why exactly don't we have them anymore?

From what I've learned, people used them to harass people by pulling them into miners etc., trying to get them killed.
Since the DEVs here seem to try to deny people any form of fun via harassment, grieving etc., they made every spawn on Alpha harmless.

Correct me, if I'm wrong.

I just want to throw this out here, we had a member named Kustomrod.  Kustom is in Au.  He had TERRIBLE lag and constantly studder and high pings forever.  One day his router magically died, he replaced it with a higher end router.  After that he NEVER had a problem with perp again.  Just cause you can look at porn fine doesn't discount the fact that your router might be failing or your losing information on your home network.

I have my main gaming rig wired straight to a power kit to the modem and spilt another power line kit off to a router and it does stellar atm 150 MS ping.  when I am behind the router it goes to 220ish.  Food for thought.

I'm not an expert, but that is definitely not the solution in my case. Perpetuum is the ONLY application that I have these problems with. Eve Online, Team Fortress 2, World of Tanks, War Thunder, Teamspeak, Skype, etc. etc. have no problems at all.

Also, last week my problems magically disappeared, I had my usual 20ms ping again. Last weekend, the problems returned, Sunday evening EU TZ.

Currently I'm just trying to live with it, my internet provider wasn't able to find any problems either. I can still farm bots with 500-1500ms ping. PvP is impossible though.

It already is.  I'm trying to level the field for people with 1 account and free up some of my own accounts.  I hate to agree with Annihilator, but you really are hamstrung if you have only one account and it's been that way forever.  It would also be fun to control a squad of NPCs instead of always murdering or avoiding them.

While I agree, that solo-ratting should be REAL solo, not one guy with three accounts, giving a people NPCs to control doesn't really help imho...

But then, I don't really have any idea how to fix it. Maybe nerf the NPCs down to a level where you can actually solo grind them efficiently (esp. EWAR needs a hefty nerf imho), and get rid of the huge amounts of T1 loot that gets dropped.

At the moment I can't really grind solo because there's just no way to get my bot cap-stable enough with a repper running (even ERP don't really help), the reppers itself just don't provide enough rep to be able to grind mech/heavy mech spawns, and the amount of loot is ridiculous.

I've got around 250k EP purely in combat and fitting skills of one single colour bot. That is around half a year worth of playing, if you don't count booster. After half a year of focussed training I think you should be able to grind Alpha-sites without bigger problems.

Hell, in Eve I was able to grind nullsec sites easily after half a year.

PvE as it is right now is broken in Perp, and I don't know what would help besides a complete revamp.

So... you want Perpetuum Single Player mode.

So I did understand correctly. That spot I was talking about has 3 seperate spawns at one single location, completely consisting of tier 4 Mechs/Heavy Mechs. Each spawn spawns 2-3 bots simultaneously.

I'm not sure what you mean... There's a spawn of three groups of heavy and Mech NPC's. What is a "2 spawn ball and chain"?

(14 replies, posted in Q & A)

I have found a tier 4 triple spawn on Shin, containing nothing but mechs and heavies.

It has 6 to 9 NPCs in it, though... Don't know if I misunderstood you there.

I'd prefer drones though... I'd really like a drone-bot.

Peanut's stated aim is to kill the game. He repeated this many times in comms. He seems to want to do this by killing himself.

Ah, the good old Judean People's Front crack suicide squad tactics. That'll show em.

Cannot confirm, have found a similar spawn on Shin.

Friendly bump, just because I've talked to Silk in General Chat and think he is weird. I like weird people.

I've seen this occurring during ratting myself a few times.
I just presumed it was my connection though.

I'm watching 3 of my clients where the ping is slowly but steadily increasing from ~180 to 600+ and still rising.  Running traceroutes on all 3 clients shows nothing.  I think this is server lag.  Has been fine for days, no idea what changed.

EDIT: ... and then slowly back down again to normal

This is pretty much the same thing my client does now. Instead of constant high pings, it starts from ~100 and then goes up and down, up and down, sometimes up to 1,5k ms, then gradually getting better to ~100 again. Ratting is no problem, but you won't see me pvping as long as it does this.

Sometimes one of my clients completely disconnects. Funnily only one of them, not all.

I'll tell you: a lot more.

Quit being cheap and hire another dev or two or someone to do the heavy lifting. I don't feel bad for you at all because you are the worst about delegating. Just realize you don't know how to manage this wonderful concept for a game and sell it to someone who will do right for it.

This basically stopped me from continuing running assignments.

This whole scanning business in combat missions is crap imho. It's no fun running around for 10 minutes trying to find that artifact before you can finally pewpew. Also, it makes running assignments incredibly inefficient money-wise compared to just simple spawn grinding.

Either leave it out completely, or make a new type of "exploration" or "intel" assignment, where stuff like that goes.

Problem still not resolved, average ping now up to 500-1000 again...

I'd really like to play this game. sad

Okay, my ping got better today, but is still fairly high (about 200, usually i have around 30).

I did a traceroute again while moving around, also screenshotted that network thingy again after it.

Kim, that's what we been trying to tell people in 5 threads but since only two alliances living on Beta, not everyone understands what we mean.  Its not a we want to make more money, its there's no *** reason to live there but to mine Epi!

Well, I'm fairly new. I played for 2 months in.. 2011? 2012 or something. I know I was in an alliance was active on Beta and had a Gamma outpost (as a matter of fact, my logi-alt still has tons of stuff in one of the beta stations... sad ).

Now I seem to understand the underlying problem though. Thanks for that!

Ville wrote:

Its about nic/hour versus risk.  A fitted Mesmer MK2 costs round 150 million + Logi round 75 million + transport 50 million.  The good spawns are in the middle of the island or far corners.  I risk a quarter billion Nic to farm.  With interzones and log offs its not worth it.  Take into account explosions causing light bots not procing a can, sad .  I used to farm observers and caravans, they dropped T4 and beacons.  But the beacons aren't worth farming.  Its just not worth it.

If this is really true, then the game is in a really bad state... Beta doesn't seem to offer anything to players besides PvP. I really hope the overhaul of Gamma brings back some kind of interesting place besides Alpha... I love living in nullsec in Eve and I think I'd be very happy on Gamma.

Ville wrote:

Personally I find it frustrating switching to Alpha to farm versus farming npcs on Beta.  sad .  I hope something is changed soon.

Why? Because it's too easy or because Beta earns even more?
