Speaking about weapons tho I have more thougths.

TL:DR - Give a rebalance to base weapon AP consumption to even the weapon tunings out again.

We got different AP consumption penalties for tuners becouse of the base AP weapon consumption. In that state you can't have it same for it will favor firearms and missiles a great deal. In current state firearms can still pack a few tuners without much significance on accumulator while magnetic weapons suffer greatly after putting even a single one on (go ahead and try firing all 6 EM guns on mesmer constantly after getting a single tuning on - without ridiculous ammount of Accumulator rechargers).
Now someone will probably think that the weapons need to be that way becouse of realism. I would beg to differ tho. We are using up ammunition - bullets have explosive powder, slugs look like they have a sort of bobbin, missiles must have fuel in them and energy cells are essentialy a battery.

Every new robot wave theres a change so im betting balance is in progress.
Without all weapon tuning fits people will have to figure out other modules into head slots - wanted variety? There You go.
Also since overall DPS will lower significantly now - maybe tanking rather than ehp will become viable?

But back to topic this is a very valid concern.
Lasers get +30% acc, EM get +50% and firearms +100%. Were lasers considered underpowered so the change touched them the least?
Those acc consumption changes are too steep. Single weapon tuning brings around 16.21% DPS increase each. Becouse the 7.5% RoF increase it was already more consuming on acc the more tunings were installed.
Since the acc penalty is cumulative it gets ridiculous very quick. Alot of times one have to consider accumulator efficiency - to spread it among both tank and DPS. Lets make a quick gauss gun comparison of putting more tunings on:
DPS -   ACC
100  -   100
116  -   150
135  -   225
157  -   337.5
182  -   506.3
It is basically inefficient to put any magnometic weapon tunings on.

The accumulator consumption increase should be same for all weapon types. Firearms might need an increase in acc usage for that. Acc efficiency shouldn't be suffering as much.

Lets consider a scenario where all weapons get +20% acc per tuning:
100 - 100
116 - 120
135 - 144
157 - 172.8
182 - 207.36
This look closer even tho true ACC-DMG ratio would still be more affected. RoF will increase consumption of ACC as well so with +7.5% at the 4th tuner we would get 33.5 increase in damage per shot with over double acc cost - Personally I would still consider it a bad deal - but more bareable.

It is worth doing PvE that is not missions in a squad due to EP rewards.

Even if it is a good laugh when people start missions in squad I think they shouldn't have to leave it. Missions should just ignore squad. The only way current state can be beneficial is due to aoe on beta.

We could use mission types dedicated to squad play - impossible to solo (alot of observers?(normal enemies will simply get outranged)). Lvl3 medium TAPs are kinda hard but those have certain restrictions (new players hesitate to venture into gamma).

Loot on red/hostile roaming large groups of enemies on beta islands should get increased to encourage hunting parties (and to make it closer to triple mission rewards). At the current state its much easier and more rewarding to just farm static spawns.

My take on hit dispersion and surface size.

Assumptions:
- 2m hit dispersion weapoin will hit 1m surface size target 50% of time
- same DPS weapon with double optimal range is twice as effective.
- falloff = 50% of optimal range value.

No plates (no changes to hit surface of target) and no weapon stabilisers we currently have:

My proposition:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ … sp=sharing

Numbers are a bit more balanced now. Missiles are not very accurate here for their special evasive properties. There is also a side note on demob but it is just a loose uncalculated concept for now.

Artifacts did not reset for me after 3 days. They did reset right after the patch however.

Velocity nexus might seem like a must but its CPU requirements makes it so one have to downgrade tight fits. Going that road we would want to remove lightweight frames next. We all know how cruicial speed is and fit around it. Navigation was an EP thing only that ended up being the skill everyone does to lvl10 before anything else so just a barrier new players had to jump over first.

Put Hermes into "dedicated exploration robot" place. Next sentence will make more sense then too.

Please dont nerf or change Ikarus - Leave as it is - as it is awesome! Increase its price vastly tho. I must say that "dedicated exploration robot"(which is Hermes) has got quite some competition. But with current artifact reseting system all it needs is doubling the geoscanner artifact charges range to win over any competition for artifact hunting.

Vektor and Locust judging by the number of head and leg slots are same as MK1 robots of other factions. Who pilots MK1 nowadays? They're cheap that is right - but it makes them a bad investment for a t4 set - I would prefer any mk2 of any other faction. I tried to come up with any decent fits for them but they all pale in comparison to mk2. I tried using the Vector for scouting but when I deployed it with just the LWF and saw 149kph the bot went back into terminal and more viable option was choosen (any other light combat robot mk1 or mk2).
Were they intended to be just MK1 and weakest of them all? Why?

