Topic: Why mine in a pvp zone?

I haven't been in the pvp zones yet but it seems that I can mine all the material needed on the safe islands.

So tell me this, why should I mine in a hostile zone?

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

Would also like to know this, and also same question but insert pve instead of mining.

I'm expecting increase yield per cycle and harder mobs (hardest mob I've found on noob island is 1st star mech)

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

1. Epriton is PvP island only
2. "Tile contains no materials of that type" messages are less often to read there
3. i heard some corps managed to deplete whole Ore-deposits on non-PvP areas in a few hours, with the small mining bots only. imagine what happens when the heavy miners start rolling on alpha island

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

epriton or whatever its called is only there, mobs there drop higher tier equipment, outposts are better statted and the higher level mission are available there

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

Thanks for the replies!

I didn't know about that mineral being PvP only. I look forward to the large battles for control of it!

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

Im just hoping materials dont replenish fast enough to support the alpha miner population.  Force people to beta because they just cant find enough on alpha.

I've suggested higher yields on beta because of overmining on alpha (its the most populated and built up place.  Nians have already mined it mostly out before we got there) to give an obvious risk vs reward, but if things evolve just because they are mined out on alpha that will work just as well.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

I don't like the idea of forcing players to the beta islands. I belive there will be a natural progression when the market demand for mechs is increased.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

You won't be forcing them, because there will always be some ore on the alpha isles. There needs to be a reason to go to the beta islands however. Risk vs reward. Abundant ore would be a good reward.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

its a LOT easier to mine on the pvp islands due to a few things. All the outposts have spawns of everything, usually within 1500M. These spawns are big red juicy spawns and not the crap on alphas. Also its easier to refine due to the higher level facilities. All it takes is some alt scouts and your good to go.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

Alpha islands will and always will be where the market is. Just like in EvE (Jita).

It's where all the people go to trade goods (least make a steady profit).

What this game needs atm is an easier way to transport goods. EvE had industry ships, which are easier to obtain. Not so easy in this game.....do they even exists? Bots with high cargo capacity and nothing else?

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

Legend speaks of such a bot. An assault class with 80 units of cargo. Drunken old agents often claim to have seen one roaming between alpha outposts in their never ending hunger for nic and standings.

Because the voices told me to do it.

Sequer.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

lol

So 2.5 mil for a "combat" bot that does nothing but logistics...

How about the devs take all the weapon slots off, and make me one that sells for 500k?

Logistics needs some loving in this game. Bad.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

It means you can specialise in transport, rather than having any smuck come along and do your job just as well.

Besides, I don't think Sequers will be considered that expensive after a few months. You can get one after a day or two of grinding as it is, and the economy is still teething.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

How do you specialize in "Transport"? You can't. Only mining and industry. Those are 2 different things.

Maybe in a future patch they can add some new robots just for logistics / hauling and a few new EP lines to compliment (like in EvE).

Right now its a pita and makes no sense financially (why do I have to run logistics in a "mining bot", or "assault bot" etc.). Those are my only options, and are very $ atm.

Buy a Sequer, train relevant skills.

this is a multiplayer game.

before I could afford my hauler I payed a guy to come pick my 80units of raw materials up for me, he delivered it to whereever I wantet, for the fair price of 200k.

use your head, and stop crying as soon as you cant do EVERYTHING yourself.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

In my opinion, the grouping necessity should come with the player progression in the game.

I guess it's already the case for combat missions: the lower level ones can be done in solo, while the later ones require a consequent group.

Transporting is working the other way atm: when you start, you can't specialize in it without farming one or two million, and when you get you sequer you can farm them 10  at once. A light transport bot would be a great addition (something with like 15-20U of space npc-seeded at arround 400k for instance, with only one weapon/indus slot of course), so players finishing the tutorial can sell out their combat bot and buy one to do transport missions, as wannabe mining players are able to do with the light mining bot.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

Being a better transport:

Navigation for maximum speed
Mechanics for maximum armor
Accumulator skills for shield/armor/repair buffing.

If you want to train only the basics to drive a sequer, then dont complain that you're terrible at transporting anything on Beta.

And no, the Sequer is not a combat bot, it has slots to be able to tank with things like shields, shield hardeners, armor rep tunings, armor plates, resistance plates, etc etc etc.  It doesnt have any weapon slots and 1 small industry slot so idk how you would even begin to think its 'combat' capable bot.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

so what happens when a corp joins an alliance and needs to move its fleet from point A to point B? There are not bots that can carry other bots correct? At least in bulk. So then wtf do I do? Move then all manually? In EvE, you can at least "pod" so you can leave a ship somewhere, pod back and bring in more ships 1 by 1. You cannot do that in this game And that should be a minimum.

I LOVE the game. I am just suggesting Logistics needs some love. asap. It's far too primitive to support a local banking implementation on top of territory controlled pvp.

Sequer can load bots as well.  All you have to do is 'package' up the bot and load it in cargo.  I don't know the various packaged sizes, but I think there is space for like 10 light bots on a Sequer.

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

light bot packaged = 6U
sequer cargo = 80U

Re: Why mine in a pvp zone?

I know what some people mean. Yeah they pretty easy obtainable hauling ships in EVE and better ones cost more of course. But, you do have Laird and Argona, they have 7.5AU instead of 3.75 combat ones. Sequer is the one bot that all the miners, haulers, industrialists want to have eventually. If you do assignments you can grind enough money to get Sequer for about 2.2 mil in about 20-24 hours if they are available on market. It took me about 6 hours with 3 accounts by using laird and 2 argonas going circle Dardden, New Virginia, Attalica(?) and taking 2 transport assignments each. I hate making money this way but this is a good way for beginners other than farm kernels and sell them on market. You also get a buttload of all kinds of ammo while grinding for money and different standing.

make sure you have at least lvl 6 Diplomacy, otherwise your standing will grow very slowly since missions that you take at one terminal may decrease standing from factions at another terminal, with high diplomacy and Logistic Specialization though you will be getting more money from each assignment and your penalty for doing assignments for opposite factions will be less noticeable.
