The game was more full ~1.5 years ago when you left. Did you have a point? Correlation != Causation.

Rolafen Azec wrote:

Since the feasibility is a big issue what is the difference between this death match arena and just player run/funded tournament?

From the experience I have been having just paying NIC for a winner of "shoot others" type of event hasn't been a super hit. You can fault that me in that arkhes are crappy and in order to really count it would need to be consistent and predictably available. What I am saying is that the the gameplay pay off is suspect/unknown while the development time is pretty certain.

Then there is also the issue of who pays for the loss of the bots? If you are stupid/ambitious you can spend your earned NIC however you like including giving them out for arbitrary reasons. However if this island/arena includes stuff like free replacements and/or NIC generation then it will compete with PvE missioing and such which can be a little less straightforward.

One can also argue that this is already in game and called beta. If you don't need any reasons to lose your bots rather than to lose your bots you can already do that. but what woul be the difference. To prevent 2v1? Or have some kind auto-balancing between sides pitted against each other?

Well you answered several of your own questions. I think the last paragraph lays out the reasoning more or less though. Nothing about PvP on Beta/Gamma is fair, and fair does not equate to balanced (nor should it/they be). An arena would presumably mean gambling (which I already talked about semi-recently and I'm sure has been suggested elsewhere a lot) and "fair" fights with restrictions on what could be used (i.e. no one getting nexus boosts and whatnot).

This *could* be organized by players as is, we've done it in the past using chassis scanners and whatnot, but having a game-mechanic enforced area means no one can cheat. I'm not sure it would help the population much but it might help established players with a reason to log in. It was me and Sasaki or something like that in gen chat last night for awhile. Lowest I've ever seen it, but, it was a week night, it is approaching summer and some places are on spring break, etc.

I bought a brand new account a few days ago for mining. I bought both DLC for that account (not Steam friends/family abuse). I was able to get advanced robotics to 10 and industrial whatever to 10 and most required support skills to ~5 (pretty sure I got energy mgmt to 7 or 8) as well as set one of the two best sparks in the game and months of EP boost activated. With in a couple hours or so I was in a T4 Riveler after doing the tutorial.

It's true that I have the resources to out fit that account and a total newbie wouldn't, but any decent corp they joined would give them something (apparently not ETHOS though since they kick people for losing Termis's, true story). I could have waited for the Summer sale and got everything half price but I wanted it now and it's obvious the game could use the cash.

It's a great deal the way it's set up. You're basically getting a bunch of EP up front and good sparks for the same cost the base game used to cost with nothing and it allows you to be competitive, really, without waiting around for 6 months like you do in EVE, and more less, had to do here. I also like the way you can refund skills for credits to respec something or try something out and decide it's not for you without just being *** outta luck (*** combat missions).

Solo isn't the norm (very unfortunately).

Sounds like table lag. Do you have a lot of stuff in your personal items? You should try folders to lessen the amounts. I imagine the way they amend data is not built for the god knows how much stuff some people have in their personal storage - when the data sets get large you often need to either optimise of change the process, at least in SQL anyway.

This changed after "Server move" (what wasnt actually).

Someone was talking on TS about this earlier today and said that they reduced the number of boxes they had propping the game up not sure where they heard/read that.

EDIT: I hadn't had any disconnections in a month until the "unmove". I've had all characters on given island disconnect or sometimes all of them across multiple islands.

they NEED gamma not only for noralgis.
they need gamma npcs fixed so they don't shoot afk miners on gamma,
because of that, they cannot afk mine HDT and Liquizit there where they don't need to fear their scarabs killed by pvp nerds like you.

and because they cannot AFK mine there, they need AFK mining Energy wells, that are NOT attacked by NPCs to fuel their gamma defense turrets that keeps you PVP Nerds away from their sandcastles where they do nothing else but buildings stuff in quantities that are never beeing consumed.

don't forget, they need multiple t3 bases, because you can only have one prototype facility per terminal... or else you cannot produce at the absolute maximum efficiency possible
and of course, to build enough defense turrets to keep you PVP nerds away from their lone semi afk miner all over the gamma islands they "own".

