Topic: Extension Points issues? I have an idea ...

Based off of the http://forums.perpetuum-online.com/topi … dition-ep/ thread, I thought of a way to potentially assist in EP gaining.

This would reward PvE Combat players the most, unless you put the idea into mining and harvesting.

Rare / Very Rare EP Tokens

The game mechanics : Upon destroying npcs there would be a .01% chance for a 100 EP  token to be dropped.

Values and Circumstances

1.  The token size is .0001 and is unable to be sold.
2.  The token is unable to be traded.
3.  The token would be account / player bound for the can owner for the duration of 1/2 lootable timer.
4.  The token is obtainable from a players npc loot can after the timer in 3 has expired.
5.  The token is always destroyed on player death while in cargo.
6.  The token generation is unaffected by player extension levels or any other bonus.
7.  The token could be used as an incentive to do the special assignments, among other things.

Adjustments to come sooner or later.  lol

Re: Extension Points issues? I have an idea ...

So what would happen in a group setting where someone with a few friends are farming npcs, who gets the loot then?

What would happen with the can, since like a lot of people, the character that kills doesn't always loot the can. (I.e I have a hauler who loots cans while my combat guy shoots the npcs).

What about the remote rep/energy transfer/nexus guys who provide valuable assistance in npc farming, how would they be able to attain the tokens?

Just a few of the issues I could think of, but more to the point, how do these tokens fit into a time based progression game like Perpetuum? New players coming in already have a huge advantage versus guys who started the game years ago, as they can buy boosters and essentially get to the same place in half the time as the vets that payed a monthly fee for years.

This would lead to massive macro based npc farming (and even the restrictions above would allow sellig of EP)

Re: Extension Points issues? I have an idea ...

This would allow to sell accounts macro/bot farmed to millions of EP.

The fundamental problem underpinning perceived EP gaps is lack of content.

Selling accounts is against EULA as far as I know.  I'm not the EULA master but I bet a few of you know what you can do to get more NIC and resources that isn't technically against the EULA ...

Macro / Bot farming : Is this not what CIR and PHM do already?  So how would that change anything?

There's a way to gain EP.

It's called "wait like everyone else".

This way for farm-bots.
Noobs must just PLAY. And... need MORE content... Bots, modules, missions, pvp-hunting, head-rewardig, etc, etc, etc...

How long they have to wait? You didn't wait. You had a maximum EP and equal conditions. In what the others worse than you? Just because of they didn't knew about the game before?..

Hunter are you fighting here just to fight?
Or do you want to get EP, because a toon with 800k ep will farm the same amount EP faster than a new guy. So this is not a buff to the new guys, but another way to further make the gap bigger!

There are other ways to help new people. AND NEW PEOPLE and not the new account you just bought.

Re: Extension Points issues? I have an idea ...

Just give every new account a free 30d or 60d booster or some crap. None of the vets care if new players get a better beginning than we had. Hell give them a free 3,000 credits to respec initially if they want. Id rather see a newbie a different color everyday for a month than see him go back to another game.

There are umpteen topics on what new content is neededt ranging from new island types, more varied missions, through to meaningful roles for smaller bots and new bots with more specialised roles etc etc etc etc etc.

I'm not going to add my own preferences here but instead ask the question:

Why does the new player see the need to compete with the Vets from so early in their Perp career? Could it be that there's very little to do or to strive for in between Noob and Vet.

Maybe because of Perpetuum-online about PvP? The game designed for competitions. If the DeV's wanted to create a PvE game - they would did it. But perpetuum exactly PvP oriented game with some economic aspects. Gamma is a giant PvP content. The ppl just need to able to get it.

Three of the examples I mentioned (new island types/configurations, specialised bots and meaningful roles for smaller bots) are about PvP oriented content.

I doub if DeVs have enough resources for quick development the new content. By your point they must create a new (pve)game.

You standing on the point that newbies should not be available to hi-end content. But are you sure that EP amount is a content? Ability to use same bots, same equipment totally not means fully researched prototype database, good teamplay/social skills/status and other stuff.

Ask yourself: You have quite much EP and is it enough for you? Have your corp have an own outpost with 100% stability with lots of miners around and good security squad? Who should fill this places? How long you ready wait for this? ("this" means the time when there will be lots of ppl, who will be able to do something)
