept such a mission, and have you get a message if you don´t have the right equpiment on for a mission? Since running back and forth is the least fun aspect of this game, I would love for something like this to make it alittle easier when your head ain´t with you. tongue

Basically what the title suggests, in the equip window the modules that extensions are missing for should be highlighted in red.

Motivation: A lot of new players are confused as to why they can't undock. This should make it clearer, and avoids them having to check info on every single module.

Either this or they wont be able to fit them until they get the appropriate extension.

They can also do combat missions as well (though in my opinion the travel time on this is still too great).

Agree. After the lvl 1 I´ve done the lvl 2 already takes alot of time to do. Dunno how bad the higher once will get. Shrugs. Need to tighten these up some, or increase the speed on the bots in generall. Hey, one must have a dream...

Rgr that. Thx.

...and i wonder how it works now. Since I bought a 1 month one-time code that I have active now. If I activate the 3 months I bought now, will it just start once my 1 month code ends, or do I have to wait the first month out before I activate my 3 months code?

Hehe, dunno if you misspelled wine on purpose there. Was funny with "h" in there. It got a whole new mining. I always have cheese with my "whine"... tongue

Would you be hydras that i wouldnt be surprised smile

So once and for all: Perp Devs dont drink beer. They drink vodka. All day long.

Huh? Hydras? Not quite following ya there. But vodka then!!!

The plan is to release the gfx update along with the PBS expansion - at this point it's less work to finish everything than to revert the changes wink It's mostly content that's missing, the new lighting setup is still in the works, but the code is basically finished. I've since moved on to implement the player oriented terraforming toolset.
The avatars will get some love as well, but only after we're done with PBS. They will need a lot of experimenting with different rendering techniques and some new content as well, but right now with the looming expansion they're not too high on the todo list as you might imagine.

I think the avatars are ok as they are but if there is nothing else higher priority for boyc to work on then I think he should work on it smile

Totally agree.

grafics update  - soon, since its necessary for the terraforming.

avatars - i coudn't care less, they are fine as they are wink

OK, so probably 2-3 month for the engine then. I know most probably don´t care about them avatars, but I don´t wan´t them to look so cartonish in this harsh world of Nia... wink

Heya.

I just returned to Perpetuum. I tried it at launch, but it didn´t tickle me enough to stay. I regret not staying since I think it´s quite awesome now. I just have two questions. I read in the dev blog that they are working on the engine and fixing the graphics to make the game look better. Is there a ETA on when this will happen, cause I haven´t found it. Also I wonder if there will be something done with the drop dead ugly avatars that we have? Haven´t read anything about this. I know this is mostly fluff, but I need my fluff fix as well. wink
