Topic: Camp Respawn Time on Mineral Fields

So on the fields that are guarded by red bots i believe the respawn time should be decreased significantly.  The reason being even with an assault bot constantly guarding a field guarded by 3 3rd star red bots its tough to mine without being swarmed.

At the moment it appears the the respawn time for bots is less than a minute, i propose this be increased to several minutes, possibly around 3 minutes, this would allow people to clear the camp and safely mine for atleast a small amount of time without needing a medium sized armed escort.

This could only be done globally for all spawns, there is no connection between NPC spawns and mineral fields.

Why are fields place on top of red npc spawns to start with. Novastrov has 3 fields with epirton that are on top of red 5 to 6 level 4 + spawns.
Will the epirton field change if we can't mine it ?

A line of code could also be introduced to a mining node that would decrease the spawn rate of NPC within a certain radius as well.

Many of us did mention this is not going to work well, eventually all ore fields will end up on NPCs, until someone manages to clear it.

To be clear: this isn't a case of "we told you so", it was pretty obvious that people will go for the easier locations. As long as they are able to.

I don't know whether we have arrived yet at the point where all fields are under NPC spawns, but if it's the case then mineral prices will go up, and that's that. Unless you think people will stop playing just because they can't mine because of the NPCs.

So, one epri field under a npc spawn takes what, 3 decent combats to control the spawn while maybe 4 rivelers mine the 70 ish mill epri in under 2hrs? I know WMM is newish, but you guys seem the most active for now, you should be able to bring the numbers to manage it. And with the population so low at the moment, you don't really need to worry about what is normally the largest threat to mining on Beta, and thats other players.  You are never going to have an easier time to get Epri on Beta than right now.

And how much Epri has your corp mined so far on Nova from safe locations? There are generally 7 or so fields on an island (yes I understand the fields spawn when the island-wide threshold falls below a minimum), but if only 3 are under NPCs, you still have options until your characters are more skilled and you can handle the NPCs I guess.

Its Beta there should be risks.

There are plenty of epriton fields close to NC without NPC spawns on them, just some patrols. Don't go for the one right next to your base, walk a bit wink

You can keep the last mobs of each NPC spawn's wave alive and just EW them out.

It's not about wanting to make things extremely easy, its that there arent a enough people around in general to make it so that an average person, or pair of people can control instantly respawning NPCs.

I think you guys might be losing touch with your less than elite playerbase and your small corporations.

What you're doing is making mineral camps unminable for the average player, you might as well remove them from alpha.

I supposed if you're intention as a developer is to make it so you need 8 people to clear out a field so that it can respawn in a reasonable location then atleast keep that action to gamma and beta, give the alpha players a fighting chance to mine our minuscule amount of crappy ores.

Edit : Once again don't think that i'm for 'easy mode', i think every mine field should be guarded by spawns of various strength, but after they die they just shouldnt insta-respawn, a random 3-15 minute timer would be infinitely more appropriate.

AGAIN.. this problem arises due to population. with a healthy pop it would be no problem. but with a small player base we arrive at this thread.

IMO leave it as is & see how things go post Steam launch.

BUT im betting we are going to see more threads about Infinite resources gathering (mining fields .. plants r fine) than this if the game ever grows.

This game needs instances badly for missions, mining etc. So Devs can have more control over the game environment. Having all activities on one instance is a nightmare to balance.

Even with a healthy population it would be a problem, you shouldnt have to rally the entire population of most small corps to get mine a little titan.

Make it so that one or two lowbies at the most can do this, atleast on alpha, and alpha-beta.  As it stands right now on alpha-beta two assault mech class people cant even mine titan ore in some instances.

And this isnt even getting into the roamers, which i think are pretty cool, once again not calling for easy mode, calling for playability.

this game is playable for newbies in alpha with non agressive npc and no pvp
in alpha+ the only "danger" is hostil caravans
beta is stronger cause pvp and hostil npc are free
gama is more yarr

build, trade, fight, think

In every island above alpha there is a danger of hostile NPCs sitting on fields and instantly respawning. The roamers and hostile NPCs for the most part are a reasonable issue that i expect to encounter.
