Topic: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

To start with, I am of those that play EVE too(and will go on) but as a first look I do like Perpetuum a lot so thinking to sub and seriously play it. To start with, there are some things I would like to ask:
1. Pros and Cons of each of 3 races practically. Started Nuimqol, but not sure if its the one I like most
2. How I can see the DPS of my robot
3. Is there any detailed guide for equipment?
4. Combat mission running in Perpertuum, what would you advise a newcomer(bought a Light Merc)
5. If I made a mistake on the race I want to use and want to recreate my char, I lose the starter bonus points on account?
6. Nuimqol guns, do I have to place all guns same type and ammo best like EVE?(and can we group them) if anyone could give me some fitting tips
7. Corps, can a trial join and apart from the obvious advantage of making friends within corps easier, what else does a corp offers
Lastly since it looks a promising game, would like to ask if anything is planned soon on major updates and if the game in general continues to expand in content. Apart from that, would like to say, that I havent yet bothered with "crafts" and gathering, except for a bit mining through tutorial. Any tips you could give for a new player would be welcome, thanks in advance

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

welcome to the game. i hope you enjoy it.

1.: nuimqol is good at dps and are the fasted bots. thelodica has also good dps with better range potential. pelistal are missile user. they have less dps but have a balistic fireing path and so can abuse the terrain better.

2.: you cant.

3.: not that i know of. but for pve its relativ simple in most cases. but too long to write it here.

4.: well missions are not realy good atm. just keep doning them from the start to the better ones once they come avalible. there are mot that many and you will soon see what are better for your playstyle and what are not.

5. there are not that many ep lost if you want to change race. but if you care then just create a new trial accout. if you dont like the blue bots then make 2 new trial agents and try the other ones. just sub the account you want to keep. but all 3 will start su gather EP.

6. well every race has a weakness of a certain dmg type. so that ammo will be good. most ppl in pve use chemoactive mmo that always works well against all races. and so you cant group them. but you can press space to fire them all at once.

7. well generaly the perp community is realtiv small and always willing to help new players. what corps can offer depends on the corp. there are corps in most laguage and time zones so if you want somethning specific i am shure ppl can show you what will be best for your long term goals. some corps are more pve some are more pvp, some are more capitalistic some are more communistic.

generaly the next big planned update are new pvp islands with player build stations. you might want to have a look at the dev bolgs here.
even if it sucks but i advice to do all the tutorials. a lot of things are similar to eve but there are also a lot of things that are different.
the "guides and resources" section here in the forums is also good for any new player.

besides that i would advice to join a corp. ppl can help you way faster with voicecomes to answer all your questios (and i think you will have a lot) more easiely. or just ask around in the help chat.

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

I just tell the base faction properties.

LOS+ = you can hide after obstacles and shoot somethimes
LOS-  = obstacles is bad for you

Pelistal / Trugold Markson / missiles:    slow          low DPS      LOS+      small accu consumpiton         low HP

Thelodica / Asintec  / lasers:                quick        med DPS     LOS-       high accu consumption          high HP

Nuimqol / ICS / magnetics:                  quickest    high DPS     LOS-       med accu consumption          low HP

Energy to Earth!

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

Thank you both, seems I didnt make a bad choice on the race after all, since I like machinegun-style gunnery and high dps paired with speed. To another matter, crafts like harvesting, crafting, researching are worth it or best being fully focused on my combat and navigation skills?

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

2: To see your dps, you can activate your combat log. there you can see the damage you do per shot and per target. In Options, there exists also an flag to save logfiles to disk including time stamps.

It's best to focus on one "area". Most people prefere specialists and use separate accounts for combat, industry, etc.

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

keep focus on one thing with one char/account. if you like doing some industry try thinking of a second account. most ppl do it that way.

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

Just in general: since u have masses of extensions to raise to get more efficient on your favorite profession (just like in eve) it is advisable to choose just that one to shorten waiting times. (Advanced players have to wait a month to get just the last level of the desired extension...)

With the industrial branch its the same as your choice of weapons - even more so. In combat u differentiate between EM - laser - missiles - ewar/support, with industry u have the subprofessions of harvesting - mining - production (research/prototyping/massproduce).
While EM and Laser share some extensions (all turret-extensions) the industrial part has for each section its own extensions, so u have to choose in industry even more which way to go. A little decision help is given by the training assignments (after general training theres also one for combat and industry): they will introduce you to the "missing parts" of tutorial and give you a free light bot after completion.

Since you want to mainly a combat character I suggest to leave production alone (u wont make good money at the current market with it as leisure time profession).
Some things that can be very helpful as pve'ler can be the repair and recycling extensions of the industry category.
If you're bored with combat or need the industrial standing for Sparks (=additional bonuses) I suggest putting a few points into harvesting later and run some harvesting missions (giving very good standing reward + lots of tokens for special ammo at the syndicate supply).

Hope it helps you.

you wrote that you have started as nuimqol/ICS agent. Thats ok for machineguns. There is no faction specialized in Firearms, but the green robots dont have the required turret slots - so blue or yellow doesnt really matter.

you want speed - then blue is the right choice.

