Topic: Business model

I for one have more money than sense and love this game. I still spend significant sums in games like MWO alongside this one as I already have 12 accounts running and more would make my brain explode.

I want new Mechs and Bots.

Lets coincide these two facts that are similar in a lot of your playerbase to move the game forward. You need money, we have it ...

What I suggest is building a crowdfunding side of the website that shows how much money you would need to fund the various things we ask for.

New bigger hauler?

New line of artillary?

Siege bots?

Specific bots for RR and support?

Donaters over a certain amount get a mercenary / vaguard version of what is made.

The details arn't important right now. What is is remembering who your REAL investers are - us. We've invested years of our fun in to this game and really want to help make it work. I'm positive you can raise thousands of dollars this way over the next few months.

Let us help you.

Star citizen is a good example of how this is done and works:

why don't we do the same.

Proverbs 23:20-21 warns us, “Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags."

Re: Business model

I think it's great plan. People could donate towards things they want implemented and if some goal were to complete, you could outsource whatever is needed to get the job done.

New models cost X and implementation costs Y? Add a donation goal of XY and when it completes you will add them. Sometimes simple things work best.

Re: Business model

I can agree to a degree.  Just adding in bots can be great in the short term.  In the end it can be a very sticky mess if not added in the correct way, or time.

For those of us who don't have pants on our head, Jita's idea would incorporate "Testing" and "Balancing" in the initial cost estimation.  Bar it would be a rough estimate but I can't see why having a test server and not using it could be useful.

Re: Business model

Making models for the most part is not too terribly hard.  Now, please take that into context, look at what EVE did.
They hold contests I think about every year, asking for people to make suggestions for new models of ships.  They get thousands of idea's, and quite a few of them are very high end.  That might be something to think of as well, I don't necessary think it would work with such a small base but putting it out there might yield results.

Every post is not necessarily a gloomanddoom post.

Overall people wanting to throw money at computer screen is never a bad thing!

Needs US company afaik and a whole lot other problems. A lot easier to pull it off internally with less rules and restrictions.

Re: Business model

+1 as long as as sensible done (I know 80% would like balance, but for sure 20% would rage if balancing would forbid introduction of their beloved child)

And I agree that for this special case it would be waste to use something like kickstarter instead of impelmenting a similar functionality for your own

Re: Business model

Looking at kickstarter, there is some tough competition on there.  I would suggest those doing Kickstarter or some other one, just for visibility sake.

Re: Business model

No matter how much we will pay, they are still the same 5-8 developers. So let's place a question in a way where they tell us how much it will cost to hire additional developers that will develop all the stuff we want but main devs don't have time to implement.

Have a productive day, runner!

Re: Business model

There are a lot of features that could be funded with these campaigns that are way down on the priority list such as alliance features, new servers, engine improvements etc.

Re: Business model

I also thought this idea would help a bit. At least some more cash to the DEVs.

But that easily can use to 3D modell a robot or something.

Good idea I support it!

+1  The changes for steam are great!  All content is new content for a person who has never played!  But,. you have to at least have a plan started for 4-6 month after steam or we'll be back to gen chat at 30.........
