It is pretty ridiculous that scanning other people doesn't flag you on Beta/Gamma - it's an overtly hostile act there.

Zoom, how does npc spawning and AI touchups going to help the game?

It helps with the PvE content, which seems to be important for a lot of players.

What do you think would help the game that we are able to do in a reasonable timeframe?

* Unnerf solo NPC farming, I was making 20+ mil an hour solely in plasma out there + all the dropped mods using 1 combat 1 support and 1 hauler.

* Increase mission reward money 75%+, it's not even 20 mil an hour with max extensions which is sad.

* Add some more black/other color bots to the Syndicate store (people have been begging for a pink and white Ictus for literally years) you could even in addition to making it available for tokens/NIC - which it should be - also make a Credit purchase item that does the same thing to an existing bot (aka just swap the one you have in your inventory for the pink one, could just be another model doesn't necessarily have to actually apply paint).

* Unnerf group missions, especially for combat. Having people in squad but not around and getting their fraction of NIC/relation didn't hurt anything at all I don't understand what that was supposed to fix.

* Unnerf beacons, not saying make them how they were in the beacon pit, just worth doing, because right now they're not. Don't believe me? Check the market.

More work and not all PvE:

* Gladiator arena with betting - AC takes a cut of the NIC (money sink + gambling that is skill/fitting/luck based instead of RNG based). Modified mission area with set radius awards whoever is left standing gets the reward money (some percent of the total better) and are only flagged to other people who are inside the arena. Anyone who flags outside the arena cannot damage anyone inside. Crossing the border from inside to outside deflags the contender and they lose the bet (leave the ring). Could even raise terraformed walls around the area once it starts or impenetrable versions of gates or whatever. This is off the top of my head. Everyone who has seen or participated in the sponsored arena fights remembers them fondly and wishes there were more of them.

This could also be modified to allow people to bet on people in a given fit fighting a set of specified NPCs or NPC waves.

* Racing - now that there are highways seems simple to make a mission someone can accept that starts at a certain time and requires them to be with in x meters of a given location (aka starting line). Make the race a segment whoever crosses the finish line wins. Have PvP flagged and unflagged versions (aka Road Warrior or regular racing).

* Bounties - again, AC takes a cut of the reward money (make tax extension affect the outcome), can essentially be made by modifying a mission template probably pretty easily, someone buys the bounty it effectively assigns a standing mission to the target in a separate queue so it doesn't interfere with that persons mission running ability, and then whoever kills them completes the mission and gets the NIC UNLESS the target pays say 125% of the Nic bounty to clear it (and that cleared NIC goes to AC - again another sink that's fun).

Is there really enough money floating in the game to warrant T4+ items being 500M as ive stated before that's 9Billion for a black seth.  2.5B for a black bot seems legit unless you want everyone rolling in them.  The economy isn't healthy enough to charge these outrageous prices.  Anyone else concerned that they're working on NPC AI and not concentrating on stuff more pratical.  No one gives a *** about npcs unless it's for beacons which you've clearly broke, or you could at least do the Turrets vs npc.

Sadly, this is pretty much standard practice for AC. They've also already made NPC AI far more aggressive than it used to be, not sure what the new iteration is about.

I have the whole corp at Beta and the rest is outside of the squad. That is NO WAY!

Agreed.

I even agree with what Jita said about the payouts. After running a couple hundred t5 transports and some t4 combat on the pay is pretty pathetic. I like the mechanics better now and having the terminals just the rewards (even with maxed extensions) pale compared to other things like artifacting on Gamma or harvesting Nora. Hell mining Titan on Alpha probably pays better per hour it's just not auto-pilotable wink

I did mention it should not be forced. It's still an MMO after all and if you prefer solo there are a whole bunch of solo games out there. I still don't mind solo but I am probably the exception, most players when in groups will stay longer playing, that has been proven in Eve.