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

I see and thank you, well sure a guide on gears would be helpful on newcomers, since there arent much tips into fitting each robot. In my case for example, its easier since I play EVE too, but still not sure what matters most in cases you dont have enough cpu and reactor power to place the things you thought of. Examble on Yagel you would rather place plate + repair or universal hardener + repair? For now damage my robot gets is low but got a feel soon will get suddently more hard. As to missions, currently the ICS terminal offers me only lvl 0s, how can I know where to find lvl 1s for example?

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

the mission system will get a topic this evening wink

on a yagel i would place a LightWeightFrame and a t2 small repair + t2 sensor amp, and would try to get my hands on t2 light em guns as fast as possible.

once you can afford to buy a good stack of composite small slugs, move to New Virgina and start grinding (kiting) a spawn of castels and sell the plasma they drop. Avoid yellow npcs since deal the most dangerous damage to you wink

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

first: everything you will fit will depend on your skills. when you have better skills then you will be able to fit your bot more efficiently and of cource everything will run better.

get yourself a assault bot asap... light bots are not realy good in killing npcs...

what you need first: extentions that you can fit everything correctly. so cpu and reactor will be your first problem.
second you will need to be accu stable so your guns and your reps will keep running. this is not eve and in most cases you will not be able to just activate your armor rep and let it keep running. thats why most ppl tank npcs by range (what is a bit harder for blue bots at the beginning).

what you need:

high slots:
1x sensor amplifier
rest damage tunings
maybe range extenders if you want to tank on range (mostly with mechs ... needs too much fitting for smaller bots)

med slots:
em guns (forget about the missile slots)

low slots:
variant 1: armor tank: (slow)
1x armor repairer
hardener depending on npcs
armor plate (for more hitpoints, but makes you slow)

variant 2: range tank: (speed)
1x armor repper
lightweight frame (makes you faster but lowers your hitpoints)
hardener
(maybe accu extender if you have problems and the room to fit it, what you most likely will not have)

that should be enough for the beginning.

if you have problems with your fittings:
t1 = standard stuff
t2 = same stats as t1 but lighter (makes you faster), less fiiting requirements (reactor, cpu), and less accu
t3,t4 = better stuff, harder to fit, more accu

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

Thank you both, that was very useful info, noticed by the way that, on some gears got t2 followed by letter like t2p, on market list. On another matter, a trial can join Corps?

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

T(X)P = prototype (for istustry use. mostly too expensive for fitting)
T(X)+ = special with better stats. only gained from officer drops (very rare)
T3- = special from artifact scanning or officers

just stick with the normal tiers for the beginning. the rest comes later.

the game mechanic allows joining as trial. if the corps will let you join as trial depends on them.

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

Thank you, I only got around 250k, so till I work on it a bit cant fit with ease higher than t1, will have to work on it first. Mostly due reactor capacity, could fit only 3 EMs(T1) out of 4 possible, 4th placed a t1 machinegun(needs 15 reactor instead 30).

By the way JUST made my account non trial, would you like to tell me a bit further on Corps(guilds in other words) in this game?:)

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

you can take a look in the recrutment area of this forum or tell us what you are looking for. then we might be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

Well while I am combat PVE oriented, I do like PVP too(without being hardcore, aka not wanting it all the time, but do want it), plus to be honest PVE fuels PVP as well(you need cash so you dont mind losing robots sure). Generally I like Corps kinda lively and mostly friendly among members. To a note sure maturity lvl plays a role too, since I am a 30 year old man who works for living. Lastly my time zone is EU, I live in Greece, GMT +2 but I do tend to lots times stay late.

Got the recruitment channel tab ingame but so far none ever talked there, so guessing its not used

The game is really built around player generated content, aka Corps.

There are corps that specialize in every aspect of the game, Mining, Industry, PVE farming, and PVP.

PVP corps typically offer the most 'rounded' experience, since they will do thier own indy/mining, as well as PVP. But if you have no interest in PVP, its better to go with one of the other specialized corps.

The advantages of joining a corp are significant for new players, including price breaks and/or free bots and modules, in exchange for your soul  wink (j/k... maybe)

But, probably the most important consideration when joining a corp, is picking one that is active in your time zone.

edit: Post that your LFC in recruitment, you'll get a response right away

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

Well time zone and other things are mentioned on my above post, as for pvp, you could say, I am 60-65% PVE and rest PVP(aka I like PVP as long as I am not forced to spend all my time on it, but I do like cooperative farming npcs sure too), so probably something combining PVE farming and PVP would suit me best, in an EU time zone(mine is GMT +2 as I said but I often stay up to my 2am if not tired or going out)

Re: After 2 days of paly some questions on the game

well there is no greek corp as far as i know of.

other eu corps that may fit your intrests may be:

m2s  (eng)
f-navy (fr)
remedy (ger)
dream (rus)

try contacting these corps if you have intrest.
