Topic: Dictionary. EVE > Perpetuum

To help the players from EVE who join Perpetuum. I made this little dictionary to translate EVE jargon into Perpetuum jargon.

Some of these “translations” are only rough approximations; others are simply the figment of my imagination.


Dictionary.
EVE -> Perpetuum

Concepts
Security status  ->  Does not exist
Concord  ->  Does not exist
Jita  ->  ICS alpha terminal on Attalica or Truhold Markson Terminal on New Virginia.
Named modules  ->  Tech II and III
Tech II  ->  Tech IV
Capacitor  ->  Accumulator
Civilian quality gear  ->  Syntec gear
Clones/jump clones  ->  Does not exist
Implants  ->  Does not exist
ISK  ->  NIC
Missions  ->  assignment
Overview  ->  Landmarks
Null sec  ->  Beta
Empire space  ->  Alpha
Low sec  ->  Does not exist
Standing  ->  relation
Skill points  ->  extension points
Skills  ->  extensions

Structures.
Station  ->  Outpost or Terminal
Gate  ->  Station (official term), teleport (vernacular term over voice and chat coms)

Nice, but isn't the can time 15 mins? Also I hear people undocking all the time, deploy is only on the screen big_smile

Thanks for taking this initiative on.  Im just a lazy mofo and havent bothered to put together an exhaustive list (as well as not being a recent eve player).  Although, I think its kinda hard to read.  Maybe some bolded/underlined headers for the sections, and a bolded > symbol, or something different.  The > doesnt really stand out.

Fixes: 
"NEXUS modules" so they recognize all caps in the market listing and know its many modules.

Clarifications:
I would class Minmatar as the Human technology in Perpetuum, aka Arkhes and firearms.  These are the only Human made items in Perpetuum, and I'd actually hope they further this idea and eventually make assault/mech Human-made bots that also have bonuses to firearms.  I'd like to think its easily explained through the lore as us getting more knowledge of the Nian tech and are able to build our own comparable ones.  Maybe after the Perpetuum-project energy harvesting update makes it into the game, a natural expansion of that is bigger badder Human tech!

Few extras plus some things that don't quite match up

Nos/vamp -> drainers
Neuts -> Neuts
Damps -> suppressors
ECM -> ECM
counter ECM -> ECCM
________ > Evasive
DCU > ______ Active hardners?
_______ > ERP?
Tracking comp/target painter > Weapon Stab

missing:
cargo expander -> bigger (hauler) bot big_smile

and "stations" go renamed to "Teleporter" long time ago

and AFAIK the shield mechanic in perpetuum is completely different from eve's

Freighter > Lithus

I'd also bump the bot sizes up, like so:

Frigate > Light Bot
Cruiser > Assault Bot
Battlecruiser > Mech
Battleship > Heavy Mech

Belt Rats > NPC spawns

Lithus is just not big enough to be considered a freighter. Sequer would just be a low tier hauler, Lithus a higher tier. Though given the tanks you can fit to these, I'd be tempted to say they're more like small and large deep space transports.

According to what logic?  You can't mean linear progression, because that's a rather poor scale.  The armor/tank/dps of an Assault bot is more in line with the upgrade from Frig to Cruiser, not 'marginally' better like the Frigate > Destroyer, which is just a glorified Frigate with more gun slots.

A Sequer is 80U cargo, a Lithus is 240U, I don't think hauler tiers in EvE scale 4x?  Even with T2  expanders and rigs ...

240 / 80 = 3.

Lights and assaults use the same weapons and are marginally better. Assaults have more slots but a light can easily kill an assault and if you're really good a light can kill a mech.
Mechs and Heavy Mechs use the same weapon systems and again are only marginally better when say comparing an assault to a heavy mech which is in a whole different class.

If anything this game ISN'T like EVE at all in balance because everything is 1.5x better than the last thing... (On average)

Depends how you compare. EFT w/ no-skill Iterons (in m^3).
No mods: I1=3,000 I5=6,000 (about 2x)
Full T2 cargos: I1=4,877 I5=20,216 (about 4x)
T2 cargos + best rigs: I1=8,076 I5=33,478 (about 4x)

Obelisk: 750,000-973,500 depending on skill.