You can't PvP in a single player game. As it is, I think you can solo easily now if you're willing to spend real money for NIC. But if you actually want to do it all in game it's been a mostly downhill slope for the soloist with a few bright spots like Artifact Scanning. I've spent the majority of my time in game solo, even while in well known corps.

The game should focus more on getting players engaged in group play but not be forced to. Group play tends to retain more players.

Completely disagree.  Almost everything is designed around forced grouping. I just don't think people should be punished for grouping while doing missions, which is how it is currently.

The current mechanic dont encourage teamplays, and squads to do missiosn together!

I just cry about it.

And just didnt mention to have to leave the squad at Beta.

PS: did I not mention the tokens?

It not only doesn't encourage team play it actively discourages it. I'm forced to leave squad every time. The rewards are kind of lackluster but since the NPC farming nerfs it's the only thing you can do on Alpha. I can make far more money mining/harvesting/artifacting on Beta/Gamma but when I'm tired after work on a week day and I don't want to have to think/worry about it that's where I'm going; back to 100% safe Alpha.

It should be noted that just because one person kept logging in for a year doesn't mean he is wrong, there are thousands of people who didn't. Until we stop thinking in the box of our own experiences and try to think about the people who left and what they wanted we wont progress.

The game is a niche (MMO) of a niche (SPACE/SCIFI) of a niche (FULL LOOT PVP - the smallest). It will never ever have even half of EVE's population - but it doesn't need it to be fun and viable and, frankly, at this juncture, the game couldn't support even doubling the population with the Beta/Gamma 2 TP per NPC faction choke point map layout the way it is; the server/bandwidth load notwithstanding.

First, this doesn't belong in General Chat it belongs in Feature discussions and Requests where it can be more easily, and rightfully, ignored.

You readily admit that the current system kept you logging in for a year for "free" EP which is exactly what it was designed to do.

There is already a *** ton of ICE out there. I don't have any but I know that some people have hundreds. Increasing their efficacy is *** and does not benefit either the game nor AC in any way.

The account upgrades are borderline P2W (especially the sparks), but because they're limited to one time per account purchases it's not that bad and it gives newbies like Mroq the ability to not have to wait 3 months up front - it's exactly what it was designed and intended for - while also giving enough credits to fix mistakes or buy more premium EP time. It was the first thing I did when I came back to the game was purchased all the upgrades on all of my accounts, not all of which have years worth of stockpiled EP.

It's also a fallacy that this is the reason the player base is small is just the waiting. There needs to be a laser focus on PvE - especially SOLO - because it's carebears growing hair on their balls that usually brings people to Beta/Gamma. I personally like the low system requirements - however I do think at the very least AC could provide a high-res texture pack with a config toggle because a lot of people won't play games that aren't shiny - especially if they bought the game based on the trailer...

TL;DR - All of the OPs ideas are *** and ignore the root problems with population - namely lack of PvE *** to do (by actual lack of *** and mechanics that favor locking people out of things with the senseless removal of other existing things) and lack of advertising. AC can't rely solely on Steam and Facebook.

I thought the repopulation was dead since hero engine has stopped.

I have 0 interest in it, but I did read somewhere that they were switching the game engine and have already moved a bunch of assets over.

As for anything on the horizon? Meh.

I'm still waiting for the next/last big Witcher 3 DLC - Hearts of Stone and the whole rest of the game are/were *** amazing. I technically still have a Steam backlog and as always a long watch list but nothing other than that really stands out.

Annihilator wrote:

back in the early days of artifacting, there was an outcry about how artifact locations didn't survive a server reset.

a very small number of agents voiced their anger about it, because they used the featuer of spawning angry observers ontop of other player. (mostly for griefing)

that was the one, and really the only one valid reason why artifacts should not refresh ever.

now, years later, not even that one bad reason exists anymore.

Yes. More content that was removed from the game for no good reason. A lot of these things that I think the DEVs think are smoothing rough edges are actually removing character (originality and interesting quirks) and therefore content from the game. Griefing or not it gave spice to the game that it still sorely needs.

