Specimen SAP rebalance is 3 years overdue. Just don't follow suggestions from this thread, they are even more ridiculous than the surrent mechanic.

I propose to add an energy transfer SAP instead of specimen.

While it sounds good related to the lore, that suggestion sounds like group active hacking to me. I like the variety.
I also think that a convoy type of mission is nice - changes the battlefield a little bit, and at the moment specimen SAPs require you to run a transport and guard it (in case any hostile force shows up).

The idea of Alexadar with a special manufactured good being required to be moved to an outpost is not that bad, in my opinion.

Direction you are running in is forward, and the way the "head" faces along with the guns when you are locking/shooting someone is ignored.
I assume that is what Doek means.

Can we know Steam launch date please, what's the point of waiting for patch, to announce this?

They probably want to see if the payment change / patch brings any major problems with them (as some of the past patches brought some bugs along. That's what I'd do atelast.

Wouldn't make a whole lot of sense without the gammawipe first wink

I don't think 30 bucks is too much if someone enjoys the game but to be able to make that judgement, one needs to have a chance to try the game out for free. Not sure if the devs will keep trials around but I personally never shell out any cash upfront for an MMO without first running a trial. Doubt I'm the only one, those games without trials are missing out.

On the other hand, there's a bunch of videos available on Youtube of people trying/playing the game.

If I would have only seen videos and not the chance to play Perpetuum before I paid for it I would never have started in the first place. Same for eve.

Sandbox game fights (not to mention production and storages) look very very boring to me, while I enjoy them a LOT when I play in person. I personally would never pay 30$ up front for an MMO without having a trial anymore.

All roaming spawns are static for now, as far as I know, and normal NPC spawns started to teleport and randomly explode when you run away although there is a path. Needs fix!

A question here, I may have missed it, please give me a link when it has already been said:
How will the color of a bot be handled? Will it fade out like the current color of bots does, and eventuall go grey (making it a time-limited paint, thus the need to re buy?)
Second: What happens if I pack up my bot? From what I understand currently a bot 'resets' when packaged, so will they have to make extra items à la "red kain" "orange kain" etc. on the market?

Note that this post is purely fictitious and not meant as a discussion about wether or not a wipe should happen. It's a pure "what if" scenario!
Also no guarantee on lore corectness, I tried my best to make it fit in somehow.

Backgroundstory:
The contact to all agent's sparks on NIA has been lost after a huge electrical storm, similiar to those making the sea of NIA impassable, has interfered with the wormhole which is connecting NIA and Earth, which ended with the  disappearence of said wormhole.

After decades the scientists on earth managed to find a new wormhole to use, yet the NIA they found was not the one they left:
The domestic robot population used the absence of spark controlled robots to regain control of their outposts and terminals and destroy all manmade outposts, assets or  contamination of soil on the 'Gamma' classified islands.
While the agents once again gain access to the robot technology on NIA, this time with the advanced systems of corporation shared research, new kernels and different missions and all the improvements the scientists made over the years, they could not manage to access the old sparks, thus leaving all prior pilots with a limited amount of control points [EP] and no NIC.

TL;DR / no lore version:
The game is reset, all previously subbed characters start with a slight ep advantage [200.000 EP], no assets, everyone starts on the new tutorial island.
What are your first steps? Do you start to collect kernels right away, do you try to be the first go go to beta/gamma or do you stay on alpha for a while; what would you do in an entirely new Perpetuum world?

Edit for Jasdemi:
TL;DR-TL;DR: No money, no assets, reset all bases,  200k EP,  what do?

I think those player and dev run events don't generate as much publicity as a multi-billion NIC corp theft or some other form of meta-gaming. That's what makes games like Perp and EVE so fun.

Brb, creating new character..

The article says that they're always open for freelancing, but do not promise that they will accept/post the article.

What I've thought about for quite a while now was staging fights or events for publicity.
It can't be that expensive to put up a simple T1 outpost, and split the playerbase in two even halfs, put them in cheap T1 equipment and have a good planned siege/fight with a planend outcome (or not), just for the sake of advertising.
The only real issue I see (and noticed for example during the Tellesis skirmish we had a little while ago) is that some people can't cut back their ego for a bit. If everyone would act like a reasonable human being for the duration of that event I think we could make it a lot easier for the devs, or ourselves, to do some advertising or even put together a communityproduced trailer (what awesome advertising would THAT be?! wink )

-1 to the topic idea; but I like the shorter CD for smaller bots, as well as the availability for a teleport for everyone.

Aren't you able to scan a whole island fast enough nowadays? Shouldn't you be able to have atleast the chance to catch an enemy scout? Also it would take a vital role from lightbots. Don't like that idea.

Everyone who still plays!

Either way, this topic is not about this but actual suggestions about how to make beta SAPs less blobby and better.

I may be late to the party, but actually I disagree. But I will leave the Spark discussion to the other topic.
I think synchronizing the outposts would help, yet not in the current situation. There are too few players to attack multiple outposts at the same time at the moment, so it would be a rather bad change. Don't really have any good suggestions though sad

No. If you don't show up to defend your SAP, the SAP itself should not be a harm to anyone. Don't see a reason to have a chance to lose a bot, if there is no actual fight happening.

New Crimea happened twice, 11:27 and the second SAP right at 12:27, raising it from 80 to 100 within an hour (we killed the first SAP, didn't do specimen.
Am I wrong or should SAPs only happen after 8 hours? Or is this a new feature?

Topicname says it all. I try to create a result item from my geoscannerresults in terminal, Window pops up "Server error". Yes, it is a new scan from today.

Same issue occured to Viirus, couldn't rename his Seth

You are, indeed wrong. We need to take an outpost to be able to mine epriton, since we can not stay in T2 assault bots forever. I just the the big obstacle of getting it, first, which isn't easy in the first place, with SAP times being in the middle of the night/morning for the past days (hard if you don't have both timezones covered) and this would make it even harder.

It makes a huge difference for me if I can just jump over to ICS-B to attack all the SAPs, or got to go and run from Tellesis. On ICS-B I'm right on the field, while when I teleport you may catch me on those, for example, or see me jumping, etc. It's a totally different situation.
I'd say that's the risk when you want to live on a missionisland: The enemy has easy access through the NPC outpost (and should have), which ends in the risk to run missions on beta. There should be a larger risk, otherwise the rewards should be significantly lower.
Well I think a vet has a very much easier time to get his standing back up than a newbie has, even if it's just the time it takes to shoot/mine something, adding up with the relationskills, better equipment, etc..

Yes, I would say that's the whole point of risk in eprimining and living on beta. I don't know how you experienced the game, but when I started out, we were used to vets killing us in our little argano hoards, while we were trying to ninja mine epriton outside of new crimea. I don't see the result being very different from that, it just should stay a danger to be on beta and at the same time, it should be easier accessible for new corporations, to keep the game alive.

If you target a NPC Island, you probably will do so for the mission.
If it takes like a week or something until you got it, your standings will be screwed, making you need to go back to alpha to farm it all up again, ending in double the time needed, which does not make any sense to me.
Yea, right. The stronger corps dont mind, which hold all the betas in the current situation, and they may keep carelessly attacking any outpost since, as you said, they are capable anyway.
Overall just makes the process longer and more painful for new corporations to a) get a beta b) make use of it.

What I get from this..
*make PvP not considerable for anyone who is new, and needs the money and/or tokens from missions
*make it, by this, impossible for new corporations to attack outposts on outposts, since a lot of the PvP guys like to do missions
*make it even easier for defenders to defend outposts

Overall: Sounds like a great change for the game to attract new corps to beta and promote newbie roams, yea.

Yes please!