Syndicate bots as they are now dont really fit into PvP meta: Slowest bots have best range, fastest bots have least range. Now comes syndicate who are slower and less range. Slow robots will not be used for soloing and robots with short range will not be used in larger engagements. They need something to make up for that.

    Increase their base speed.
Add an extra head and leg slot to them. Increase the syndicate extension lvl required to that of MK2 version.
Separate 30% firearms damage into 10% firearms damage 20% damage
Vastly increase their price (I would suggest 10 to 20 times more).

We would have then going from longest range and slowest speed: Pelistal -> Thelodica -> Nuimqol -> Syndicate. Do not fear syndicate would become overpowered - lower leg slot count makes them struggle for HP and demob res and shield tanking an autocannon combat bot eliminates the rate of fire advantage. So its ok if they are the weakest as long as they are the fastest.

My newbies learn more about how to play the game (and enjoy it) in 2 months then you did in 2 years of waiting for EP.

EP doesn't give you experience. You can have all the EP in the world, you're still gonna do dumb sh*t (like I've seen you doing) because you're a noob without a clue. Nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong.

You aren't uncompetitive because you're not on an even playing field EP-wise, you're uncompetitive because you spent X years afk-waiting to sit in the biggest baddest robot while everyone else who played advanced in leaps and bounds in their actual "skill".

The question is, is that due to bad vet advice or due to your simpleminded attitude.

If "dumb sh*t" is being careless of losing a bot (which I have too many now) then I would prefer to play a game where people prefer to engage. Instead you people prefer to cover in stations and ONLY come out when in advantage after checking all you spies and sh*t. In my times it was called camping and was considered being a wanker - but there is nothing wrong with being a wanker nowadays it seems so dont get me wrong.

F*ck, i'm only 600 rep with 57 millions.

600rep and 1b is done in 16-20h with less than 4k ep. And where are all the newbies now? I logged in a few times and 80% of it general chat was less than 4 people. And I was on my own on it once.

But back on topic:

The game is p2w the moment it allows cash for currency.
The game is p2w the moment it allows alts.
The game is p2w the moment it allows more EP for cash (booster).

If you think people will join an empty game and play/wait for xx years to get to the goodies - you are wrong. EP is a resource same as every other one - saddens me people dont realize it (or do realize it and hug to it as their only resource not obtainable by others claiming their superior "gameplay skill").

Stopped by to tell You something I found out today. Eve will be doing daily opportunities in 2-3 weeks. Meaning there will be activities that grants you some SP every day, it's to keep people logging in (I myself took nearly a year brake from eve with 300+ days in skillqueue). Seems like they want to help new players get up to speed.
I delved back into EVE after over a month here and I am really surprised of the activities in my wormhole. New players are grinding ISK like nobodys business - I swear they got addicted to injectors lol. Theres stuff to do again big_smile No need to look into other games now.

Appologies to everyone for stirring that s**t in here. Also sorry for some of my enraged posts - not used to forums really. Walk safe o7.

OK I am literally sick and tired of Your all "vets" COWARDICE! You are simply too scared that some new player can come to the game and surpass you after You loose your EP advantage and it's all down to skills. So you just cover in your little sandbox huggin tightly your shiny robots and only allowing others to play with the crippled ones.

"The game has a nice mechanics similar to Eve with Mechs instead of space ships. Unfortunatelly even with both DLC's you are still far away from reaching the full potential of even the smallest robots. This only changes after simply waiting (and we are talking years here) and there is literally NOTHING You can do to change it"

This goes to my steam review for the game. And it is all true.

Tackle, ew and RR are all more important and skillfull jobs than DPS.

How would I know? Maybe in 1-2 years I could extend my opinion on that matter, WHEN I get EP for it. What is the difference between having 5 accounts and having all those EP on one (still regarding to "ep is P2W")?

39

(102 replies, posted in General discussion)

A. Glad we can agree, thing is I would like them to be more of a factor over EP advantage.
B. They certainly arn't "free" when you have to pay for it - and if it would be obtainable via gameplay then its no more P2W than getting 1billion NIC for a tenner.
C. The whole idea is borrowed from it. Trying to twist it to not look like a simple "Hey, lets have skill injectors/extractors as well". But hey, im all down to stop comparing.