I found out the hard way after babysitting a friendly Active Hack SAP last week for an hour that it no longer drops loot at the end. *** like that just continues the general trend of *** over solo players and small corps which has been ongoing for half a decade now.

Why even focus on things like that instead of new content like missions on Beta 2? There's this endless cycle of changing mechanics in a so-called "persistent world", much of which is unneeded.

I would love to see the removal of probes (back to the original design), the islands restored to their original layout, and station mechanics back to the old way which dangled a carrot for the enterprising loot scoopers and blood thirsty *** alike (and FFS put *ALL* the intrusions in the log).

PHM/CIR are actively recruiting new and old players in all timezones.

If you're a newbie interested in any aspect of the game and looking for an experienced helping hand or even an alt spy feel free to PM or in game mail Crepitus (CrepitusPixelPornProducer) or Ville (Crusader/Phantomburn), we can help.  For you spies, you'll find we have greener pastures and your mains are welcome too. lol

Celebro wrote:

Nice post I agree with most of it, just not spark teleport. Removal was necessary it was too powerful and game breaking, no way around that fact.

Thanks, I would honestly be happy with it just being limited to Alpha. I'd have mine set a Tellesis/Hershfield/Shinjalar so I could do my market stuff. I see a common complaint of newbies being the *** state of the market and it is pretty bad.

So, I returned to the game this past week after a year+ hiatus and there have been many changes. Here is my opinion of the ones I've seen, read/heard about, and experienced:

The Good:
* Gamma is back in.
* Highways are everywhere so travel times are down a bit (though I still mostly autopilot myself so *shrug*, at least I have an option).
* The mission system has been redone - this one was sorely needed and I'm back to running transport missions where I started in 2011 because it's actually somewhat worth it now (although I still mourn the Golden Triangle).
* ICE is back in.
* Artifact hunting no longer requires a third party website/tool to be viable.
* Love the account upgrades. I have both on all but one of my accounts so far. It does stray close to the Pay2Win line but doesn't cross over because of it being limited to a 1 time purchase and not making it like $50 each or something and gives new players an option to be viable more quickly. I remember waiting around for months as a newbie for skills, especially just to get in to that new mech or whatever and it sucks.

The Bad:
* Spark teleport has been removed. I understand the issues and the highways help but I still can't help feel the loss of convenience especially for my industrial accounts. I would have preferred that everyone just receive the same amount and remove the skill say 2 or 3.
* Interzones have been nerfed to uselessness.
* Solo NPC farming has been nerfed to the point of uselessness thanks to the change in NPC aggro (which I knew was coming before I left last time but I'm still sad to see implemented) against support.
* Premium sub fee should be half what it is ($8/mo per account if you buy credits in $60 increments is high), I don't remember what it was before but I do remember getting year codes when the game was sub only that were like $5/mo.
* Nerf to all bot bonuses. This is pretty big (50% to 30% is a massive nerf) and it looks like it was somewhat compensated for by adding new extensions but not entirely. I'm not happy about this but at least it effects everyone equally.

The Ugly:
* The map layout is the worst thing I've ever seen in Perpetuum. Creating 2 choke points per color for Beta/Gamma, effectively walling off 1/3rd of the game each is just stupid. This, coupled with the nerf to interzones, highways to every entry, and the current probe mechanics it easily creates a situation worse than the spark teleports. The only reason this hasn't made PvP completely untenable is the lack of players.

One last thing. I've heard talk about RNG based "T5", I see the "requisition slips" in the Syndicate store. I do not like this trend towards gambling and RNG based stuff. It kills joy where ever it goes. I suggest you take a cold hard look at the wasteland of dead games who did not heed this. People don't like to work towards random they want a goal they can attain and be certain of the reward that follows.

**DISCLAIMER** As always, I speak only for myself; not my corp or any affiliates.

I would like to be able to manage all of my accounts from 1 login instead of having to log in to each individually to see how much time is left on boosters, if tickets have been answered, apply and/or move credits between accounts, etc.  Is this possible?
