Re: Pathing in this game sucks

Gargaj can we not have pin point pathing, where I set mini dots on a radar, then click go or something and then it moves, and tryings to navigate between each point I put?

we cannot even set waypoints by clicking on the map/radar - and you want to have wayponts for autopilot navigation...

come on wink

You basically mean daisychaining walk paths?

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

Makes sense, zombie can't tell what highways are and what not. Right mouse + shift to set waypoints, left mouse + shift to just go there and/or reset the thing?

When I first joined the game that's how I thought it was supposed to work. A Waypoint is typically something you set remotely. In current mechanics the 'waypoint' is more like a bookmark. You can only set where you stand.

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

I dunno what you mean by daisychaining.

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

Daisy chaining won't work either as their are plants on the way. Unless it works via an improved autopilot.

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

Instead of using the shift click feature on the radar and then the client picks the path,  I would like to *** click multiple little mini points via a route than let the autopilot navigate between those little mini points.  I'd like to be able to use it like this to be able to use highways, patrol areas for npcs, and use it to avoid areas were large amounts of plant life are.

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

Hm.

Let's say shift-clicking on the radar adds a new route point that it will follow after it finished the previous ones. How would you tell it to change its mind and forget everything that was set up, i.e. how do you break the previous routes? You could move the robot but it's not exactly intuitive.

I kinda like doek's solution of using both mouse buttons to mark intermediate / final points, kinda like on a GPS.

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

And whatever "route" you create make it so you can save and share it, create result item that can be used, like waypoints and geoscans currently can.

So I've been refactoring some more: http://i.imgur.com/tWRNETk.png

Tell me you double clicked from the start point to where you are now and your bot went the distance ....

Re: Pathing in this game sucks

Shift-click the radar, not double-click (since it's out of visible distance), but yes.

That being said the robot still has problems with the occasional plant but I have a solution in mind for that as well.

Would be pretty awesome if you could then 'drag' the path with mouse to create more custom route.

Okay, did that now, walked the entirety of Tellesis without user interaction.

For me it seems this function works better on light bots.  Anything quick seems to traverse the terrain and move with logic.  In my scarab I cant move more than 40 ft, same with my rivaler...

was able in the past to use shift click move on my sequer with moderate success...

THB I like the idea of plotting out a course, then letting the AI movement take charge when the path is blocked by say, plants....

Currently its the same as it always was...works so rarely I feel like I won the lottery when my bot is able to move more than a few feet without manual controls.

It is much better but still plants get on the way at times.

That's my point: I just fixed that, but the build isn't available yet.
