Well, actually, Velo Nexus almost became "must have" so there is some point in his words. I mean, look - every single tackler has it - ok fine. Every hauler fits it - well, why, ok. Now there were combat mechs with it - but hey, wouldn't that be better to have a specialized bot for that? Maybe those brand new Ewar Sindybots - why don't you make them specialized in Nexuses? Like, extended range, reduced fitting requirements, less power consumption, or even reduce overall nexus efficiency while giving Ewar Sindybots some role bonus for them.

I'd more likely say that he made an observation rather than take it personally. I know Ryni quite well, he is passionate about the game and this sometimes comes across differently.

As far as the betterment of the game comment, well anyone that knows us knows how blatantly wrong that is. We have been playing consistently over 4 years, logging in regularly and playing even after everyone left, continue to support the game financially, help out new players etc etc. We are still here, and have always been here..

Velocity nexus might seem like a must but its CPU requirements makes it so one have to downgrade tight fits. Going that road we would want to remove lightweight frames next. We all know how cruicial speed is and fit around it. Navigation was an EP thing only that ended up being the skill everyone does to lvl10 before anything else so just a barrier new players had to jump over first.

Specialized bot for nexus modules might be a good idea.
Something like command ships in eve. Bonuses to nexus, low damage, and very good tanking capabilities.

I agree that the Velocity Nexus have now became what the Speed Boost Extension was, which forced them to remove it ... one can only hope this gets removed.  Or, they can just make it not equippable on any combat bot.  smile

i would love to see Nexuses only applied to (secondary) locked targets.

currently there is neither a bot that can lock as many targets as the corresponding extension can unlock,
nor is there any limit on how many targets a Nexus can buff at once.

making any nexus only apply to (secondary) locked targets will

  • make it a group buff, but limit how many allies can be buffed

  • make it not require to be in same squad

  • allow specialised robot, by having a bonus to max locked targets

  • require at least a pair of bots to apply the buff to the buffer

  • automatically nerf multiboxing as this cannot be done with auto-follow

  • make this an active combat role, as it would require to re-lock targets that fell out of lockrange

i can totally see what bonuses the "Metis" would have then big_smile (RR support would also benefit from more targets and longer locking range then a normal industrial heavy)

Indeed everybody has nowadays EP for Vel Nexus, but you cannot fit it without costs.
EG tackler with Nexus has strong limits on other fit, nexus as well costs you energy, there are several bots not beeing able to fit/use masking and nexus together, so oyu have to choose.

With this argument, we could remove weapons from equipment, as every Kain/Artemis/Tyrannos has them equipped and you cannot enter Pvp without having at least one bot with them fitted.

The Navigation extension was something complete different, as it had only few EP spend and no other side effects.

I saw those robots have Velo:
combat mechs
ewar mechs
combat assaults
combat lights
ewar lights
indy bots of all kind

all of them were effective enough, and it's not like "hey let's put a gun on miner bot for teh lulz".

Nexus modules should be either restricted to certain bots/bot types, or rebalanced and have special kind of bots have bonuses for them. Velo nexuses are currently just most popular because speed is the key, but that doesn't mean other nexuses are fine too.

I'd prefer a new nexus module to increase ewar strength that impacts demobs. I would also like ewar tunings to impact demobs.

I don't see a problem with adding a module to add speed. I see a problem with not being able to add a module to slow them down.

afaik demobbed targets are crippled down to almost immobile.
if you are talking about lwf fitted mk2 robots that can also fit 3 or more medium plates because their vast legslot count... then thats a totally different story.

what impact has your request if it would be fullfilled by the devs? any robot that has NOT demob resists would be crippled by a single demob, allowing an ewar mech to hold down more then one robot at a time. any kind of demob resist would be rendered useless, as ALL tackle bots would run that most effective combination of modules.

as a result, the acceptance to engage in PvP will fall down even more.

No, two or three modules would immobilise an enemy. It can still shoot back. It's also an option vs demon reistant enemies. While I agree that tackle bots will mostly fit this it means a move away from light bots in to light ewar and assaults for tackle. This makes them more expensive and more vulnerable.

It's about balance right?
The problem I see is with plates and speed nexus at the same time (fast and un-demobable).
I'd rather change it so you could not fit plates (well, medium ones) and LWF at the same time.
Whats that going to do to the relative speed of the different fits?
Plenty of scope for choices but you have to compromise on something.

You only "Have" to fit a nexus if you are solo.
In a group, you won't all have one anyway, and the one that does will be gimped for something.

Probably need to look at full config assault speed vs mechs but at least 100kph+ roams in MK2 Seth's is no longer possible.
