Topic: Installing under Wine (I know it's not supported, but still)

Installation and gameplay work pretty well using Wine (1.1.29 here on CentOS). There are a few quibbly issues (I know dealing with them is unlikely unless they coincide with a Windows issue, but perhaps seeing the errors is helpful.):

  • Black screen in hangar - this is on a Nvidia 8600M GT on a notebook, so perhaps card-related.

  • I had to disable special effects, though they work on the Win side of the machine.

  • Right-clicking to select and the context menus are even more problematic than under Windows.

  • A hang on resolution change that was resolved by restarting.

  • Rounding errors(?) in some extension descriptions

So far, that's not bad for not even being targeted at Wine. I can add the errors that Wine outputs, in case more debugging info might help the Windows side as well.

This is fixed under Wine 1.1.32

This appears fixed under Wine 1.1.32, or at least isn't as obvious.

For anybody looking to run this under wine, I might be able to help. The game runs pretty well, however installing it, you might want to create a new .wine folder and have a fresh copy of d3dx9 downloaded via winetricks.

Runs perfectly under wine 1.1.41 in Debian Lenny with Proprietary Nvidia drivers.

I tried on my Mac and the game installs but crashes on startup...any suggestion? Do you recommend any specific trick?