EP gap isn't a problem for my Mesmers - I've spent nearly 2 years heavily focusing EP for just that, to the point of being confident about using it (with various results, but if you're here to discuss my personal affairs - bugger off). The problem is variety - if I want similar results for other robots it has a "Coming out sometime next year" dreadfull advertisement sticked to it. How many more games do you know with a time wall blocking any character progress?
Also as I already said I know people who left becouse of it. And alot of them. I only log in for a couple minutes myself now, not much to do with HM except for grinding NIC. Those few minutes a day we had encounters where heavies are viable is not enough to keep my interest in. Small gand of heavies (2-3 robots - the largest encounter I've seen for a whole month of trying to be active in PvP was 6v6 so I guess it aint "small gang") is too easily counterable and therefore costwise unjustified.
And BTW some people do not want to play tackle, EW or logi - it's an alts job.

Command ship being end-game? Are You kidding me? Never had problems with command ships on my main. If I get primaried then it means im doing something right for enemies to fear. Surprisingly in gangs people don`t primary the tanky stuff first tho. Also you dont need to drain an alt for injectors, theres other people doing that. Also I'm pretty sure I didn't need any form of cash transaction for that in Eve. So where is the P2W you are talking about?

So it is an "I win button" now is it? Darn and here I was thinking some player skills are involved.

41

(102 replies, posted in General discussion)

Are You saying more EP is "an I win button" ?
Clearly Eve is doing it wrong becouse 30.000 online is no match for 50.

(102 replies, posted in General discussion)

Thats what I get for posting in the middle of the night. All the costs I mentioned are for upgrading all of them skills from lvl9 to lvl10. The actual cost of all of them from lvl1 to lvl10 is 1.336.500 EP (yes that does not include that 2880 EP you start with into calculation). All at lvl9 cost 742.500, lvl8 are 475200.
You said maxed out I gave you maths for maxed out.
Im done talking to all you trolls - cant even do simple calculations, only weapon being insults. Go copulate with yourselves.

Now your just blowing smoke up someones a^^, I have 5 Eve accounts all with various skill point lvls all with different specialty. I know 100% I couldn't take my miner/hauler/jump freighter and make him a command ship pilot in an hour.

You are wrong. Look up skill injectors and extractors.

I dont use miner alts, so only needed 10 injectors for maxed out command ship.

It didn't even take an hour to be honest. Around a hundred clicks did it.

A single 400k ep player can max out all assault bot skills

Robot Control :
-basic robotics
-combat robot spec.
-hi-tec robot spec.
-nuimqol robot control
174.000

Engineering :
-accelerated armor repair
-accelerated reload
-accumulator expansion
-complex mechanics
-economical armor usage
-economical weapon usage
-energy management
-improved armor repair
-mechanics
-optimized armor usage
-optimized engineering
-optimized weapon usage
-reactor expansion
210.000

Electronics:
-accelerated target locking
-data processing
-demobilization
-long distance EW
-long range targeting
-optimized EW usage
66.000

Weapon usage :
-basic magnetostatic
-critical hit
-general firing
-improved falloff
-rapid firing
-sharpshooting
-target analysis
144.000

So all of those skills at lvl10 are worth 594.000 EP.

So its all DLC + 137 days with ep booster ( 3288 hours ).

Now I got the maxed arbalest basic skills. But You, veteran plaer, would put more skills in before venturing out would You not?

So for a new player to avoid waiting and get the full-single-bot-fit pvp potential he needs 294.000 more than he is getting. This looks like a job for 2 more DLC's similar in size to the previous.

Or would you rather refuse this sort of activity for newcomers?

(102 replies, posted in General discussion)

Getting a bot is the easy part. Anyway, if you lessen the 300k ep by decent harvesting skills then its even less of a combat ready pilot. Also heavy mech makes around 150mil/h on alpha but not decent - a good one.

Noone got kicked out of ETHOS solely for loosing any number of bots.

Never had to wait for 6 months for anything in Eve. It was 2 maximum for learning skills when those were still a thing. Probably becouse there always were large number of players with similar SP levels = activity. With our numbers you're down to whatever is happening at the moment. Creating multiple alts partially solves that problem, but is it really necessary? Also I was looking at one of my alts in Eve today and thought - "Wouldn't it be nice for him to fly a command ship" and I did so an hour and 5mil SP later. Now if that would be equivalent to 7 month old 14mil SP character we get with DLC that would be an excuse of a command ship instead of a real thing (unless were talking off grid boosting).

