Heh. Nice. Reminds me of Combat Recognition cards in the army. This is what your enemy looks like...

I think one or two of you guys are trying to imitate your Avatars...

...oh damn, I just got banned from the game, didn't I?

What he's talking about takes a little bit of setup to work, but it's only transport missions. If you're concerned about EP on your primary character, then do it on your second account.

What you will need:
Navigation = 10 (or as high as you can get it)
Basic Parallel Assignments = 3 or more
Basic Robotics = 4
Industrial Robot Control = 4
(plus all prerequisite extensions)

1 Sequer assault mech

Then you run at least the four biggest transport missions between each of the three Alpha terminals. A half hour a day should finance everything you want to do on your main.

You can keep adding points in Logistics Specialization and other Relations extensions to improve your income, and it's one of the few viable Logistics builds currently available.

BTW, this is NOT the best way to make money, but it's really easy. It's also mind-numbingly boring.

I don't want this game to be easy.

I want my choices to matter.

Too many MMOs give you a mulligan. Too many make it easier than it should be to play the game. There is enough room on the niche shelf for Perpetuum to be more difficult without being unnecessarily so. If the games turns from a complex array of choices that matter to your agent to a respec/free love everyone gets EP because we should all be equal sort of thing, i'll be disappointed. Others will be too. For those wanting such a change, i get the feeling it is a vocal minority. I just hope the devs know that.

The majority doesn't post, because we're happy here. we don't need extra love even though we came in late. Not everyone gets the same opportunities in life. I want my choices here to matter, and i want yours to matter. If they start giving free passes, i for one would be disappointed.

I think a bonus 20k is a bit much, unless it was SPECIFICALLY added as market based skills; to get the ball rolling. Does suck that 'No School Today' and his 3 buddies lock .5 faster then me, then again I just go to places noone is. Not that hard.

But who cares what we think.. We should of got the game earlier then we did instead of crying our tits off.

Anybody notice that the amount of EP we got for early access is increasing? By next week, we'll have gotten 200k EP, free Heavy Mech of our choice, one million NIC, and a secret button that allows us to prevent all damage for 10 seconds at any time.

Welcome Adamant Stehl. I have a few comments based on your questions/thoughts.

Mining Data (and Private Storage) - you can add containers to your private storage to help clean up and organize it. It costs 5000 NIC each, but that's a drop in the bucket once you get started. I usually take one of those leftover mission Data consoles, right click it, and "Create Container" to place in the Storage.

Mining Graphics - Generally speaking, the world is somewhat dark, and it's sometimes difficult to tell the difference between Triandulus and the rocky spikes on the ground, so I think the mining cylinders are very useful. Besides, if you could simply see what is below the surface, why would you need scanners?

Immersion is something entirely different, because it's primarily based on your own perception of events. If you assume that the cylinders are how the information is displayed, then you retain immersion. If you think "that's odd that they programmed it that way" then you lose immersion.

Nothing is impossible. And I do not see any reason why they can't change it so, that they can assign 20k "starting" points tied and bound to each character. Completely seperate from the shared time accumalitive EP pool.

The main reason that I see is that people would then want to reset THOSE points. You already get a bunch of free Extensions when you create your character. It's not much, but that's the point. People already want to reset/change the few starting points they received.

I was one of the first people who requested a one-time "Newb Reset" on EP, but I no longer think it's a good idea. Even if they allowed everyone to reset their points once per account, so that I got to reset mine as well, I don't think it's a good idea.

The fact is, no matter what solution they come up with, someone will want it changed. Let's say they allowed everyone 1 total respec between December 15-30 this year, just to shut people up. On December 31, you would start seeing "I screwed up my respec, can I get a do-over?" posts.

No respecs. Just deal with it and play the game.

I think anytime someone in a PvP corp attacks anyone else in the game, the person they attacked should lose control of their bot for 30 minutes. This should be more than enough time to take the bot back to a terminal and steal everything out of their private storage.

And for the carebears it's not like we know which terminal has your private storage, so stop QQing.

Maybe if you control someone enough times, you take over their account?

Oops, sorry...my sarcasm flag was still on. ><

Tag a target with only 1-2 weapons, instead of all of them.
Then unload with all weapons.
But when the target is almost destroyed, switch to one or two weapons again.

Overkill wastes ammo, may not even save you any time.

This requires a little finesse. You don't want each kill to take an extra 30 seconds. But I definitely reload a lot less often than before, which means I buy less ammo in the long run.

1) You confuse people by posting like you are disciplining an employee sitting in your office instead of forming your posts like a complaint.
  a) actually, it's more QQ than complaint
  b) and yes there's a difference.
  c) we pay to play this game, so we get to make suggestions and requests. That doesn't mean we are their boss.

By the way, this belongs in Features and Requests.

And take a half hour and calm down before posting. It really helps.

I went pure combat spec here.  As a result, my engineering skills suffer.  I knew what I was getting into going in.  Could attributes be explained better (at all?)?  Yes, absolutely.

But I don't think the system needs an overhaul.

Just my 2 NIC.

+1 for comments from paying customers.

People were deleting alts they never spent EP on, doing the tutorial missions and gaining lots of NIC, mods and bots for very little time invested.  It did not reflect the time and effort required for anyone else to achieve the same thing.  It has thrown the market off a lot for the related items and needed to be balanced out.  This change will do that.

