You don't expect him to wade into this cesspool of a derailed topic do you?

Do we have an ETA yet on this next patch?  Isn't Friday the 'usual' patch day (I assume it gives you the whole week end to get drunk and shower.. maybe in that order). Am I optimistic in asking is it this week or next?

DEV Zoom edit:

So this topic has become more than what it started as.

To recap, the current options for what JOKE can do are (in order of preference as it seems to me):

  • Add 1 or possibly 2 new posts in every forum thread so people will think the community thinks opening stations will do anything more then allow joke to play station games.

  • Open up 2 threads pretending joke really plays this game and will come make the game great if they get their way.

  • Both of the above.

  • Open up a debate that has only options joke likes and pretend all other voices are wrong.

  • Do nothing.

Fixed it for you big_smile

it incentivizes players to make decisions on what they want to do -vs- a few loud players trying to lobby the DEVs to make game wide changes to their desires.

This gives corps the ability to:
Open the stations and make more NIC
Close the stations and deny lazy players access
Band together, play the game and take stations so they can do #1 and/or #2

Its a sandbox, let the devs create the sand and let plyers use the sand as they see fit, don't make the Devs create concrete that matches YOUR playstyle.

Could argue the reason we have 10 players online is because of the poor Beta ownership mechanics. I know we'd play more if more sides could co-exist on Betas and I know many from your side would log in more if the game had more PVP.

You guys have argued that point endlessly.. and failed at it.  If people wanted to move to Beta, they have plenty of ways to do that.  Again, New players don't care about this, its just you and the rest of Joke.  New players are bored long before they care about playing stations games.

So we could use the Teleport anomalies to teleport behind an enemies defenses on Gamma. roll  I see a lot of base construction happening soon.

Imagine the fun if you can tele behind someone's defenses and drop a TAP.. the explosion damage of your bot can chain react kill a wave of NPCs.. could do some serious damage to a base.

I guess you haven't be here long enough, when a surge of new players show up, vets show up, when POE feels threatened they show up in numbers (when needed) to say who's boss and spoil it for the new players. I have seen it all happening time and time again.

I have been playing since feb 2011, so you tell me when I have been around long enough.

Your problem is you still living this game in the past (like lots of other bitter vets).  New players will never get to the stage where PoE dominance will be an issue.  New players are bored long before that point, so they just leave.

Those who last 6 hours not sure how many those are not seen any, from my experience they last a few weeks, then there are countless more who have left after 6 months to a year playing, which you are right probably tired of the devs doing too much absurd tweaks for far too long.

Of course you don't know, you don't even play this game.  Didn't you officially quit this game? But still here you are trolling forums. GG

I don't think Vets are keeping new players out of this game.  Many new players come to the game, but they get bored and leave without ever getting involved in our long standing grudges.

I'm also talking about players that has not even played the game because the player gap is too large, no one is willing to wait 6 months of grinding just to be slaughtered in Beta, to provide content for POE. Allying up to them has always ended up badly in the long term.

What Player gap are these fantasy new people scared of?? The 12 current players in GC?  Maybe they are reading your posts and thinking there is some big scary group on this game?? wake up!! PVP is dead! PvE is dead! Population is dead!  Players come to this game and last 6 hours, not 6 months.  They log in see its dead and play to find out that the starter content is boring. New players are not worried about Beta, they are struggling with being entertained on alpha.
While all us bitter vets troll these forums and come up with absurd tweaks to content that has been in game for 5 years and DEVs waste their limited time on removing content and changing the same *** over and over again.

Time to go kick a puppy. fuuu

Vets are irrelevant. It's the new players that matter.

I don't think Vets are keeping new players out of this game.  Many new players come to the game, but they get bored and leave without ever getting involved in our long standing grudges.  New players need content to keep progressing.  Once they get to the point of needing to get into beta/gamma, then we should be discussing all these vet changes.
We need to get over ourselves and realize new players don't give a crap about who screwed who over 5 years ago, they just want to play a game and have fun things to do (which they don't)

+1 for new content

with the low pop atm, I am not sure this is a big issue or not.  We could squad up all the players in game and still it wont matter much.  But, ya the whole mandatory squad mission thing is broke.

I think Syndic's comments are closer to a realistic path then what you guys are spouting and I am not sure how that leads to killing the game.  The game is boring and unbalanced, we all get that.  But the solution has to be realistic.  The DEV team for this game can not manage to get large changes in. So you are either delusional, naïve or just dumb when you propose sweeping changes like porting to a new engine, changing the cash model, creating all sorts of elaborate concepts.  The DEV team needs to make small and continuous changes within the constraints of their abilities.  Monthly updates need to happen and they need to do small changes to make things better.
Why wouldn't a daily incentive to log in and play be a small gap filler.  It might get the pop up a little (hey, we might get double digits in GC, that would be nice).  Maybe link the 3 day EP to logging in and 'doing a job', instead of logging onto the char screen then going away for 3 more days.

You must have missed the spike of forty people who cane back for the stations opening post zoom made who then left when he changed his mind.

Ya, I musta missed that.  I don't think I am privy to your fantasy world.

Well, there's nothing high risk with beacons as they are right not. 3 vets can easily dismember any beacon in the game.

It is sometimes hard to find 3 vets playing this game. cool

Good Luck!
Its always good to see new corps stepping up. I hope you can drag some of your 'gaming community' to the game, more players would be a great boost for this game.

This whole topic seems like the island of misfit posts.

This past blog about the 2015 roadmap is completely wrong thing for this game right now, and it's won't bring back any more players. It might be good for the current player base, but again rebalancing stuff around is not going to cut it.

New players are looking for a better GUI, better graphics, larger bots and massive continents, cool gameplay features, since none of that is happening anytime soon or might never happen, I had enough. Sorry devs, this game won't get much if any more new players, just maybe a few that will get bored in a few weeks or month.

So farewell, thank you all that know me and this will be my last post.

Can i have your stuff? Srsly i'm new player and broke.

At least we made it to post #11 before we got the " can I have your stuff" post.  This is better then many MMOs big_smile

Give people options to enjoy the game without being forced into an alliance and there's a small chance the game might grow.

Current game:
1. fight and play to gain a terminal
2. use the open beta terminals (qty 3)
3. Use diplomacy and use someone else's beta terminal

Your plan:
1. use an open beta terminal (qty all)
2. Grief players as they try and use open terminals

Do you really think more players will come to beta if the terminals are open?  You must be delusional!  We all know open stations will just become the next griefing mechanic of the game. I can see a new player coming out to beta and then getting camped in by someone (with no sparks to help them out).  Let's all be honest, the agenda you are pushing is truly just for your folks benefit.  Open or closed beta will not get more new players to beta, time to get off the soap box.
