Topic: Any idea what will happen when steam kicks in ???

I was wondering about some comments,  for example:

When game is ready for steam what's gonna happen with the server ??? Will the dev team do a full reset of the data ???

Also about gammas,  at the moment a few people can shut down an entire gamma island so when steam kicks in and if population actually happens to increase by a ton several islands are already close making this a bit unfair for new masses.   

Some people already commented about the current gamma system about shutting teleports with terraform and turrets.   I don't know whats gonna happen with this but if stays like that then eventually all gammas will be close down to other players/

I guess we won't get an answer by the team it might be to early to know or the best thing to do if it happens is not to talk about it, might be a hot topic to discuss with the community,  anyways best of luck

This is what's wrong with this game.  No one should have been able to completely cut off gamma islands,  I would support a gamma reset before steam.

Give us better tools for gamma sieges and soon most of the islands will be sitting without defences. smile

no point in a Gamma reset unless the DEVs change the way TF'ing works.

Also their are ALOT of gamma islands that are very open for new players to do stuff on

There are a very small number of Gamma Islands that are inhabited by corps.. at the current pace of gamma growth it will be 2 or more years before all of the gammas are cut off from new players.

by that time (i hope) new mechanics will be in place to not require 50+ people to siege a gamma. ..

but hey maybe that's what the devs want ... maybe they want it to take 50 to 60 or more people assaulting a gamma to breach it, after all the current and future mechanics are all being designed for larger amounts of players

so i would be really surprised if the DEVS gave us siege bots (that could compete with gamma turrets) anytime soon.

Dunno, you read the comments under that link and that game doesn't have a lot of favourable reviews. Considering its $40 up front and $15 a month, and offers the same full loot drop experience as PO, it makes PO look more attractive.  If that sets the bar, and AC gets their *** together, Steam may actually work for PO.

I just see the solution for Perpetuum also here, maybe Steam is do this because of Darkfall and Perpetuum got steam release at Greenlight (and maybe more subscription based MMO s which I dont know).

So this is actually good sign for me and I think for Perpetuum also.

1. the server will be flooded with noobs
2. the servers will face stabilities problems from the masses
3. 2 weeks later, the population will start to drop again rapidly after the two week trial phase is over.
4. server will dwell a few more month from the little bit of burst income they got out of it.
5. Zortag will continue writing funny stuff on the forums... until its shut down
