I havent skimmed through the forums so I dont know if something similar has been already posted but I assume the forum-trolls will let me know soon enough tongue

Ive been thinking about a jetpack-thingy and if something like that could be made in the game in the future. So about the specs and stuff i thought. The jetpack could take 1 of the leg-slots and it would allow the user to fly in 100m above the ground level. While you are in air you cant fire your weapons but you can be shot down. This game isnt about dogfights after all. Also you could carry only 50/100% of the ships cargo. So that the jetpack couldnt be used effectively in transporting huge loads of stuff. So the jetpack couldnt be used in fights, you couldnt carry loads of stuff with it, only reason why you would use it would be that you want to move to different location bit faster, for example going to quest area etc. Jetpack could increase the speed of the robot about 50-70%. The duration of flight would depend on the players AP. For example 1AP/second.

i have also tought of a jetpack for this game,.. only played it for 2h so far and not sure if it would fit, but i used to play that "mechwarrior"game alot when i was a kid and really dig`d the jet packs there. as far as i can remember they wer kinda dangerous\difficult to use and i would crash and get damaged alot. maybe i just wasnt very good back then, but jeting around was very fun:P.. so, uh,, if it would fit with other game mechanics then it would be a sweet addition to this game, i think.(for "lighter" bots ofc) yo!

I think jetpacks would be the equivalent to the jump skills in the typical humanoid game. I think the lack of jumping or jetpacking makes the character feel constrained. This would add a level of freedom that would soothe gamers into staying.

Interesting idea, but I think having jetpacks for every roboform would be a bit out of place. Rather, there should be small boosters that lift you off the ground by a tiny bit (to get over obstacles) and would probably be a slotted item so you need to sacrifice something for it. I imagine it working a bit like they did in Mech Warrior (minus the boosting forever to tops of hills) where they have a heat/cooldown and are used in bursts.

As for transportation, I think having small hover forms that lift off the ground and function similar to hovercars in Anarchy Online, to make it easier to avoid slopes and make transportation less of a pain. That being said, they would be highly vulnerable and would need escorts. The hover is more to make them easier to move as a convoy than to make them industrial torpedoes.
