Topic: Patch?

Coudnt find a better place to post than here.

I cannot play because I cannot patch. Any one else having trouble?

it gets to about 4.78k and stops. Left it for an hour and it does nothing.

Tried to download the game client from scratch and it does exactly the same!

Anyone else? and is there another place I can download from?

Re: Patch?

Do you have a firewall other than the one in Windows?
Do you have any antivirus software running?

If so, try to disable them and see if that changes anything.

Re: Patch?

Disables anti-virus, and firewall , no effect. Gets up to 4 or so k download and then stops.

O and rebooted both PC and router just in case.  Still same.

Re: Patch?

Left it running for two hours got 6k.. carnt do this any more. sad

Everythign else I do works perfectly. All my other games / programs patch up perfectly and at full speed , only this site and download is slow. (read almost stopped)

Ill try again tommorow, but if this continues I gues I carnt log in any more.

Re: Patch?

Wait, you mean the website is slow too?

Re: Patch?

Its probably a routing problem (router when bad / got overloaded / has an incorrect routing table between you and the game).

Run a traceroute to perpetuum-online.com and post the results.

Looking forward to new players and new conflicts.

Re: Patch?

To answer the DEV, yes the site is also a little slower than everything else I connect to. I tried to download the game client from scratch and the 48k loader took 20 mins or so to download.

I tried to patch a few games in steam and got my usual 8 meg connection fine.,

Went to a few speed test sites to check those and got the usual 8 meg results. Nothing at my end appears to be wrong (but it could be I just dont know what)

Tracert as requested.

Re: Patch?

Well the fact that the website is also slow at least confirms the fact that the problem is not with the client or the downloader.

However the traceroute doesn't suggest any connection problems either, so this is very weird.

Re: Patch?

I'm having connection issues today as well. Its taking ages to log in, 11 minutes last time, the website runs fine, my ping when i finally get in game is around 60ms but the server isnt communicating with the client properly. It took 5 minutes to deploy from the terminal, over a minute at times for my chat messages to actually be posted to the general chat and when I redocked I got the ghost terminal before being kicked from game after a few minutes of waiting.

Nothing is downloading on my network and the trace route to the server is fine:

Re: Patch?

I wouldnt assume anything from what may be coincidence. The web is runnign fine now. Still cannot patch

I get a few K of download then nothing for 20 or so minutes. then possibly 1k then nothing etc.

Left it running for 12 hours now and I still havent patched.

I tried to monitor it with Wireshark and it appears that there just isnt any traffic, a few packets then nothing. No errors just nothing sent.

Re: Patch?

I had almost exactly this issue with the last patch (website and game downloads were slow, when I did manage to patch I kept getting disconnected). Trace was good as above. It went away after 3 days.

I reported it in the 'lag and disconnects' thread..

Re: Patch?

Lana Can I ask, Do you have a fixed or variable IP for your connection?

Re: Patch?

Variable, but I tried a new IP a few times and it did nothing.

Re: Patch?

As an attempt to temporary evade this issue,
please visit http://www.perpetuum-online.com/~mancs/ … 011_10_16/ and download both the data file (Perpetuum.gbf) and the exe for Perpetuum. Replace these files in your game's directory.

Please tell us if this fixed the issue.

Re: Patch?

It actually finished patching early hours - after two or three days, thanks.

I did however try this link and it wont download from here either .. just sits on 0% EDIT- Just tried this link again and now Im getting 500kb/s, then it drops to 300 ..

Tried to connect to game and got in .. deployed from station, got disconnected. Rejoined move 10 feet disconnected again .

Ping says 60 all the time.

Tried again and moved arround, but modules wont activate. I can see read and post in chat though.

Disconnected again , and again ..

and to share the latest speed test

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1538211729.png

Going to give up now and play something else.. Ill check back here later to see if you can fix stuff/ give me something to check or fix at my end..

Re: Patch?

Draydon, the file Mancs linked, you can't download the file or once downloaded you can't run it (It doesn't download an update).

If the issue is downloading the file first then this is rather worrying but if the file downloads but the patch doesn't then it's with the game server I would assume.

The number of people this is effecting is growing as they speak up in general channel. Everyone seem to know someone effected. Not good.

Re: Patch?

No the download was fine, what I said was the game finally patched after two days. Didnt need to download that file

I tried however and it was downloding fine (after a few secs of waiting at first)

SO. Im fully patched. Game runs.

Can log in (slowly) when in game I get disconnected every few minutes.  modules fire once then im gone... several minutes later I can get back in / move again. Then bam disconnected again. Ping/lag meter in game shows 60ms almost at all time. Just before disconnects it shows n/a

Sry was logged in on this toon, but its still me

Re: Patch?

Well, you're not alone in your issue which means either all the effect people are being effected by the same thing (I keep thinking firewall update/new netcode in the last patch responding differently to your firewall/router.

But honestly I'm at a loss of what to suggest, you can ping the server fine but the moment any large amount of data is passed the connect hangs. Hence why logins take forever. They're not sending files slowly but more the files just stop for a while and then kick back into life again. Or so it would seem from what I've gathered from others.

Devs probably claim everything is fine their end but they really need to add a session tracking feature so you can record everything into a dump file and send it to them.

I would say he should upload the wireshark file he records during the issue and send it to the devs since they wrote the netcode they should know how to interpret it assuming they are not using encryption (DO NOT POST IT HERE, could have an unhashed password or something and even a hash of your password could be enough to get into your account)

Looking forward to new players and new conflicts.

I honestly doubt anyone has the same network setup as me..

Win7 (Only the MS firewall which I have disabled, but its never truly disabled so meh) -> Linux server -> NAT in to PPPoE tunnel -> Bridged ADSL connection to ISP.

The nix box is running the standard IP stack/firewall so its basically got a 'NAT firewall" with no filtering on the outgoing connections. There is some mapping on the incomming connections, but unless the patcher is trying to use a common service port (FTP, SMTP, VNC, etc) its not gona be an issue.

Again, running wireshark on the PPPoE tunnel showed just not traffic coming in.

Re: Patch?

Just to keep this alive I guess (unlike my connection)

I still cannot connect quickly to the game, When it eventually does connect, I still cannot remain in game for long.

I still cannot play or do anything constructive.

Re: Patch?

Drayon, if you manage to stay ingame for a while, please try what Gargaj says here:

Re: Patch?

OK, when between 50 and 240 on the lag meter and moving on the terain, both lights flash so fasts it looks like they are constantly on.

When n/a , red light flashes once every 30 or so seconds, green constantly flashing.

Is this what you wanted.

Re: Patch?

That's what they want. smile
Though it does also ask for "and the text ("ACTIVE / GQI...") next to it."
They are to the right of the lights.

Re: Patch?

The LFQ part during N/A lag would be the most interesting. Let me know what the value is and does it change during those every-30-second-or-so flashes.