Whats so scary about players having more EP at the start? Maybe you need an option to trade EP for credits but only when above 500k EP? Or you simply want to play by yourselves?

(deleted-edit)
Actually I'm not gonna argue and go further into offtopic.

I have said how things look from my perspective. Mentioned why most of my friends left. If youre hoping for new players to stay when they realize how long would they need to wait to achieve a single fit to competitive level - wait and see. I only hope there will be a game to come back to after all that time and cash investment. With bigger than 5v5 "battles".

47

(102 replies, posted in General discussion)

120k+140k+40k = 300k

Where am I wrong exactly?

Also 7-8 skills in a mech makes you competent, not competitive. Competent is not good enough for 1v1 situations.

I am also not talking about huge changes to the game mechanics. More DLC would do it or an option to transmute credits into EP. Dont tell me programming that is so much time consuming.

First post in this topic was my impression when I just returned to game. This one is 1 month later after taking rather active part in the world of Nia.

We all saw the new player spike when the DLC got introduced. Some of them left becouse of the state the market is in. Some left becouse theres not enough PvE content for them. Some left becouse of impossibility to become competitive in PvP.

For me its a closed circle:
Most players who wants to PvP thrive on competitiveness of it. 300k EP you get when you start with both DLC is not even enough to max out a single light bot, single role with a single fit. So forget about getting any new hardcore PvPer in perpetuum becouse those dont like being underdogs with no options to change that (other than going AFK for a year or two). They leave.
Becouse "oldtime" PvP players are supplying themselves new producer players have noone to sell their merchandise to. Some grind missions/kernels to get more options in hope to get customers when a wider variety of products is presented but fail to sell those too. They leave.
PvE/miners grind for a bit but regardless of the fun involved in it ultimately their raw materials either dont see any buyers or only the underpriced offers that are pretty much scams feeding on newbros (missions pay much better for those even on alpha - and most of them dont even realise that). Those who do sell are presented with an empty market for their hard earned NIC. They leave.

Lets do everyones favorite thing now - Eve comparison! When new players were unable to do competitive pvp looong time ago they introduced character transfers. Now its skill injectors/extractors which contributed to both new players income and old timers return to get the skills needed. PLEX prices dropped by 20-30% over 2 months! End of comparison.

Sure, some can pretend everything is fine running around in 2mil+ EP combat pilots kill whoring the newbies. Unfortunately most of forum activity are those few players. Do pretend its the way it is supposed to be - playerbase clearly shows that right?

After all that time I described in first post I thought I have the skills needed, it turned out false - much much more is required (one simply cant focus on 1 with such low playerbase a wider variety is needed), especially that difference between minimal and maximum skills is far greater than in other games of this type. So what are my options? Build up stuff? I got a few stacks of pretty much everything I need so no need. Wait for more EP? Damn straight! Therefore I will see you guys every 3 days or utill things change o7 (also during downtime wink ).

My 12 cents.

1. Agreed, more variety would be nice - but too much specialisation and were killing the soloing aspect. I would like to see troiar changed tho - move 2 hand slots into head.
2. Certainly - tho I would love to see some of those without possibility to build on them and really hard  NPC spawns (and possibly rewarding?) also - artificing anyone?
3.  We definitely need an island in the middle of nia connecting 3 main islands (to compensate for spark teleports) and if there would be a terminal it would become a main trading hub in game (with current state of market we dont need it being split in 3)
4. Disagreeing on this one. Its hard enough to find PvP anyways. And one actually can acces them from alpha. Their "separation" also makes them more avaiable to newer players due to low traffic.
5. A small number of field terminals would do it.
6. Remove the demob resistance on plates and make separate mod for demob res. Assaults would not have to fit oversized plates then.
7. This would only create smurf/alt corps to do it instead and create confusion.
8. Beta doesnt have a reliable noralgis - one needs to "ninja" plant it. The same way non corp people mine epriton on beta.
9. As much as I would love that myself I think it should remain a tad end-game.
10. My thoughts in answer no.3
11. +1
12.  Make it based on Total NPC kills on island per day (simplified) granting bonuses for each tier, and reducing 1 tier every 8:00 a.m. serwer time. Indywiduals could also get achievements(titles?) for clearing hordes of NPC granting them bonuses (PvE only or else its a requirement instead of possibility).

I never said waiting is the sole reason people quit.
And here I was thinking PvE in games as this is only a means to grind assets for PvP. I also have no problem PvEing solo, in such games one needs to figure things out instead of having a pink fairy poitning you to the next theme park based grind spots.
