Not necessarily the same results, for instance T5 could have some draw backs but more specialized laying out a more defined role. However I am just speculating , what I gather from Zoom is, many have complained about the EP gaps so they are fixing it.
Vets always say EP is not really that important, better practice what we preach.

The Devs have always catered for the most experienced and look where we ended up. The future depends on the ones not playing, or never played atm.
I'm not saying that income is more than new players. I'm saying that ep is the only reason a player after purchase would give money.

Whatever the outcome, Devs would be wise to have discussed the changes with some reasoning behind the rebalancing before going along with it. That way they are not accused of pissing in the wind, and all this whining.

I just feel like somewhere around the 1-1.5 million ep mark, you should just stop *** about ep refunds and whining about the occasional extension balancing.... You are already better off than most people in game, so just suck it up... Amirite?

No, its just the opposite, at that EP level you are highly entrenched to your specific role and at 1.5 you can start to branch out.

When Gamma was rebooted you brought a bunch of players together to talk about what should be changed and added and got a much improved system off the back of it. A rebalance is an opportunity to add new content. Perhaps do the same here?
I would suggest making proto bots the same stats as mk2 are currently. They are by far the hardest and most expensive to build and it fits with the mods meta with t4 proto being the best in the game. I would then rebrand mk2 as specialised versions of mk1 with for instance a facet of a bot type given a specific bonus that makes it really good at one role.
Example might be:
Gropho: 20% increase to rof
Mesmer: 20% increase to range
Seth: 20% increase to resists
Kain: 20% increase to speed
Tyrannos: 20% increase to neutralising
Artemis: 20% increase to range
Zenith: 20% increase to demob range
Ictus: 20% increase to shield absorption
Vaga: 20% increase to ewar range
Riveler: 20% increase to remote repair amount
Symbiont: 20% increase to remote energy transfer
Etc etc but you get the idea.
For some roles using a proto with an extra head and low would be better. For others the mk2. This would give us a new tier of robots and I think bring a lot of players back to the game. It would also give industrialists something to do as protos get made and lost.

I want a new robot called "The Hunter" it was a 20% increase to ERPs.
"The Lemon" with 30% increased explosion radius
"Optibot" with 25% penalty to detection, but 50% increased hassle causing
