Again: Im only talking about stuff that is going to be irrevokably and completely removed from the game. There was talk of returning TF charges to players that did TFing, my sole suggestion was give them NIC instead, if the charges arent going to be used anymore.

All of this is very subjective to what the actual plan is. I know Id only get about 60m or so back, but Id rather have that than useless charges.

Also, my suggestion was solely for TF charges and beacons. Not buildings.

and yes, the records go that far.

I joined more than two years ago (or atleast it feels like more than two years ago) and I have never regretted my decision. Founded by Rock Paper Shotgun owner Jim Rossignol quite some time ago, Ive never seen a group of people work together so elegantly under a single rule:

Be Excellent.

well if they take em, they should give em back when the products that were sold are worthless.

And knowing gamma warfare, itll just get spent again on gamma.

If TF beacons and charges are going to be cut, I suggest simply reimburse whatever players paid for them, as per transactions list. I just checked, the list goes all the way back to my starting playing, so there is no problem in records. Just parse that list for all charges bought, and reimburse that for everyone.

Clean and simple.

(Note: if only beacons go, then reimburse beacons and only their corresponding charges, etc.)

hey, maybe the server was so inactive they pushed their plans a bit forward. I certainly hope so.

A three tiered buildable tower, similar to the ones giving the masking bonus, only they give +(10xtierlevel) kph in an area, similar to the highways to be found on Alpha and Beta islands.

- They should be expensive to build, and require an amount of power which is not trivial, simply because you need to put them all relatively close to each other in order to have the "highway" effect that exists on alpha.

- Since resources are generally not an issue for a lot of larger corps, the effect should be for all, not just for corpmembers, so it doesnt give too much of an advantage. (demob resistance springs to mind, since you could just get a minimum speed of 30kph, no matter if youre demobbed or not.)

- Alternatively, maybe the effect only works on nonflagged bots.

From my point of view, its either that or a teleport tower, and I think that would be an unfair advantage; to get around your base/island quicker.

EDIT: sorry if this is a double post, Feel free to lock/delete, mods!

I dont thinks its necessary to actually make new bots for this, but just let the mods you fit have negative sides as well, just like the LWFs do (ie. demobbing goes up, speed too)

Also, gargs are TF bots, by the way.

But for a deTF bot, you could have a "mass driver", that either shoots pieces of land (ie. at the target, where the projectile lands, land gets raised) or simply an artillery like mod; important is that both affect your speed and armour in a way so youre quite vulnerable.

@Ville: I dont know anything about that little history you posted, and to be respectfully honest, I dont care about it, as I cant change anything about it and I have to work whatever is right now; however, I do think that players are underthinking their strategies, and that because "they cant do it, it dont work." is such an easy way to go about it, they generally do.

I have seen skilled pilots use reppers to an awesome level. I know I suck at em, but I know I can get better/manage my bot/accu waay better than just go ahead and say its broken and needs a bonus.
I think solo roaming is possible (or small groups anyway), and not just for the highly EP skilled, as always, you just need to know what you are doing.

-1 to proposed nonmod autorepair, or any kind of rep change
+1 to an added passive, lowlevel extra repair mod.

As long as its an option, and not a must.

ok, awesome. As long as everyone is getting the gamma goodness.

Which does beg the question, is there a gamma base built for new players? (or a corp that has a gamma base set to neutral?)

+1

It sounds like I missed out on a lot of fun, but Im really glad it happened, too!

So is PHM getting a base too now? big_smile

Because noone was probably harmed when it was used as a gate by.. whom exactly? Also, it sounds like a very random gate.

aaaaanyhow, I understand that the engine works that way right now, but putting it out there, and saying that it is intended to teleport over walls, why, you might just program in a short range teleport mod, so you can teleport over/through walls.

Im not opposed to the idea, by the way, it would make things interesting big_smile

Yup, I can imagine several ways to enter that base.

But honestly now: who is all affected by the smoothing TF loss? now you have to plan your terraforming more?

Also, our bases are destroyable, its just that nobody has tried yet.

Or, to say more to the point, nobody ever thinks of risking their bots in attacking a base.
Seriously, I want you guys to break our defences, so we can rebuild and make it better big_smile

EDIT:

@Zoom: I dont think there is a problem as we stand. Its all a matter of analyzing a base, and finding a weak spot. Putting all your turrets in one corner to focus on the entrance, leaves the rest of the base unattended. Also, I dont know anyone that leaves an agent parked somewhere 24/7 just to prevent TFing; just that its possible.

That being said, I look forward to PVP against PHM, and good going with that! big_smile

Personally, I think there is a lot going on for the veteran players. If anything, the server is locked in old alliances that desperately need some action.

Im working on a arena type deal, which I hope to open up to the general populace, and Im sure you could think of something too. The good about these kind of sandbox stuffs, is that you can make a difference.

I think Arga must be from the CIR Science division.

this seems handy for CTs which are past their prime like 10 ~30 point CTs that would normally be trashed.

well, looks like you guys'll be first to do it, do let us know.

(congrats, btw)

Yeah the rev amp requires you to go the extra mile to find good spawns, however I am liking some of the spawns on Beta they are quite nice!

Yeah, Im guessing its part of this thing to get people more on Beta, and make beta more attractive to everyone. Of course, the dangers of Beta offset this a bit, but I think, in general, the change is a good one. You can still do beacons on Alpha, though I'm not sure how much of a Corp Only aspect of the game that is.

Also, the rats on Gamma are LEGEN-waitforit-DARY.

What about the production in progress during the update, will it still be there?