I approve of this. It still won't prevent this from happening, because until we reach a character limit on an account, you can still do it. But it's a step in the right direction.

The problem is that you will be out of EPs. If your EPs are spent even if you delete all characters and create a completely new one - all the EPs will still be gone and time you spent on getting more - wasted.

What I wrote has nothing to do with what you said.

There is absolutely no way to get back any EP you spend. Period.

So either deal with the points you spent, or create a new character and start over. Or quit.

I was also completely ignorant that my choices during character creation would effect how easy I would find it to learn certain skills later on.

Is this true?  What impact does it have? (ep cost, nic or both?)

I have 2 chars one pure industry and one pure combat are they nerfed in the long term?  How badly will this affect my future skill growth?

Well, depending on how you look at it, it may not affect your future skill growth at all.

If you play long enough, you'll be able to afford any Extensions you want.
If you quit playing, it won't matter that you took the wrong School or Corp at the start.
And if you're ultimately just too concerned with the min/max approach, use the following process to determine a choice of action.

1. Stop spending EP until you decide if you want to start a new character (on the same account) because you won't get back any EP you spend.
2. Calculate the EP you've spent so far and write this number down.
3. Enter your character into the Perpetuum Planner as it is right now, including all attributes and Extensions.
4. Use the Perpetuum Planner to create a new character, using your ideal attributes, but with no Extensions beyond what you get from attributes.
5. Buy the same skills in both characters until the difference in EP spent on both characters is equal to the EP you wrote down in Step 2.
6. Look at how much time it would take to gain the points you just spent.

That's how much time it will take to negate the higher costs for the current character, plus the EP you already spent. Decide whether it's best to keep your current character or create a new one.

Ps: Know idea if this is the right place to post this, didnt find any better.

Actually, this is a part of the tutorial. It's teaching you the penalty for not picking up the item you are supposed to transport. I should really go back and re-take that tutorial mission, because sometimes I still forget... sad

Yep, it wasn't easy but I pulled some strings. It will take some time but you will get your 20k EP  in approximately 2 weeks!

Yes! I win!

I don't have any trouble being charged a penalty for deleting a character. We can call it the Newb Tax or something. But then again, there isn't any benefit to deleting a character at all.

If you make a mistake choosing your Corp or School or Spark, live with the slightly increased Extension costs or create a new character. Better yet, create a new account, then choose which account to keep after the month is over.

If you're worried about the points you put into an Extension that you no longer want, there's nothing you can do to get them back so move on with your life. In the long run, those points don't matter.

Here's how simple this problem is:
1. Are you so unhappy with your character that you want to delete it?
-No: Continue playing.
-Yes: Start a new character and stop playing the old one.
2. The End.

Oh yes, I keep forgetting about this, and it's a very annoying little bug. It's like watching the assignments fight for dominance on my screen. It's nearly impossible to read through the descriptions of assignments in order without writing them down first. Definitely buggy.

Once a mine field is depleted from a tile, it should be gone. Presently once all mine fields are known, there will be no need for Area Based charges! All fields will be documented somewhere!

Correction: Once all mine fields are known, there will be no need for [you to have] Area Based charges. Anyone who hasn't discovered that mine field still needs to find it.

And btw, grats to you if you find all the mining locations. Why would you want to start over? There are currently enough complaints about grinding. This would only force people to spend even MORE time looking for ore, in addition to the time spend mining it.

The last page of this PDF has the information you seek:

http://content.perpetuum-online.com/use … _Guide.pdf

But other than that, the drawbacks to Harvesting (right now?) are that:
A) It's easy to do by practically anyone,
B) It's only (currently) needed to refine 5 of the 14 refined commodities.

So basically, it's easy to get and of limited use.

Maybe add the "Can I reset my extensions?" question/answer?

This game has had such a great release that we're already minimizing what's working. Seriously, think back to <insert name here> MMO when chat functions weren't working the first week, you couldn't use the Market/Auction system, and in-game mail was sporadic at best for a month.

When my friends emailed me about this game in beta, I had never heard about it before. After doing research, I was doubtful, because of various gameplay reasons. But I still bought this game despite its current flaws, real or imagined, for two big reasons.

1. The promise of better things. This game is just starting, and will be enhanced, fixed, broken, patched, repaired, augmented, changed, and manipulated for months until it either becomes something better or dies slowly. Maybe the bad is never changed and people leave. Maybe the good makes the bad tolerable. We won't know until we know.

2. We grow when we aren't playing too. With most MMOs and games, I don't get anything if I don't play. With Perpetuum, I can take 2 days off and only be out the NIC that I might have made (or lost). How cool is it to login each day and have another 1440 EP to spend? Seriously, at current sub rates it's $6 a month (when you buy a year). That's a good deal.

Right now it's perfect for me, because I don't have a lot of downtime. So the few hours I get to play each week are really fun. Login, spend a bunch of EP, run a few missions, and amass my fortune of NIC for when I have more time to play in the future.

Granted, it's a poor game design if players get more excited about the EP they receive by NOT playing, but there is still the promise of better things to come. After all, THE GAME IS A WEEK OLD.