....

(read the disclaimer)

Shall we talk about risk averse?

We see the *** talking non-pvper, whose corp has been around 2 years longer than either of the other 2, doesn't even have 3% of the kills and barely 5% of the losses of the corps he's talking to.

We see that the "pvp nerd" corp has roughly the same amount of kills with a few more losses than we do while fielding larger fleets.

Maybe you should shut your *** mouth Anni. As is often the case you don't know what the *** you're talking about.

P.S. Harvesting missions pay better than actual Noralgis does. Why *** bother? It's not like we don't have enough.

We had a NAP together to encourage multi faction PvP - something you wanted until you got back on Syndic's onanism. Killing everything that moves on Beta makes beta empty. People who have soft *** then hide under gamma turrets and nobody gets PvP. You know this, its not new news, you just flip flop relentlessly dependent upon what is good for YOU and not the game.

Look at open station, you fought and cried about people ganking and then flip flop to ask for more Betas. You have shown time and again that you care about nothing but the 8 - 12 people you keep around. So long as you have fun the rest of the game can diaf. Thats fine, not a lot we can do about it. Whats not fine is you acting like its not the case to waste developer time on some tiny insignificant problem when there is bigger fish to fry.

How about your take your propaganda to corp dialogues. This a bug thread.

Well that's kind of the point. With the broken NPC's on beta afk epi mining is possible. You balance fixing that against 3 people being able to farm nora in total safety then wtf.

Same again for fixing 'balancing'

Same again for fixing a bunch of stuff. I think it would be nice, dont get me wrong, i just think there is a better way to spend time coding and Ville talking about it being 'game breaking' is just absolute nonsense.

Jita wrote:

But it's not cutting it off from the majority of players. You know what is? Having place holder bases over all of game. Any idea who did that?

Very few people give a damn about gamma and those that do have plenty of gamma gear. You can build a gamma base with zero colixium, you don't need any. I'm not saying fixing it shouldn't happen but in the big scheme of things is it really a priority for even 2016? Of course not. It's not even one of the more important bugs. Ville posted a whole list of bugs himself and plenty are more important such as the storage log, the npc on beta or the plant bug.

I know it's important to those three or four of you (and your buddy mouth pieces) but if they said it was NEVER fixed what would the consequence really be? If your dying that bad we would be happy to sell you some of the 250m colixium I have in my personal and some of the t3 *** in the hanger, God knows I'll never use it.

Put up reasonable sell orders and you'll probably get some bites. I'd be shocked if you didn't know why we need it so badly, though, and I doubt your alliance members would appreciate the sale, but you're talking out of your *** as usual anyway.

Your statement about few people giving a damn about Gamma is only true if you're talking about vets because most, maybe all, of us are already there in some capacity. People who buy on Steam thinking they can get a game where they can build *** in a PvP environment have no clue about the mechanics, logistics, or politics involved in such an enterprise.

Yeah thats what I'm saying Ville, glad you agree. I mean surely those four people can see the big picture and take it on the chin for the benefit of the other 150 people or so who play and the potential people who would join.  Loads of people don't ever go to gamma and there is plenty of stuff around for the few that do, it's good to see that you can see how self centered it would be to use the limited developer resource fixing a bug that impacts only you and two or three others, and even those people are impacted so minimally.

At the top of these very forums it says P E R P E T U U M ---- GAMMA FRONTIER ----

Guess where you can't do *** all because you need Colixum to mine and it stupidly requires a *** tower be erected for it to work? Gamma.

Did you know that player built structures are supposed to be one of their key marketing points for selling this game on Steam and elsewhere? Where are those structures built? Gamma.

Tell me again about how it's selfish to ask them to fix a minor glitch and bad design decision that's cutting off one of the biggest features/selling points of the game from the majority of players. roll

The only people who could even potentially verify that would be AC employees and it's not like they send players surveys asking why they stopped logging in.
