However moving the goal posts around and rebalancing won't make the game any more appealing for outsiders, aside from the ones already playing. Making big changes , like UI overhaul which was cancelled/postponed and the likes of new bots, if there are not capable of producing this in a short time frame, there is no point but hope for a miracle.

You understand it's pointless to add new features on top of the disbalanced game, as it means that the surge in player numbers will again be just temporary, and because of screwed balance/rewards/incentives people will leave?

I mean is it really THAT hard to get?

1000x this.  Players are very quick to spot imbalance and even quicker to rage quit because of it.  The only people who stick around in unbalanced games are those who have the advantage.

Who's sticking around? Come on... you know the answer...

Gr8 b8 m8.

I'll fall for it though.  According to this post:  http://forums.perpetuum-online.com/topi … eral-chat/

Less than what you'd find in your local restaurant or bar at any given time, but more than enough to find drama.

Dead horse is dead.  Please stop beating it.  Nobody wants to watch you beat it.  Go back to omegle.

It forces the owning corp to actually present the power it represents.   By that standard the mechanics are appropriate.

It comes across as penalizing because presenting the power a base owner represents is more costly than it is to grief a station down to 0.  That is a more fundamental problem with whole PvP system right now than just base ownership.  Effectively, it is easier to gank than it is to defend against ganks.  With no reward on the defender side for being in a defensive position the balance is out of whack. Even if it IS appropriate for defenders to have a PvP disadvantage there still needs to be compensation for that somewhere in the game.  You already know this :-p

I think it's a more unique thing.   Elite Dangerous rushed itself to market to beat out Star Citizen and Valkyrie. (and others but mainly those)  Frontier needs to pump out these features like planetary landing to stay competitive as the development of their competition continues.  But the huge influx of capital from a game release has already come through and basically blowing their 'in development' status.  They've already paid back their investors via release and so future investment HAS to come in the form of expansion packs. Invest cash -> output content = expansion pack.  Since elite has no content,  competitive features make sense to release in XP form.    If this were any other game with an actual story line  they would piggy back competitive features with new story content.

Subscription games already offer yearly subscriptions in the form of discounted month bundles.  Buy 1 month for $20 or 6 months fro $110.  That sort of thing.  Since the primary demographic is people with low amounts of expendable cash nobody wants to make the barrier to entry too high.   Monthly just works better.

I want new players to feel like there's a player base.  Not a tab that says General Chat(4). We need a more alive game.  Npcs that shout things in vicinity, superior observers talkin ***.  We need a little more immersion.  I'd like to be able to put up marquees outside my terminal.  I'd like to plant vanity items on my island like a robot head on a post next to a teleport, I'd like a chain to go around my chain with a $ sign hanging at its torso.  I'd like to see npc caravans spawn at teleport walking to a terminal and despawn.  Stuff like that!

So many dreams.  So much disappointment awaiting you.

I would think that you'd be a little worried that no one is playing the game.

How would that help?

Because your revenue is tied to how many players play the game?

Incorrect. It's based on how many [s]suckers[/s] people *buy* the game.

Zoom, you should charge for forum use. The population is much higher here.

Well considering my last support ticket is *still* unanswered I don't have much faith.  Though it would give the devs an opportunity to close 2 tickets at once.

I just honestly can't say im happy with being forced to move seths all around the map to do beacons. All game balances aside, moving for 10 minutes to get a couple minutes of action is not enjoyable.

I just recently beat one of the best games I've ever played: ironically another robot walking simulator called The Talos Principle.

Sunny, NSE started during Steam launch and took part of the Norhoop agreement, right? There's 20 in GC right now, it's different.

No actually it didn't.  It showed up with Ambedrake - Sept 2014.   You're thinking of a previous NSE.  Nightsong Entertainment is what Sunny was referring to and that began last September.

We had quite literally nothing and were on Beta in 3 months largely by our own effort.  CIR's boredom basically steamrolled us onto Gamma though. I think our first base was out of the personal inventory of 1 member...  it's sickening how much resources those guys have.

Seriously,  this game has a unique community that will absolutely never leave no matter what you do to them. It's ripe for the picking.

So I propose you implement the following pay to win options:
- Release T5 mods but players have to purchase the spark upgrades to be able to boost them.  The boosts are temporary requiring the player to spend more later.
- Super-nexus mods that are $$ only.
- Super PvP ammo that are $$ only.
- $1 to retrieve a lost bot that was blown up in PvP combat and all of its fittings.
- a $$ item that forces a SAP to unlock at the time of your choosing.
- a $$ item that does 10x damage to gamma buildings.
- a $$ market that sells gamma buildings

Just think of all the joy Syndic and co would have destroying people's hard earned cash investment and the following butthurt and vengeance streak these psychotic compulsive players will inevitably go on.

Have player spark's acquire an "STD" for afk mining.  Bots piloted by infected by this disease have *** accumulator for x amount of time until the player either cools off or spends real $$ to remove.

lol, the devs can't ban a majority of the game's population.

Nor would they want to. Buying more accounts is the primary revenue stream.  This game isn't subscription based, how did you think this worked?

I will mix this tread if it not a problem.

Anyway the new squad missions will screw your PVP life. I think we need a solution for that. Just leave the squad and  join is too much of a problem in PVP situation areas, so pls consider to some solution.

I think the problem is more how corps are forced to use squads to keep track of their members. The Squad concept definitely needs to be thought about more thoroughly and revisited.

Dare I even suggest hierarchical, similar to how nice it would be for corps to be hierarchical as well, or at least introduce a vassal concept.

There are several ways to approach it but I think how corps are using squads are certainly not how the devs intended squads to be used.

Probably just need to restart the server before any patches take effect.

Remember windows 95?  Anytime you clicked a button you basically had to restart your computer?   I'm not going to say that perpetuum is like the windows 95 of MMOs, but I'm not not going to say it either.

We could start talking about the PvP-free gamma islands again.    Unlock the base building content for the people who are not PvPers.

And by larger world he means more actual square 'footage' robots can walk and do stuff on - not just more dead space between islands.

I'd settle for a formula of what the current accumulator usage actually is.

Join NSE.  We don't have Gunner.

How are you still confused about this?  Here, read it again:

I haven't logged on in months so it's not like I have secret knowledge. I just know how to read:

He wasn't rejected because he used to be in Cons.

I never understood why they kept it ingame, and not coding the trade window to work on terrain.

Because they don't care. It works enough to work.

Botting will never be removed or fought against by the devs because its $$ for accounts.

There are no incentive for vet players to continue playing - in fact quite the opposite.  Sucker new players in,  they'll buy some EP boosts, they'll realize botting is how to 'win' the game and they'll buy more accounts with more EP boosts.

Keep the population low to decrease server costs and around and around we go.
